Thats class @Greboth! Annoyingly for us, like GT, you still haven't lost it 😄

Awww shucks! You'll make me blush!

How about an Iron Man too.  Still a few problems with getting used to the markers and lighting but better than the above.  I think it's time to try a more original piece though I know my anatomy is terrible but there's only one way to get better at it.

Thread bump and something different from me.  I’ve been doing some sketching recently and fancied getting back in to more traditional media so broke out the alcohol markers for the first time in at least 15 years (God! I feel old now 😞) A few issues and problems with the drawing both in colour, lighting and technique but nice to have something real for a change than pixels on a screen.

Chatting about it the other day, I think we all played it a little too video game linearly (go here, do this, go there, kill that) rather than taking advantage of the openness it offers.  As Elliott was saying, at the end, about some of the things we could have done.  Also I watched a little of Critical Role's season 3 campaign, not so much for the entertainment of it, but it's interesting seeing how they play in terms of interaction with each other, asking more in character questions to the DM or even more random things like pickpocketing an NPC, going to get a beer mid quest or even just walking off as a fight takes place.  But all that is going to come with experience of DnD as it was quite bitty as we kept needing to ask questions on what to do or what we could do.  Not to mention more familiarity with your character and getting used to playing that role.

But it has definitely piqued my interest and would definitely be down to having another go.  I appreciate for our first go, or goes, a one and done is best but I do see the appeal of a much longer campaign though, this is FG, so we'd never manage to organise it for more than a few weeks 😄

Meet Greboroth, A ranger and the bastard son of a Noble elf and his human mistress.

Greboroth.thumb.jpg.08dd491ba79ae0d4da79f7dcf2372b35.jpg

Embarrassed and disowned by my father I hide my elf heritage as I wander from town to town tracking and killing the monsters and evil that walk in the wilds.  I prefer to be alone in the wilds but the towns I find along the way do provide a good, warm, and safe nights rest.  Not to mention mead!  Unfortunately on this night, I found myself drinking in a strange dwarf tavern.  I knew I wasn't welcome as the sign hung above the door read 'no pointy ears' but I knew if I kept my ears covered I could pass as human and the Dwarves make the best mead.  I drank one cup of mead, then two, three and four...drinking until the dawn.  Seeing the sunrise I knew it was time to leave but in getting up to leave in my drunken state, I slipped on the mead all over the table and falling to the floor I revealed my elvish side to the tavern.  Instantly I could feel every Dwarves blood boil at an Elf in their tavern so I tried to make a run for it but I couldn't run faster than their axe which hit me in the back.  As I lay dying, I heard the Dwarf walk over and mumbled that no-one is welcome in a tavern full of drunken dwarves.

Paint depends on what look you want to go for as obviously you can get much finer detail hand painting like you miniature's v spray painting.  Maybe check out Punished Props? I've done any 3D printing or painting but watching their videos they mix and match depending on what they're doing so they could give you an idea of when to use spray v brush, plasti dip vs acrylic etc.

They were hoping you'd say that, because now its impressive. 😎

@Greboth, utter ridonkulous drawings mate. Love the one over the shoulder of the car door, so realistic its a little unnerving 😅

Well it helps that they're 3d models and not drawings 😛 I've certainly done drawings similar to this, I think I posted a couple when I started this thread.  But God no, I wouldn't want to do that 7 drawings of the same car to that level of detail!

Oh man the e-type is on my top five list for sure. Along with a DB4-GT, Delahaye 165, Bugatti TYPE 57 AEROLITH, and the Dusenberg Model SJ Speedster. The 30's knew how to design cars my friend and it's the last thing the French were good at...I'm a sucker for anything with a boat tail as well!

I can't argue with you on that though I have to say, personally, I'm a sucker cars of the 80's and early 90's.  Though now I think of it, every car I love from that era are all Group A touring cars or Group B rally cars 😄

So the Artura went by the way side as I got mired in the details.  So I started something else instead, a 1961 Jaguar E-type - easily one of the most beautiful cars ever made.

If I may offer a challenge...1955 Merc 300SL Gullwing. Seeing that one last night with the doors open in the show room makes the bits tingly. I think it would be a good challenge to model it with the doors open and give a go to the partial interior as well!!! Mercedes Silver on red leather or no dice...love the work here, great job.

Not a mini? 🤯 😆

I’m working on a McLaren Artura at the moment.  All the models posted above are done from blueprints so fancied a challenge of doing a new car without blueprints.

The 300SL is a classic though so could give it a go next.  Interiors are a bit of a pain but I’ve not done a doors open model so that would be a new challenge.  I’ll see how long it takes to finish the Macca as having to mode a lot of detail at the rear so it’s taking a while.

I don't know how much I can comment TBH, I learned photoshop as a hobby along side my degree so it's possible to learn it to a reasonable level as a hobby.  Though I've never used it professionally to be able to comment on that side.  Though I can say, I'm aware that I do have gaps in my knowledge due to learning through tutorials and things which may not exist had I learned it formally.  I don't know if it is an issue but something to consider if your ultimate aim is to use it professionally.

