It's hard to imagine you never listened to Metallica until circa St. Anger. I don't like much of their stuff after the Black Album, but it's just personal taste. I really like the Black Album and Kill 'em All, but for me the big three are Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets, And... Justice for All. Those three albums were an enormous part of my high school and early college years. The thing I like most about Metallica is the masterful riffage combined with an incredible sense of song structure. Good shit.

 

A lot of my favorite songs have to do with my struggles with alcoholism. One in particular is Nightminds by Missy Higgins. I honestly don't know what it's actually about, and I don't want to find out, because it seems like it was written about me. The melancholy tone and the lyrics which exactly describe my highs and lows and my wife's desperate struggle to understand what's going in my head. Hearing it is both exquisite and gutting at the same time. I have to thank my brother for introducing me to Missy Higgins, one of the greatest gifts he ever gave me.

The most hours I have in a game is 601h, 42m, 9s in Mass Effect 3 multiplayer. In Destiny I stalled out at 264 hours.

Level doesn't mean much in terms of character or gear. Everything is rebalanced for PvP and low level players could easily be experienced players starting a new character. I rather like the pvp, though it took me a while to warm up to. Here are some tips to hasten you along your way.

 

The mini map is a proximity motion sensor. When someone gets close to you, you'll see them and they'll see you. There's no way to be 'invisible'. If you crouch, you'll appear on enemy maps intermittently rather than continuously, so that helps a little.

 

Like any pvp shooter, it takes a while to get a feel for the maps and the spawns. Pay careful attention to places that heavy ammo drops and take advantage of it. Rocket Launchers and LMGs fuck shit up in pvp.

 

In Control, scoring doesn't work like Domination. It's still team death match, but for each flag you control, your team gets bonus points for every kill. Continually throwing yourself on a flag isn't a good idea, since every time you get killed, the other team is closer to victory. Be selective about how and when to take a flag, but once you have it, find a position of advantage from which you can defend it.

 

If you can team up with two buds, play skirmish, it's 3v3.

The PS3 UI is soooooo much better. Granted it doesn't have as many features, but the PS4 UI seems like a step backwards every time I swap consoles.

Run VoG normal until you get Corrective Measure, it was practically my favorite gun in the game. Heavy machine gun, laser accurate, tons of ammo, hits hard, and chews through Oracles and Minotaurs like their paper mache craft projects made by little Susie in kindergarten.
