Seen this all over the good old interwebz. Supposedly a fireworks factory, but holy fuck the shockwaves and size of the explosion in some of these videos going around. Michael Bay would jizz his pants.

Storing over 2,000 tonnes of ammonium nitrate next to a fireworks factory wasn’t a good idea. The explosion was heard and felt as far away as Cyprus and the scale of the damage is astonishing. Currently 70+ confirmed dead and 4,000 casualties. Absolutely horrific scenes all round!

Scary shit, can't even imagine how the locals in Beirut are dealing with this. It's similar to the explosion in Tianjin in China a few years ago

And now we have the wig wearing idiot in the US is claiming it was a bomb in Beirut!

It really doesn't make sense why there were such quantities of amonium nitrate were stored in such a way especially in such a built up area.  I guess it probably happens alot though and we only hear about it when things like this happen.

The crazy thing is the damange caused but from a military perspective the blast wasn't that big.  There's conventional bombs that are 5+ times the size and that's without going nuclear which can be 1000's of times larger.

Incredible, crazy scenes. Must be horrible and scary as hell to have been there when it happened. For a moment I thought everyone was gonna get sucked it to start with.

They should have got their chemicals like we award government contracts.

Form a £100 company, cosy up with an MP, then get awarded a multimillion government contract to produce something that doesn't work. No explosions guaranteed[emoji106]