Photoshop is a fantastic program and certainly has it's uses for design and editing existing photos/images/logo's etc but I know most logo work will be carried out in Illustrator simply as it's a vector based program v photoshop being raster based.

The biggest tip I think for anyone starting out would be learn the keyboard shortcuts - there's a LOT of them but knowing them makes your workflow easier.  Some of them are pretty simple to learn, B for brush, T for Type etc. some not so much but still make sense like G being for bucket fill (it's because it's on the same tool as gradient fill) though some make no sense like V for move or O for dodge/burn/sponge tool.  On the subject of shortcuts, shift+shortcut key will rotate through the different options of the same tool (so g to select gradient fill, shift g to change to bucket fill, shift g again will take you back to gradient fill).

Hey question is there a free artwork program for free that can help me make a logo for my cousin’s business I’m working with jeta and gimp but can’t seem to get the two to cooperate is there any thing I can do?

I've never heard of Jeta before today so I can't really offer any advice with respect to it.  What are you trying to do that they aren't co-operating?

I'm guessing, creating a logo in Jeta and you want to use it in GIMP for other stuff?  With regards to the logo though, GIMP should be able to do most if not all of it on it's own without the need for Jeta.  Though if you want a dedicated vector program, InkScape is free.

Fair play mate, each to their own.

Although, I now will forever worry for you that these aren't sexy to you 😩 What about Audi R8's?

Nope.  They’re not ugly by any stretch of the imagination but they aren’t sexy either in my opinion.  Compare an R8 to almost any Lamborghini, Ferrari 458, 812, 360, 308, 250, a lot of Jaguars, Aston Martin’s.  Even more normal cars like Peugeots 406 coupe, Peugeot 306, Mk1 Focus - especially the RS, Mazda Rx7 fd, most Alfa Romeos etc.  The R8 just doesn’t come close.

Yup, though to add to the above list almost every classic muscle car makes the list.  Mustangs, Cobra’s, Corvettes, GTO’s, Impala’s.

You’re going to hate me for saying this but I don’t like Keonigseggs.  I can appreciate that they turn everything up to 11, the design and engineering behind all of that but the looks don’t do it for me.  With the exception of the 720s, I find McLarens the same.

I don’t know what’s next, as I said above I’ve got the dtm inspired mx5 but that was a model I started years ago.  Though that isn’t one I can finish, I’ll probably have to re-model everything.  So thinking of starting a different project instead but haven’t figured out what yet.

Diddums suggested there Bugnotti Delahaye but no blueprints exist for it so I think it’s a bit beyond me to do right now.

Ah cool, nice keeping to the original history mate. So is the passion to recreate a design and then make one modded to your own ideas? Concept cars are usually the best to look at and have a visual orgasm - probably cos we never get to see the real version 😍😩

The modifying of cars in 3d is nothing new but for me not really, the modded Alfa just came about because I happened to be talking to the old man about old racing cars; E30 M3's, Sierra Cosworths and Capri's and I got curious about what the Alfa would look with a massive widebody on.  Plus, as I'm new to this sort of modelling, it was something I hadn't done so thought I'd give it a go.  The first car I started modelling in this type of 3d was 5 or 6 years ago and was a DTM style kitted MX5 and one day I plan to finish that.  Generally, though I'm more interested in recreating a design to try and be as close to the real thing as possible.  I'd like to eventually get around to creating my own concepts but it's a whole new ball game from creating a model from blueprints and loads of reference pictures to trying to create a design from nothing.  One day though.

Bloody hell @Greboth that's awesome! Honestly i geniunely thought one was real life and then I couldn't work out which one was not real!

Btw, do Alfa Romeos have that random clover on it or did you add it as a mod?

The one on the c pillar? It’s the quadrifoglia badge used on high end Alfa Romeo’s and their racing cars for years.  It’s on the original car so I kept it though it does tie in the car nicely with history.

So I finished this one a couple of weeks ago, just never posted it.  So I present my complete Alfa Romeo 105 Giulia, I managed to model this one quicker than the Lancia above but I spent more time working out the specifics of rendering so this looks more "real".

49981590061_e4b08c5018_h.jpg

And of course, it's mandatory in these situations to add a massive widebody to any car modelled in 3d 😄 Somewhat inspired by the Zakspeed Capri and on Lancia Stratos wheels.

Incredible Greebs. You really have been keeping busy! That looks perfectly done mate, is this something that now you've done this one you'll be able to do more and do them quicker?

Thanks mate, yeah apart from a few hours in Minecraft this was all my free time for 3 weeks.  As for being quicker next time, I think a little.  Although I think each model will have unique challenges so I’m not sure that much quicker until I’ve done 5, 10, 20 etc of them.

Thank you Philly, yeah those pesky Italians do love to drive on the wrong side 😆 I realised after doing all the renders, I missed the wipers too but I cba to re render everything.  Though might model them anyway for completenesses sake.

So after quite some time out of this thread it's finally time for an update.  So after a little over 3 weeks work, I present a Lancia Delta Integrale Evo modelled and rendered in Blender.

Back:

Video:

Video isn't the greatest quality as it's only 720p but that still took ~12.5 hours to render so no way was I going to make higher res.
