Great servant for his country. No one can dispute his record.

 

I know in this era it's more common to see footballers retire from internationals to prolong their club career. However, I just wouldn't be able to if it was me.

 

It wouldn't have been classed as 'work' for me therefore playing at the highest level and the honour of your country needing you, it would be easy never ever retire.

 

I can see why even years after he played for England that David Beckham said he'd never retire from England.

Yet another England player who had to go through so much shit in his career, all of it undeserved. We're probably the only country who slam our best even when they're winning. Top goal scorer for England and all everyone talked about was how shit he's played.

 

One ex footballer even said he can't be classed as top because he never played well in a tournament. Did anyone play well in those tournament? Hard to play on your own.

 

Anyway, I might be slightly biased but he was a legend for England and a great goal

scorer.
