Hey guys.

I've never posted a topic before but After @GazzaGarratt mentioned that Mickey Mouse world of illusion was one of his all time favourite games, I wondered what eveyone else's all time top 5 games are and why??

I need to go away and have a think about mine, a list like this takes a lot of careful consideration!! Look forward to hearing people's answers 😊

Super Mario World

Arma 2 DayZ mod
GTA San Andreas

I'd add

Never played Contra or know much about it. Someone should do a write up in the Retro games thread.

I always find these lists so bloody hard. World of Illusion and Destiny are definitely in there. I need to decide what others go in there.

Skyrim by far the best

Mass effect 2 campaign

Mass effect 3 co-op

Luigi's Mansion gets a honorable mention because of the amount of time I spent with the kids playing that thing

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt PC

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time N64

Deus Ex PC

Metal Gear Solid PS1

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Xbox 360

Top 5 doesn't really do it justice as there are so many other amazing games bursting to get in like Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Super Mario 64, Black Ops, San Andreas, PES5, The Last of Us, Skyrim, Vice City etc...

Narrowing this down to 5 is a huge ordeal because I have some pretty significant memories for these games.

Mario Kart 64 (1996) - This game is where my only child/ super competitive nature came out. I was obsessed with challenging anyone I could at it, learning proper lines and being a cunt to other friends. This is probably a game and a series I will talk the most garbage in, with my confidence level never less than 100%. Battle mode was the most intense giggle fest and loved every minute of the game.

Zelda: The Ocarina of Time (1998) - This game I remember being 12 and my next door neighbor (10) had it. The weird part was we weren't super good at it but his older sister was so we just loved watching her play it while backseat gaming; plus she was the older neighbor girl so clearly I had a thing for her. I remember how crazy technical and in depth the game was but so graphically amazing. When I finally got around to the game myself the water temple to this day will still be one of the hardest gaming zones I have ever experienced. I went back to the game in my late twenties and beat the water temple in 15 minutes... I sucked at games back then...

Diablo 2 (2000) - This should be on everyone's list and I want to call anyone a liar if it's not. This game to me was all about numbers, min maxing, efficiency and probably one of the best games I have ever played in my life. Character rush to cow nightmare/ hell difficulty on my fresh level 2 necromancer: Blood Golem and Iron Maiden... Javazon... Fanaticism Pally... I was never able to find a Windforce bow, always had to settle for a Buriza.

Delta Force 2 (release 1999, but I started playing in... 2004?) - Holy crap guys, here we go: internet gaming. I had my Compaq Presario with an Intel Celeron D, the purple tower face plate. AOL 7.0 discs widely in use and a friend of mine let me borrow this game. This started a lot for me, I started getting involved with Photoshop and the NovaHQ community as a designer, I started my own signature request forums/ website with other players. I met a group called Natural Born Killaz (NBK) and I still talk to every single one of them to this day with a fantasy football league going on year 12... We competed in Search and Destroy on the Black Flag League circuit. This was my first time with a headset and the voip system Roger Wilco and this I attribute 100% to my desire to compete online against others, online leagues and competitive FPS games.

Left 4 Dead (2008) - Xbox 360 and this game was pretty interesting to me as a co-op game. I ran into a guy from Texas online who started showing me all these neat "instakill" spots with a specific zombie and he then told me about MLG's game-battles and the competitive scene. Absolutely hooked, counting down from 3-2-1 to land instant attacks that if done within the exact second of your teammates is an instant win, immobilizing the other team. I learned to walk all 4 movies completely backwards in my role for the team. I then build my first gaming pc and find the Cyberathlete Professional League (CPL) and CAL. It was probably the first game I went semi- pro in.

Honorable Mentions:

Guild Wars - Met one of my closest friends from there and almost qualified with my team for worlds in Leipzig, Germany.

TMNT: Turtles in Time.

Pokemon: Red & Blue.

Give this man some depth, he wants to know why!

Haha yeh i was interested in knowing why but it's ok it's good to see what people have enjoyed.

In any order.

Destiny
World of Illusion
Halo
Super Mario Kart
Super Smash Bros Melee.

Destiny brought me here to meet you guys and gals and I wouldn't be having an awesome time with games if I wasn't here. Period.

World of Illusion - I've said it in the retro section, this game is simply beautiful and completed it many times. Many memories banked on this.

Halo (followed closely by Halo 2) made me realise I'm a sucker for a good story and I absolutely rocked at Uni for my only year there playing LAN matches split screen smashing my uni mates. It was a little bigheaded at the time but I didn't realise then that my player name was God. Rarely finished anything other than 1st on those games. The pistol two bullet headshot from across the map never got old.

Similar to WoI, I have awesome memories playing this with Martin at his house. We still play this every time he comes round.

Super Smash Bros Melee. I loved my gamecube to bits. And I played this solidly for this first 24 hours of its release. So many game modes and I loved unlocking the characters.

Special mentions to FF7 as its the best Final Fantasy I've played and Links 2004 on xbox, possibly my best online competitive game. I didn't have to look most of the time to put 40 feet balls in the hole.

I decided on my top 5.

Final fantasy 7 on ps1. I loved the story, the characters, the turn based fighting, the way you had to mix potions, just everything. Never actually completed this game though as I never had enough HP to win he last battle.

mario kart on Super Nintendo. My favourite Racing game, it was a lot simpler back then where the driving felt pure and the power ups genuinely affected play. @GazzaGarratt and I had some epic battles and we still play it to this day every time we we see each other. I am always toad on top screen and Lee is koopa troopa on bottom screen 😊

championship manager on PC.

the amount of hours i wasted on this was crazy.  Not sure what version it was but Lee and I had this mad game where he was Leeds and I was arsenal we must have got to about 10 seasons deep. He signed Robbie Keane on day 1 and he just scored a stupid amount of goals and Lee cleaned up every trophy going! Another long game we had was with AC and Inter Milan, I recall Lee grabbing a young David beckham which turned out well

Overwatch on PS4.

this is the game I've enjoyed playing on multiplayer the most 😊 Has been a pleasure being the lucio support to some of you more talented players. I love the different characters and the maps and game modes, it's just such a well put together game.

My final pick is probably Command and conquer red alert. Probably not a classic game but this was the first game I used the link up wire where you use 2 TVs and 2 play stations which was cool.

there are a few others that I loved playing, again mostly with Lee. Super monkey ball mini games, super smash brothers melee, Atlanta 96, Nagano 98, pes 5, resident evil, metal gear solid, v rally, toca touring cars and the worms games
