All but confirmed pretty much.

Hopefully its boots on the ground, does concern me a little how they say "for old players and new players". Obviously the old players is about the original MW games, but part of me is thinking maybe the "new players" is referring to the jet pack shit again. Lets hope not...

Give me a suppressed Scar with ext mags again along with the killstreak that gives you ALL the perks and I will build a shrine for this game in my closet and jack off to it.

I don't think they'll ever be able to produce such an iconic game like the old MW ones again. Too much has changed in gaming from shitty business practices to how people want sweaty competitive g-fueled gameplay fought on 3 lane maps in eSport fashion despite the brand being 99% casual.

I often revisit the old COD's and they just ooze so much enjoyment and varied gameplay and none of the ones from this generation can get close to.  Using real weapons in real life locations with credible characters cannot be beaten.

The good news is that a few key staff from Respawn have gone back to IW to specifically work on this game and hopefully they can try and capture the brilliance of past titles but the way Activision and the the way gaming has changed; I don't know if they'll ever be able match what they did a decade ago.

I am dying for a proper military shooter again like a modern COD or Battlefield - hard to believe towards the end of last gen these games were saturated but I'm sick of all this futuristic fantasy bullshit now.

I think,we’ll I hope, they have learned over the past few games what people want especially in CoD. With the success of WW2 being back to basics type CoD and them obviously changing Blops4 mid development they have a idea of what we’re askimg for and wanting. I think the changes being made at Activision is in direct response to the quality of games they’ve been putting out as of late. Most of the cut backs aren’t at the game design level but higher up management. That’s the last I read at least.

Personally i I like the three lane maps. Always have. Don’t have the cluster fuck like the others have.

As long as they don't invest in a new game engine, COD will suck.

And 3 lane maps has been in COD for ages. Remember Favela, Subbase and the one with the plane and a cave? Excellent maps btw.

Don't think I'll ever buy a COD game again unless it's somewhere near MW2 and 3.

But the reason I loved MW2 is because that was my first one.

And the killstreaks was good, even for a mediocre player.

And Specialist in MW3 was brilliant.

3 lane maps are great but I'd also want a variety of maps like we had in BO, MW2, MW3, COD4, WAW etc.  Favela had multiple routes, elevation and excellent long sightlines. Sub base had the same plus a lot of outer action and Afghan offered multiple ways to play and significant flanking opportunities. Now days it's start the match and go either left, right or center and maybe chuck a nade or get ready to fire straight ahead. The MW2 maps weren't forced 3 lane maps; they were just well-designed and varied.  Even SnD has become a bit of a redundant mode in recent COD's because the maps just don't offer versatility. Traditional sniping has also been thrown out of the window and replaced entirely by quickscoping.

I can't remember the last time we actually had a COD game with an iconic map. Nowadays they seem to be very symmetrical, either small or small-to-medium or just long and narrow.  A lot of these modern COD maps are built with eSports in mind where the action is pushed into 3 lanes which diminishes different gameplay styles and brings aggressive sweaty gunplay to the fore.

This is what they said to their share holders on the earnings call which could send Bobby to jail if it was proven to not be true:

Activision will take a multi-pronged approach to funding that investment. First, the company will lower priority for games and initiatives that are not meeting expectations. Second, Activision will cut costs by integrating many of its sales, marketing, and sponsorship positions across the business, and lay off about 8% of its total workforce, removing what the company called "unnecessary levels of complexity and duplication" in certain parts of the business. With an estimated 9,600 employees last year, that means the company will reduce its staff by nearly 800 workers.

Hmm that could be bad news, either they've no idea what they want from the game or they're trying to get it as close as possible to be something we want.

I sit in hope but really it will all be pointless hope.

Please prove me wrong!

I've heard that they are actually ready to reveal the game any time between now and the next two months and have already paraded it around to a load of celebrities that have absolutely no affiliation or interest in the franchise. I reckon they are just strategically biding their time on when the best time to strike is i.e after the new BO4/Blackout operation has been launched and people's anger has peaked and interest has waned in the game. They don't want people getting hyped and lose focus on the current game by leaking too much on what is inevitably MW4.

Good news is that it will have a campaign and be a traditional MP experience without specialists. Too bad it's taken them the entire generation to do this and move away from advanced movement mechanics and other fantasy bullshit. Activision will ruin this no matter what although Infinity Ward did quite well in support IW last time but nobody was around to experience it.

The only thing that would make me buy a COD at this stage, is if they release ALL of the old maps for it (i.e. MW2, MW3, BLOPs1 and BLOPs2), for free.

So yeah, no more COD for me as it stands.
