  1. An interesting article about Titanfall 3 Electronic Arts didn't cancel Titanfall 3, Respawn did—and it didn't even tell EA for six months | PC Gamer WWW.PCGAMER.COM Respawn had been working on Titanfall "in earnest" for 10 months before deciding that battle royale was the future. I think the prospects of a new Titanfall game will depend on how spread thin the devs are and how many windows of opportunity there will be. Crazy how many projects they have worked on and are working on right now - literally babysitting DICE with Battlefield 2042, just finished Jedi Survivor, have 2 more Star Wars game and then another standalone titles in the works. If the team has to 'assist' aka take over development of a new Battlefield game then the prospects of another Titanfall will take a huge hit, more with time constraints that a direct internal competitor.
  2. Looks like a u-turn or dramatic change of policy could be on the cards Unity apologizes for controversial new pricing scheme, 'will be making changes to the policy' | PC Gamer WWW.PCGAMER.COM "Thank you for your honest and critical feedback." If this was pushed thorough, it would literally kill about 80% of the indie industry as well as the majority of ground-up developers.
  3. I don't really know much about the game but the whole situation smells like Tencent played a part. Probably woefully wrong but everything they seem to touch in this genre goes tits up.
  4. Pleased for Richard Arlison yesterday - goal and an assist to seal victory. Looked like it would be another bad day at the office after a promising start to the season. Spurs also have a nasty habit of losing games like this especially against Sheffield United's second string which they pretty much played like they did in the FA cup encounter last season. Seeing Chelsea down in 14th after spending £1.5bn is glorious and Man Utd ain't fairing much better either.
  5. Looks like Respawn have finally fixed Titanfall 2's multiplayer mode after several years of it being completely broken. Game is also £2.49 currently in the sale and seen a major resurgence last couple of days. Hopefully it's a sign that the previously cancelled Titanfall 3 may be rejuvenated especially with Apex being past its best despite still being popular. Out of the blue, seven-year-old FPS Titanfall 2 has fully working multiplayer again | PC Gamer WWW.PCGAMER.COM Dare we hope Respawn is planning something special?
  6. Costs £30 and currently sitting at a 14% positive score! I think we're at the stage where all the decent and established survival games have already been released. I'm certainly not following or risking any money on new ventures especially when the genre has been saturated for a very long time and innovations are rather sparse. Definitely one of the riskiest games to produce and get right, and extremely costly too.
  7. I'm still uncertain. Whilst it would be nice to revisit all the classic MW2 maps, £60 seems quite steep for a game they've concocted in just a few months. I've followed the development quite extensively outside of the usual happy-faced PR in the media and it's been quite rough and panicked, but at the same time Infinity Ward were given 3 years and 12x as many employees and they got into a bit of a mess for a variety of things. So hopefully Sledgehammer can surprise everyone and deliver a decent and simple COD game without overthinking or implementing needless and unjustifiable changes to the core gameplay. It's basically MW2 2009 recycled/remastered which isn't a terrible idea but it certainly wont keep as many people on board like that game did back in the day so they need to have a strong post-launch plan set in stone too. I think £29.99 would've been a fairer price all round but I'm sure I'll be able to nab a key as usual in the £32-37 ballpark anyway. May leave it a few days to see if the campaign is worth it also.
  8. This came out of nowhere! Coming to all systems including the Switch next February. Wont be an easy game to modernise but for £25 it could be a great package that offers 30+ hours of gameplay.
  9. Patch out 21st which is 5 days before the expansion releases Forget Phantom Liberty, Cyberpunk 2077's free 2.0 patch is a staggering upgrade on its own | PC Gamer WWW.PCGAMER.COM This is not the RPG you played in 2020. I'm quite sceptical about this patch - even the huge amount of updates and fixes previous didn't drastically make the game better. In some cases, sacrifices made seemed to make the game even more shallow and bland. It really needed a total overhaul and reworking so hopefully the patch delivers that.
  10. Oh so the rumours were right all along then - it's just a £60 glorified DLC dressed up as a new game, made in less than 8 months🤣 I do love the OG MW2 maps but I honestly expected them to appear with some original ones at least. Certainly be interesting to see how they play with more modern mechanics.
  11. Basically Forza Horizon from wish and one hell of a shameless scene-for-scene clone. I actually cannot believe how much of a rip-off this is. Real disappointment because The Crew games usually offered something different but this seems dreadful
  12. No real surprise as Sledgehammer usually deliver on quantity and I hope they can also follow through with original maps too like they did on Vanguard. It would be no good having 16 old maps and then just a handful of new ones - these maps have sat in the game files for years, likely as tactical withheld content, and some even released back in the original MW of 2019. If we can get at least 30 maps at launch then that would be great.
