Football (Played with Feet)
GazzaGarratt and one other reacted to J4MES OX4D for a topic
Very disappointed with Spurs last night. Same old culprits making the same old mistakes. I would've personally just fielded a full-strength side instead of relying on players that have proven time and time again that they aren't good enough and also don't have a future at the club. There's probably 4 that still need offing and another 5 brought in which includes like-for-likes and a new recognised striker. Sanchez is about as good as Gary Doherty was back in the day.2 points -

We've needed to get rid of SΓ‘nchez for 2 seasons now and he's still at the club. Trying not to be too angry about the penalty miss but he's the reason we conceded the first goal too. Just not good enough. Where has this Kane money gone? And why haven't we prioritised getting a quality ST and backup CB? I believe Ange can do something with this team already, we just need to make sure he gets the deadwood out before that starts getting back into the changing room environment.2 points -
Games you love that are somewhat underrated by the gaming community
GazzaGarratt reacted to Luseth for a topic
So having picked up and really enjoying my Rog Ally it got me thinking about games I have in my steam library, some that are really quite good but may have been overlooked by most and I imagine we all feel that way about some games so let us know what games you loved but on the whole people may have missed. I think the first one that really came to mind for me is Alpha Protocol, if you ever wanted to play a video game that made you feel like James Bond I really feel this was it. It was made by Obsidian and published by Sega, Obsidian in fact have the rights back for this one I believe so they could one day bring it back.1 point -

Preparations for WoW Classic Cataclysm

So @Lurchzy and I jumped on the wow hardcore band wagon and really didn't enjoy it lol! However, I took the opportunity to go back to Wrath of the lich king classic and play my death knight again, loved it! Saw my paladin was level 64/80 and decided...I'm gonna get that fucker to 80 so I can have some choice in cataclysm! A week later and he's level 70 and i'm officially grinding it out in Northrend. It's funny how sometimes all you need is a little break from a game to enjoy it again!1 point -

Preparations for WoW Classic Cataclysm

I remember just getting sucked in back in 2004 and then playing until 2009 every hour of the day I could. The initial pull was always the social aspect of it. Sadly, nowadays I think itβs less common in games, even MMOβs. I only play COD if other people are online, with WoW you defo need some people to play with or you can get bored fast!1 point -

Ha ha indeed, some people do seem to look to be disappointed, although the reaction to NMS meant I was able to buy it for Β£5 π1 point -
I wrote this post about money during Covid and never posted it

Some great advice etc throughout this thread. I hold my hands up to spending years just wasting money and to a point the wife and I still do, Starbucks and takeaway food at breakfast time and my growing alcohol consumption which I blame squarely on COVID probably the worst. What turned it around for me is when work dropped off I realised if it happened long term I'd be screwed so I sorted it, that took a year but really helped. COVID then came along and I was fortunate to work through it and with not being able to do the things I enjoyed my bank balance grew and I now like Elliot suggested have a few months savings in hand. Now we did get credit for house improvements because of wife's disability and my car but I'm buying a new motorbike and instead of getting more credit I've ordered it for next year so I have chance to hopefully save enough to buy it and still have my buffer. I struggled when I was younger financially but got through it, 37 years and most on nights at the same company helped but it means that now I'm "ok" I don't mind a few wasteful decisions but I am forward planning more especially with the mortgage as paying that off would help me to retire early. Sorry it's so long π€¦1 point -
Best Retro Game Bosses
GazzaGarratt reacted to Luseth for a topic
I think my favourite bosses may be a little different, growing up with a lot of my games I rarely got to final bosses, whether it was a shorter attention span or not being good enough I don't know, however I did get to a few bosses when it came to JRPG's. I think the first one I always think of is a boss that I don't think you ever got to beat from memory - I thought her character was fantastic throughout, I know not a main feature but her loyalty to the crown, her strength, she came to her senses midway through the game, I don't think they realised at the time but if they had fleshed her story out a little more it would have paid off.1 point -
Starfield
TurboR56Mini reacted to J4MES OX4D for a topic
S is definitely holding developers back significantly with high-end technologies such as Unreal Engine 5 especially with Phil Spencer promising that every game on their current iteration would run at 60fps guaranteed - something Starfield wont. Devs are having to make a secondary version of their games with key optimisation features omitted and this takes and wastes time especially for a small and rather needless market. Microsoft also don't accept publishers skipping the S so they are forced to produce scaled-down versions for a far smaller market. Unreal 4/old gen games will remain for the next 3 years because Microsoft are holding games back and developers will also have to sit on the likes of UE4 a while longer rather than utilise UE5 as well as removing current gen tech such as ray tracing and dynamic upscaling. It's different with Starfield as it's an in-house game some time really doesn't matter about time and the Creation Engine is so old, it's still capable of making really expansive offline experiences. It's still possible that the S version of Starfield is another PS4 Cyberpunk and we've yet to see any gameplay from this version. It should run fine though. I wish Microsoft would stop releasing weaker consoles by intent to double-dip the market and increase unit sales though. The less powerful counterparts like the S have attractive price-points i.e Β£250 but after a couple of years, people will end up having to spend full price on the big brother console or run the risk of their games eventually not being supported or being stripped bare of features as well as performance woes. It just costs people more in the long run and even with this tactic, MS still struggle to sell units anywhere near Sony and Nintentdo.1 point
