The only problem I see with digital is I can get physical copies of newer games cheaper.

A lot of PS4 games I bought off eBay for £35 new and then traded in a week later for a profit. I've even got new(ish) games for £20-30 when they are still £50 digitally. I remember when companies justified season passes and microtransactions because of second hand sales so theoretically by this logic, if things do go digital, publishers would remove all such things...No chance of that happening!

This, there’ll be less competition and less deals

Yep! Digital tax is high so games will be around the £50-60 mark I expect even without production and shipping. It will kill off many retail stores selling as people would likely just buy from source especially if there are pre-order exclusives for the likes of PSN and Xbox Live. Nobody really goes out and buys digital keys from the likes of GAME for instance.

Instead of companies buying games in bulk, they'll likely just sell them on behalf of the publisher and receive a small 5% cut rather than buy 5,000 copies of a game for most stores at a bulk rate from pre-orders. I couldn't see GAME buying 10,000 keys at £45 a pop for instance.

    Anyone played on it yet?

I gave it a brief go which is weird because I don't really like Fornite, but Chapter 2 seems to continue strongly from the original and the new map no doubt will be a breath of fresh air along with the other subtle and quirky changes.  I still can't get my head around the building controls and how people can do everything so quickly!

  3. Whilst I understand their cause, they are really beginning to test people's patience.

I see the celebrity hypocrites who have spent most of their lives on private planes and being chauffeured around are now hiding behind an open letter instead of justifying their own individual hypocrisy and motivations. The protesters really aren't endearing themselves to the wider public and are wasting police time, resources and tax payers money. A lot of them including the guy dressed as a broccoli don't even seem serious about it and are just up for causing any chaos they can and getting attention not for their cause but for five minutes of fame. Next up someone will probably get badly hurt and then what..

  4. I'm not a huge fan of digital gaming despite 'owning' well over 500 of them. PC gaming has largely become digital only and with Microsoft releasing the Xbox One SAD edition, it may be a taster of things to come. I'm still hoping Sony will remain traditional but if it's not viable to have physical titles then they will move on. They'll probably want the drive space in the unit to either shrink the system or add more room for cooling and noise reduction elements.

Next up the industry will probably go exclusively streaming. If this happens then i'll probably give up with new games altogether. I still miss the days of popping into my local GAME store and having a good chat and browse of a wall of quality games. Midnight launches too. New game releases have lost their spark and only a small amount get me hyped these days.  Google Stadia can fuck right off.

  5. Prestige used to be a unique way of keeping people engaged a decade ago and COD has seen the likes of X more prestiges added and master prestige level 1000 in some games.  For some, it was the usual familiar format but for others it was the same old shit but made harder especially if more prestige levels were added where users would feel alienated because of sweats with too much time on their hands.

I'm not a fan of seasons but it's a good way to keep people interested especially if the content is good and it's done right. I just hope they don't fuck it up like Treyarch's BO4 themes.

So where does this making people stand playing Blizzard games like Overwatch and WoW? Do you vow not to play them or carry on? Genuinely interested in what people think and how they feel about this.

People will be mad for a week then everyone will still pre-order MW on Battlenet, play WOW and OW and get their Blizzcon tickets to see Diablo Immortal in action. The damage will likely be minimal for Blizzard.

  7. According to a leak by TheGamingRevolution, MW is scrapping the prestige system - once you reach the level 55 cap, seasonal ranks kick in instead with a separate level system and challenges. You will also apparently retain all unlocked weapons but these themselves have 80 levels to sift through. I'm guessing it'll take a couple of weeks to max rank and then we'll get milked with a battle pass formatted system.

If this is all true, IW are going to look red faced and they said he was 'ill informed' about everything despite his track record of insider intel!

  8. I'm not sure if this was the case on PS4 and Xbox One but in New Light on PC last week, everyone was bumped up to level 750. I managed to reach the soft cap of 900 after about 17 hours of doing Curse, Warmind and a bit or Forsaken missions, strikes and adventures. I am now finishing up everything on Forsaken (fantastic expansion) but am only power 903 now.  What's the best ways to bolster my gear?

The cross-play controller v mouse & kb debate is overdone in my opinion. Controllers have aim assist. Don't understand the fuss.

Even with aim assist, keyboard and mouse has such a huge advantage I've found. I ran into quite a few KBM users on the MW alpha + beta on PS4 and I didn't stand a chance. I also played in a few mixed lobbies on PC before the crossplay restrictions went live and I absolutely shredded some of the pad users that it was just no fun.

There are definitely a lot of controller users out there who play on low sensitivities that could probably go toe to toe with a few KBM users but most of the latter are ultra sweaty bastards who would do anything to win and play good even if it sacrifices fun and a fair game.

I do think there are a lot of games where this wont make much of a difference but games like Siege competitive have been plagued with people abusing such loopholes.

  10. Another calamity from Bethesda - it will be interesting to see if it was legitimately delayed because it's unfinished or if the publishers bottled it because of the insane release schedule especially with it originally being sandwiched in between RDR2 on the PC. It's now nicely placed in the middle of TLOU 2 and Cyberpunk. It also swerves Modern Warfare, Death Stranding and FF7R this way. I'd seriously be shocked if ID Soft were 6 months behind so I'd say Bethesda have made this choice.
