  1. Xbox definitely has never been in any control of the market even against niche Nintendo. PS2 is still to this day the biggest selling console of all time and every PlayStation console has sold substantially more than the 360 by tens of millions of units. Even the PSP sold 3x the rate of the original Xbox. The one thing Sony has always achieved was its relentless dominance over Microsoft in the past 30 years. The only things they got wrong IMO was the backwards compatibility and shitty online service but even then, it didn’t harm them at all.
  2. CS2 launched last night - bit disappointed they completely overwrote CSGO including achievements and data and also haven’t provided a legacy client. Did have a quick butchers this morning and it’s incredibly beautiful and smooth but they defo should’ve not wiped GO from existence. I was expecting a watered-down version to remain at least.
  3. Anyone still involved in this? In the last week or so, viewership has dropped below Diablo 2 and 3 to between 400-1300, plus several popular Diablo-focused content creators have not only stopped playing this game, but have also seemingly departed the series. Haven't been following much since post-launch but it seems things have gone from bad to worse and Blizzard has been making some rather bizarre and unworkable design choices. I was looking to jump into the game at some stage but it does seem in a really bad place right now and I'm not sure if they will be able to turn it around.
  4. I still remember the day when PC games made the transition to DVD cases. I was so used of having a big box with fat manuals and suddenly games were releasing in a plastic box with barely a few bits of paper inside. I think Max Payne was the first game I bought like this. Deux Ex was probably the last big box edition I got. The industry got so lazy, even the Gamecube mini-discs came in some full-on DVD case too!
  5. Resident Evil 4: Separate Ways DLC
  6. I think Sony will try and retain physical for a long as possible until the developers themselves deem it non-viable. It depends on the production costs and margins with wholesale retail in relation to the PS Store cut Sony take plus general demand. Not many retailers left on the high street now and those don't want to buy into dead stock. To be honest, games are mostly so shit these days, there's not many worth getting a physical for anyway and even then, the disc is worthless by virtue of a game needing a mandatory update to execute. I think the PS3/360 was the last worthwhile generation for collectibles and with Microsoft trying to kill off physical for the past 9 years and Playstation only having a few tangible exclusives worth picking up physically, it's basically curtains.
  7. I'm pretty sure it's the same guy who around a decade ago, once proposed that players PAY to reload their weapon in Battlefield i.e buy ammo on the go at the press of a button when in a match. One of the greediest and disgusting ideas imaginable. Surprised Activision didn't hire him but I guess he was too scummy even for them.
  8. Played about 5 hours of 2.0 and still undecided as to whether to get the DLC. They've definitely done a good job with fixing the base game and I'm sure the expansion with the complimented improvements is very good but I'm not sure if I'll even bother progressing the main game let alone beginning the Phantom Liberty story. I still feel for all the perks and RPG elements, this is a far too linear game for it to really make a difference. Sure you can do a few variable builds but it doesn't radically change how you approach or complete missions aside from perhaps the combat method and hacking a few things. At its core, this game will always be first and foremost an adventure game in an open world rather than an RPG. They can add all the padding they want but it will never shake off the linear and very basic design.
  9. Having something like this in the free western world would be pure dystopian hell. Digital currency is already a big part of the world but that is always based on real hard currency which is still tangible and exchangeable plus it's accepted in almost every single domain. Nothing with change in that respect and governments wouldn't endorse things like NFT's as recognised currency because digital serials of pictures and other tat don't pay bills. It will always remain as underground money that is only garnered from the exchange of what was recognised currency anyway.
  10. Finally Ubisoft use their brains! The first two games had their disappointments but were both very impressive titles especially in terms of scale and attention to detail. I couldn't believe it when they decided to go the F2P route with Heartlands and have a mobile version. Thankfully if they are doing a new mainline game then that's all that matters.
  11. Had a brief go at the 2.0 update having not played since 2020 and the game is massively refined since then with a host of improvements. The general UI seems much cleaner too which was crucial, but the really irritating phone bloat is still there and I still utterly loathe some of the sound effects which seem ingrained into the base game. Haven't tested out the police system yet though. I'll give it a few hours more and the make a decision on whether to continue and possibly get the expansion on top. Game looks and runs absolutely amazing
  12. Looks like Microsoft have a new console pencilled in for 2028 which will be the next gen.
  13. And the other 5% is absolute trash like Logan Paul laundering money via NFT's with his junkie buddies in that LA cesspool which is the only reason they have real money 'value'.
  14. Expansion is live now and confirmed at just £7.99!
  15. Phantom Liberty has been getting some good reviews today. CDPR once again are preventing the media from releasing their own footage but it seems to be a better experience which is further bolstered with the 2.0 patch. It's frustrating that we can't actually see it in raw action but at least users will be given the chance to play the new version before deciding on whether to invest in the expansion. I'm kinda in two minds minds as to whether I should even re-install it just to try but I may give it a go and it could even see me buy into the DLC if the game is radically improved. A part of me simply can't be arsed though!
  16. Probably avoid the Switch version
  17. Great goal
  18. Nintendo are so far ahead of Xbox that there would be no benefit or logic for them to sell themselves out especially to a western company. It would’ve detracted from their own system if they gave access away to their key assets and they would’ve lost their unique position in the global market. It would’ve also caused an outrage in Japan too I expect. L
  19. I expect we’ll also see a PS5 Pro emerge soon too. Microsoft certainly love having more consoles than exclusives😂Looks like they are also going to try and phase out physical gaming which won’t sit too well either for many. They’ll probably release 2 more consoles in 2026 also so I’ll probably wait for those if anyone has a first gen iteration so far.
  20. I think it's only $9.99
  21. This looks decent. I liked the original with its stunning visuals and sublime mechanics but it was a game that has some very bad habits which included Ubisoft-style radio towers, terrible stealth and painfully repetitive random events. Those flaws were really surprising because everything else was extremely polished. There was also some horrendous puzzle missions (that you could thankfully skip) which absolutely destroyed the pacing. Hoping this will improve across the board
  22. Separate Ways DLC coming 21st September
  23. An interesting article about Titanfall 3 Electronic Arts didn't cancel Titanfall 3, Respawn did—and it didn't even tell EA for six months | PC Gamer WWW.PCGAMER.COM Respawn had been working on Titanfall "in earnest" for 10 months before deciding that battle royale was the future. I think the prospects of a new Titanfall game will depend on how spread thin the devs are and how many windows of opportunity there will be. Crazy how many projects they have worked on and are working on right now - literally babysitting DICE with Battlefield 2042, just finished Jedi Survivor, have 2 more Star Wars game and then another standalone titles in the works. If the team has to 'assist' aka take over development of a new Battlefield game then the prospects of another Titanfall will take a huge hit, more with time constraints that a direct internal competitor.
  24. Looks like a u-turn or dramatic change of policy could be on the cards Unity apologizes for controversial new pricing scheme, 'will be making changes to the policy' | PC Gamer WWW.PCGAMER.COM "Thank you for your honest and critical feedback." If this was pushed thorough, it would literally kill about 80% of the indie industry as well as the majority of ground-up developers.
  25. I don't really know much about the game but the whole situation smells like Tencent played a part. Probably woefully wrong but everything they seem to touch in this genre goes tits up.
