Bollocks to Heavy Duty mode; just bring back the Barebones playlist and make objective play the main source of XP. Also bring back Hardpoint and Headquarters; two heavily objective-focused modes. Oh wait; IW couldn't give a toss about playing the bloody objective so that's probably why these two popular modes were removed! Tossers

COD 4 was brilliant; the game was fresh and players didn't grasp what effect K/D would have on society and self-esteem. Players just wanted to play and kill. The fixed killstreaks meant you had to work to unlock them and the maps didn't inspire camping. The general pacing on matches were fast, frantic and fun without the politics we see in today's Call of Duty games. I absolutely loved MW2 but I can't help but feel that game created the stereotypical 'noob' that is all too common today. The good K/D image, YouTube self-obsessiveness and the general way people have adapted to others's game styles has had a huge detrimental effect on quality and the winning mentality. IW don't help themselves taking away the elements that was salvaging the franchise; rewarding players for playing the objective. You take this element away and all players have is killwhoring. So many players just don't want to win matches either. Kudos to Treyarch for attempting to change the way players play and their attitudes - Black Ops 2 worked exceptionally well and rewarded players for playing any objective and in some instances more than a few kills. The games flowed better and there was a real competitive edge but Infinity Ward have stripped all of that in Ghosts and have reignited everything that was tactically intolerable in Modern Warfare 2. Ghosts is a fucking mess of a game. It has lots of excellent points but they have really taken it back to the stone-age of pure shite player styles and it seems they actively encourage it.

I love the arcade-style COD format as it plays like the good old days in terms of pace like Unreal Tournament, Quake III and Counterstrike but the major difference has been the killstreaks which along with the K/D ratio, has affected significantly the way the community play the game. I used to love barebones in MW2 as players had little to play for in terms of chained killstreaks so it was all about the gunplay and people actually came out into the open when they had nothing to camp for. The killstreaks in the last two COD games have been pretty poor tbh. In BO2, I only used a handful and it got far too repetitive and in Ghosts; they're nothing special. IW have really botched it by taking away the scorestreak element particularly in Kill Confirmed. Pure scorestreaks made the format better but now Ghosts is about kills again; there is more excuse to camp which is bloody infuriating. I'd also remove the K/D factor and just advertise kills and SPM.

Just popped back on the Alpha and it doesn't seem to work for me. A few others seem to be experiencing the same thing. I create my character make as default and when I go back to the menu; my character has my selected clothes but is female. I spawn in on a server and I'm a female yet if I go back into the character customisation; I'm showing as my created character. Weird!

They couldn't afford to get both Ozil and Higuain as they would've breached the fair play rules. They only walked away with a £6.7m profit on the last count back in September so Berbatov is probably a player within their price limit. Hernandez is also whispered but if Arsenal want to dip in properly; they'll have to sell before they buy. I think Sagna leaving is a huge possibility now

I cannot use guns in BF4 without good irons. I can barely get a hitmarker on someone and some of the weapons are so restrictive in view; you can only hip-fire spray and pray just to try and unlock a reflex

Kill Confirmed used to be my favourite game mode in Black Ops 2 but now it's just shit! Killwhores and campers galore.

Agree with Jordie. It's a pretty linear strategic game. Some people really rate it but I struggled to get into it and ultimately got bored very quickly. There is good customisation options but the basic play around the levels is pretty bland. Worth looking at a few YouTube videos to see how it plays but I personally wouldn't recommend it from experience.

I had Black Ops 2 on the 360 and there was always a steady 120-350k online. I think the Playstation 3 probably gets similar traffic too. Unless they beef up the COD concept into the next gen; I think those figures will drastically diminish. I dunno how many play Ghosts on the PS4 and Xbox One but BF4 having nearly 80k so soon is fairly massive and with games like Destiny and The Division along with Titanfall on the horizon; there will be plenty of choice for players in the MP sector compared to the 360/PS3 era when you really only had COD, FIFA and an ultimately scaled-down Battlefield series.

I think the transition for console gamers going from 24 players to 64 along with the upped graphical quality has been the key factors. It seems many have warmed to the sheer scale of the game along with the quality. Call of Duty is such a last gen game now and the contrast between both FPS games is massive. Even when it was was released on PC; Ghosts didn't look much different from MW2 and the 6v6 format is just embarrassing particularly on the larger maps. Players currently online: PC 88,394 PS3 91,507 XBOX360 86,795 XBOXONE 56,145 PS4 76,093 (source; bf4stats.com) PC has been very consistent along with the old gen consoles but 76k for the PS4 is staggering and it's only a matter of time until this eclipses COD. How many does Ghosts get on the PS4 usually? On PC, Ghosts averages probably 10k and peaks around 30k.

I'm glad I stuck with BF4 in the end and it's amazing to see how far it has come from the original release horror show and the glaring issues that plagued it for months after. Finally DICE has turned the screw and has not only recognised a string of game-breaking issues, but has fixed them making this game not only playable but very enjoyable. Their relationship will the community has been impeccable in the last few weeks despite receiving much hate worldwide. Good job to them! I think for a lot of next gen gamers; the sheer upscale of the console version is just a snippet of what is possible in the future. It's games like Battlefield 4 that really demonstrate the sheer depth and power which makes Call of Duty look very bland and dated now. Ghosts is essentially a 360/PS3 game at heart, forward-ported and despite BF4 also appearing on the old systems; at least this game was made for the next gen and back-peddled to give fans an opportunity to play before upgrading. The difference is immense. An epic leap forward. With interest and morale in COD at a all-time low; BF4 is definitely an amazing alternative and streets ahead in so many different areas.

I experience this occasionally when joining a server particularly if I enter a vehicle. It only lasts 20 seconds or so but it's a bit silly and needs to be addressed via the 646th patch
