I got access to the playtest for this today. Only played a bit so far but I'm actually impressed. I'll report back when I've spent a little more time on it.

A clip of this randomly came up on my youtube reels. Oh my, it looks really good and seems to have quite decent puzzles on the PvE side which is nice to have in a game as thats the bit I feel most games seem to miss these days to grab your interest enough.

Let us know how you get on @phil bottle!

You see, this is where I worry Bungie has gone wrong with Marathon. Apparently same genre as this game, but this is way more like what I would expect a PvPvE extraction game to look and feel. It feels like the environment Arc Raiders is clean and aesthetically will work given Tarkov is already in this space.

Fans asked for Destiny 3, we get a larger Eververse, and marathon....

I blame Bungie for the aesthetic choice but Sony for the concept. Since Sony acquired Bungie, they've literally obliterated the Destiny brand which is was a needless travesty in itself and now they are trying to chase the live service genre despite extreme saturation and with so much competition already out there. If a game doesn't appeal visually (like Concord) then it's gonna be hard to sell the concept and Arc Riders just seems to offer something that appeals to everyone, whereas Marathon is more of an acquired taste and that could be the difference between success and DOA.

There's actually been so many games that have been and gone without anyone noticing in the last 3 years and the majority have failed by just having an unappealing art style.

I've had time for 3 proper raids so far, 2 of which I successfully extracted.

The game is done really well, I'm not usually a fan of 3rd person but here, like the Division games, it feels very smooth.

Sound is excellent, guns feel good to use, there's a good tutorial and there's a skill system that's pretty straightforward.

I'm busy today until the evening but if the playtest is still live tonight I'll definitely be jumping on again.
