GazzaGarratt 11,056
England squad for first Ashes Test: Joe Root (capt) Moeen Ali James Anderson Jofra Archer Jonny Bairstow (wk) Stuart Broad Rory Burns Jos Buttler (wk) Sam Curran Joe Denly Jason Roy Ben Stokes Olly Stone Chris Woakes In steps Archer and Roy after the awesome World Cup win a few weeks back. I think they had no choice but to pick him. Hopefully, he'll be abit like Brett Lee when he burst on to the scene with over 90mph deliveries. As much as Bairstow has been the mainstay at Wicketkeeper, he just isn't consistent enough for me. I'd rather give Buttler a try behind the sticks although both are better batsman than WK. Sam Curran is likely to miss out even though he is a promising bowler. Woakes has really got into the groove for England now and I can't see how he can miss an Ashes game since his wicket taking average has come down a hell of a lot over the past few years. Woakes, Broad and Archer are a force to be reckoned with. Definitely thinking we won't see any draws with both sides likely to be more attacking when batting. I think it will be a tight one this year, first for a while. A 3-2 win overall for England is my prediction.