  13. Because making tens of millions just wasn't enough it seems Unity Bosses Sold Stock Ahead Of Scummy Dev Fees Announcement KOTAKU.COM CEO John Riccitiello sold 2,000 shares a week before Unity revealed its Runtime Fee It's gonna hit indie developers hardest and even some may end up pulling their games from sale. Unity is not small fry either - 37,000 games on Steam are made with the engine compared to 10,000 using Unreal. There's almost 750,000 products using Unity too so it's not like they need extra dosh for RnD or to compete with rivals. With Steam and other DRM holders taking 30%, it's really adds up. Lots of feedback here 'An astonishing scumbag move': Indie developers react to surprise Unity engine pricing changes | PC Gamer WWW.PCGAMER.COM Unity's new Runtime Fee will charge developers on a per-install basis. And this is hilarious
  14. Looks they've done away with the RPG-heavy and level aspects which is good news but whether that will be replaced with something equally exhausting or make the core gameplay the same throughout remains to be seen. World looks fantastic and hopefully it's more scaled down than their needlessly big recent games like Valhalla. Everything else still looks very much the same but if they've done away with all this padding and have a strong story throughout then it could be a game-changer.
  15. Talk of the devil Ubisoft's XDefiant Delayed After Being Rejected by PlayStation and Xbox - IGN WWW.IGN.COM Ubisoft's XDefiant failed to pass certification for first party platforms and its release date has been pushed back. Looks like they are aiming to release before Call of Duty if they can get it over the line with Xbox and Sony.
  16. Dying Light 2 has added a plethora of microtransactions and also forces users to buy their in-game premium currency to obtain in-game items. Another masterclass from Tencent - destroy your brand and alienate your players in the hope of making a few extra bucks die hard fans of the game. Lost count of how many games these shitty companies can absolutely ruin. Dying Light was an absolute masterpiece just less than a decade ago and to see the state of the series now and the ethics behind it is so sad. Dying Light 2 microtransactions spark review bombing, Techland replies | PCGamesN WWW.PCGAMESN.COM Dying Light 2 microtransactions prompt negative Steam reviews, as DL2 dev Techland says it will “figure out” the controversial feature in the zombie sequel.
  17. Fallout: New Vegas (2010)
  18. Still no release and we're creeping into MW3 territory now. If they don't get it out within the next 2 weeks then the only viable release window would be around March to May next year. Not sure what's happened after the beta phase - everything has gone awfully quiet and news has stalled somewhat. Releasing it now and it could very well with DOA or on life support in 8 weeks time. They really should've got this out in July.
  19. Oh dear! Skull and Bones Has Lost Its Third Creative Director - IGN WWW.IGN.COM Skull and Bones is suffering yet another breach in the hull, as Ubisoft's long-delayed pirate game has lost another creative director. I swear they just had a beta and the game's release was imminent! Oh well, delay til Q1 2024 incoming..
  20. It exists and seems to be a fairly powerful device to be more in-line with the PS5 and Xbox Series X. Nintendo Reportedly Demoed Switch 2 at gamescom 2023, Visuals ‘Comparable’ to PS5 and Xbox Series - IGN WWW.IGN.COM Nintendo reportedly revealed Switch 2 behind closed doors at gamescom 2023 last month, showing off the power of its upcoming next-gen console.
  21. I managed to secure a refund in the end. Disappointed but massively relieved! Biggest issue I had was the lack of exploration - go to ship > cutscene > sit down > cutscene > loading screen > press space > cutscene > map > click > cutscene > loading screen > exit seat > loading screen > resume within points of interest areas. Comparable indie titles such as No Mans Sky and Outer Wilds - go to ship > sit in cockpit > activate manual controls > manually fly to destination > land anywhere > turn off engine > exit seat > leave ship manually > walk anywhere. Bethesda's design formula just looks so limited and outdated for me. I honestly thought I wouldn't mind it being a fan of their previous works but it's just got too old and archaic for my liking as is the basic interactions which are quite frankly pathetic compared to Baldur's Gate 3 which was made in less time. Starfield is basically a fragmented open world game where you visit scaled down areas under the illusion of this unlimited universe which is merely made up of menu screens and tiresome loading and cutscenes. The immersion just died every time I walked into a building and I was met with yet another loading screen. Nowhere near as seamless as the developers initially portrayed. They are either deluded or as dishonest as they've always been.
  22. They will put more resources into ensuring people's feelings aren't hurt in lobbies with players they wont ever see again than using AI for detecting cheaters🤣 The people that are pushing this seem to be extremely toxic developers and streamers so it's the usual blend of hypocrisy. Imagine getting banned because you spoke too loudly in a match lmao! COD isn't the first to adopt this and it wont be the last but this is the beginning of the commie-lobby era.
  23. This is a good insight
