GazzaGarratt 11,153
Â To be released in 3 months time, the brand new Nintendo Switch 2 looks like they've initially mproved on the biggest issues from the Switch 1 (for me anyway). Controllers are a nightmare, so it looks a much better way to click and connect them. Â Not seen the specs anywhere just yet but nice to get a slightly bigger screen and best news is Switch 1 games are compatible with NS2 devices. Thoughts? Thoughts?   Noooo not correct. The Switch 2 is going to have a direct on 2nd April which presumably will announce release date, pricing and show the launch titles 🙂  Controllers were always an issue, I would be interested to know if they have gone down the route of hall effect sticks like a lot of the more premium controllers are pursuing now. I love the Switch and excited for a new version, my only concern is finding the time to play the games! If it could really incorporate crossplay and bring discord to it then it could have a shot at being the mainstay console in the lounge ^_^   GazzaGarratt 1   Link to comment https://forevergaming.co.uk/forum/forums/topic/11064-nintendo-switch-2-first-look/#findComment-160527 Share on other sites
J4MES OX4D 10,169
Nintendo Switch 2 Release Date Likely Not Before June - IGN WWW.IGN.COM Nintendo has now revealed the Nintendo Switch 2 and, though it tried to remain coy with a vague 2025 window, may have subtly suggested it won't arrive until at least June. G_dub52 574
Im excited for this! The switch is the console I play on most with my lad and it has been a struggle at times with the small screen and small controllers and I get mad hand cramps with these!  A bigger clearer screen and slightly larger controllers will hopefully make it feel and play better for me personally. That's my excuse anyway when he smashes me every game at Mario Strikers haha  Also mega news the games are carry over. I wonder what availability will be like? I reckon it will be very popular.... I have enough to play on the current one that I could wait a little while. phil bottle 9,929
Looks good but expensive and the games are expensive and I fucking hate Nintendo as a company anyway but yeah here's the new one 🤪   J4MES OX4D and Tar-Eruntalion 2 Link to comment https://forevergaming.co.uk/forum/forums/topic/11064-nintendo-switch-2-first-look/#findComment-160880 Share on other sites
Luseth 2,090
I don't think it's expensive really, I think if you compare this to the Steam deck which is a great machine you are getting something rather comparable for the price. The power under the hood is similar and I think the 256gb variant is similar in price to this device albeit you are paying more but getting the dock included. They appear to have taken on board the issues with the first console and improved them.  My wife was really interested in this straight off the bat because of the Mario Kart game which my kids are at the age to start appreciating, I do not think this will do as well as the original Switch, it does not feel like it brings much new to the table other than a more refined device. It feel's just like an upgrade rather than a new machine.  The game share I liked, it means I could play Mario Kart on the Switch 2 and my daughter join us on the OLED swith 1 which could be good. The camera and the screen sharing looked really bad. The power isn't there to stream 4 other players devices while you are gaming and you could clearly see them lagging. Apparently in the interviews after they acknowledged this and have just accepted it which to me is poor. If it does not work just don't do it at all and they showed off some great 3rd party games that would never have been possible on the current switch with cyberpunk, Hitman, new 007 game and the bloodborne esque game they showed off at the end of the trailer.  I do have issues though - I think the first game / app they showed off sums up Nintendo at the moment though and it is why I have fallen out of love with the company as such in recent years. A game / app that showcases how to use the device but you have to pay for it? I mean what??!! Wheras playstation release a little Astro bot game free of charge. Then there are all these Switch 2 variants of games that you have to pay extra for, I think it was the Zelda game where you are paying extra to have the maps on your phone? Also game chat, welcome to what 2006?  I will pick one up but it will likely be a Christmas purchase for the household after we have moved and that is in part because my wife is offering to buy it as a joint household gift! 🙂   phil bottle and Antpool84 2   Link to comment https://forevergaming.co.uk/forum/forums/topic/11064-nintendo-switch-2-first-look/#findComment-160881 Share on other sites
J4MES OX4D 10,169 Posted yesterday at 11:17 AM Share Posted yesterday at 11:17 AM I feel like I've completely outgrown Nintendo and they seem to be blurring into the likes of Sony and Microsoft with scummy tactics. Indie and AA titles are very expensive on their machine and with physical copies soon to house only partial install data, you have to wonder why they even bother. Soon to be paying £70 for a game that's useless without an online connection and 30gb download. Their exclusive range also does nothing for me now - I can see why Nintendo-only gamers may be wowed at some titles but even BOTW just felt like a bloated open world game with some infuriating mechanics and limited gameplay. I did enjoy some of it especially at the start but having played a zillion of these titles, it wasn't anything new or unique.  Even for younger gamers, the amount of BS and the price here is just exhausting and they could easily broaden their horizons by a monumental margin with things like the Steam Deck. Switch 2 will basically have all the modern nonsense that plagues gaming but with a heavily restricted and overly-expensive catalogue. phil bottle 1 Link to comment https://forevergaming.co.uk/forum/forums/topic/11064-nintendo-switch-2-first-look/#findComment-160882 Share on other sites
phil bottle 9,929
Not to mention the fact that they will clearly release an Oled version further down the line as an new improved version when there's nothing stopping them from doing that now. Capitalism at it's finest, profits over people, don't you just love it when they rinse us for every penny 🙂  I also see that pre-orders have been delayed in the US due to tariffs 🫠Link to comment https://forevergaming.co.uk/forum/forums/topic/11064-nintendo-switch-2-first-look/#findComment-160883 Share on other sites
