I spent an outrageous amount of hours on the 360 and PS3 last gen but this time around I've only touched my PS4 for exclusives (which have been excellent but mostly single player) and spent most of the time on PC. I've had my PS4 for 5 years and enjoyed games like Uncharted 4, Horizon Zero Dawn, Spiderman, Detroit Become Human, God of War, Red Dead Redemption 2, Shadow of the Colossus, The Last of Us and plus others but with Call of Duty going stale/crap and games being technically restricted and performing poorly at 30fps; I've been mostly on PC this gen and the difference has been monumental especially with quality and choice available. The only time I've had PSN was a one month freebie and it's still as crap as it ever was except this time you're paying £50 a year. PC has also become the lead platform for many FPS games and other genres and it's becoming more and more accessible in the mainstream. People are learning not to buy an Xbox One X and games for £500+ when they can invest in a PC and get cheap games and a far more user friendly experience. I'm looking forward to the PS5 though and I hope it can deliver the same level of exclusives and be technically strong from the get-go. The PS4 was dated along with the Xbox One when it dropped and games really struggled to be optimised. The range of early exclusives were fucking tragic and It didn't help that brands like COD which we were reliant with on the old gen went to shit and then seeing MP/social games being overrun with Battle Royale and ruined with loot box greed. I don't think there has been a truly ideal socially driven game like COD was in the old gen this time around. Instead we've been overwhelmed with a quantity of games that fall short or don't have that appeal. Too many games that promised so much and failed also.

This game came out of nowhere on Steam last week and is sitting on 'Overwhelmingly Positive' reviews. It's a rouge-like, co-op/solo looter shooter from,Gearbox. This is getting huge praise from the press also as is only £15. I think it's only on PC for now but it's not exactly a very demanding game.

We knew that Anthem was a shitshow but we just didn't know how much of a mess it really was and there were similar suspicions about BO4 and how that went from a farcical Overwatch-clone into a recycled BO3 flip with ideas borrowed from current hot games along with having an 11th hour Battle Royale mode chucked in that was clearly rushed. There was even tweets to support the fact that Vahn had to scrap the project after it was rejected by testers and low and behold we get yet another BO game painfully sandwiched into a timeline with no campaign, ripped assets and stolen ideas with no real innovation. I'd love for the truth to come out with that game as I bet it's not all that different from Anthem's mess albeit not as a prolonged, embarrassing or severe.

We now know that the E3 trailer from 2017 was fake - it was a tech demo laden with assets built on convoluted ideas that had only been named 'Anthem' a few days earlier. The game did not exist and the developers who watched the demo at E3 for the first time were essentially watching what they then had to go on and create. LOL at 0:03

Blackout is free to play the whole month of April and with a new map PS4 gets a week exclusive but the mode is free on all platforms starting today. This is definitely going to go F2P for good eventually.

I hear he's being chased for the money the police and FBI spent on the investigation at least which is something at least but not prosecuting and convicting him of multiple charges sets a bad precedent and diminishes confidence in the courts. Although his actions probably didn't warrant jail time, a hefty fine would've been appropriate IMO and a criminal record on top. Instead he's walked away pretty clean and there will probably be a film about it made and lots of book deals which he'll likely profit from. It'll be staggering if Empire still retain him but as it stands, he's 'innocent'.

They dragged it on by an hour and when they did reveal the presentation of the Handsome Collection and Borderlands 3, it was marred by technical difficulties. Both trailers were stuttering and running at about 10fps so they restarted it and it still didn't work. Luckily at the time they already had the reveal trailer up on the official channel but the whole thing was a bit of a shambles from start to finish.

I've soloed it so far and it's very manageable with only hammer elites causing any real difficulty. As long as you don't put yourself in a position where you can be got from behind or flanked easily, most missions play out the same. The turret can be a great deterrent to stop flankers and the drone also helps. I think most of the few deaths I've had is where I've glued myself in cover and instead of coming unstuck, I've moved around into the open whilst still attached to the cover surface. Having a OHK sniper as a secondary can be very useful and enjoyable too.

It should be for games like Wolfenstein and Doom but I fear other brands will have more aggressive monetization models in place now to mitigate the revenue slice lost per transaction. They were the chief instigators for paid mods on Steam and I worry them returning will bring the old controversies back too.

Gearbox misread the market badly with Battleborn so if Borderlands 3 is anything Battle Royale related; that will probably end up going the same way aka DOA. They should've made Borderlands 3 ages ago instead of ploughing money and time into risky concepts so anything less than the typical Boderlands format here wont be received well IMO.
