I haven't heard or seen anything about this one, which is weird. Although, a few other games have exploded and took over the internet over the last month. Compared to Valheim, where would you put it?

I just bought it too, and spun up an FG server. Folks have said it's a more in-depth Valheim. I will keep you posted and let you know how I like it.

  2. I'm really enjoying the ship building, I've built some really neat ones for different purposes. An auto turret exploration ship, a massive cargo ship for base building, a battle frigate, and a mining ship. Takes a lot of skill points to get all the cool shit, still unlocking high end parts as I go, lvl 40 now, 100 or so hours in.

  3. It's definitely real, definitely concerning and some are working on it. We have no choice in the energy sector worldwide. We have specific targets in NY to meet and regulation to back it up. I hate to say it, but without it, the world's toxic capitalism would let everything burn. We carry it as a risk and are spending billions at our company for mitigation. Climate refugees are starting to be a thing, will be much more profound over the next decade as the sea consumes low lying island communities and coastal areas all while storms become more extreme. We are spending a lot of money on ensuring the climate science is solid and promoted, happy to share more if anyone is interested.

I progressed through the main quest just before the final mission, so I decided to try and find the rest of the temples and do some side quests.  The halfway point kind of got me interested in the main story, and my buddy Adrian's spoilers from the podcast the other week also helped.  I'll probably finish it up over the weekend.

    Good, but not great.

I'm 75 hours in, and I've barely done the main mission lol

  5. Glad you're enjoying it! I did a lot of the ranger story but now seems bugged for me. I can't turn in the third tablet to the guy to progress. It shows up that I can press "e" but then just doesn't work. I've tried multiple things and nothing, so I moved in to the mantis story which was cool and now I'm at the end of the UC/Crimson fleet story. I've not progressed the main line really either. Since base building pisses me off right now, I focused on ship building! I'm now able to fly class C and built a sweat destroyer ship along with a few others.

I managed to secure a refund in the end. Disappointed but massively relieved!

Biggest issue I had was the lack of exploration - go to ship > cutscene > sit down > cutscene > loading screen > press space > cutscene > map > click > cutscene > loading screen > exit seat > loading screen > resume within points of interest areas.

Comparable indie titles such as No Mans Sky and Outer Wilds - go to ship > sit in cockpit > activate manual controls > manually fly to destination > land anywhere > turn off engine > exit seat > leave ship manually > walk anywhere.

Bethesda's design formula just looks so limited and outdated for me. I honestly thought I wouldn't mind it being a fan of their previous works but it's just got too old and archaic for my liking as is the basic interactions which are quite frankly pathetic compared to Baldur's Gate 3 which was made in less time.

Starfield is basically a fragmented open world game where you visit scaled down areas under the illusion of this unlimited universe which is merely made up of menu screens and tiresome loading and cutscenes. The immersion just died every time I walked into a building and I was met with yet another loading screen. Nowhere near as seamless as the developers initially portrayed.  They are either deluded or as dishonest as they've always been.

I've seen similar comments from the same folks who shit on NMS when it was launched. It was too open, not enough detail, too much RNG, blah blah. Not a shot at you at all but it feels like nothing will make everyone happy. As a lover of space games, I'm enjoying it for what it is, a massively large single-player game with no mico transactions, which is all but a dead breed. We should all want this game to do well because if it doesn't, we will all be stuck with the 34th iteration of the same shit with COD, FIFA, whatever bullshit Destiny is up to, and all the same from mind-numbing MMOs.  As always, some will love, some will hate, and some will just appreciate the time, effort, and overall skill involved with producing a game like this. I love this game, No Man's Sky, and Elite Dangerous, space is always the hardest genre to do because of its expansiveness. Appreciate the pov and remember, we are all living in an illusion.

Oh wow, I'm loving it so far. Feels like a game I'm going to spend a lot of time in.

I was really worried my GPU wouldn't cut the mustard. But no, on medium settings it runs really well.

Yea i'm doing side quests and playing around in the shipbuilder, since I keep getting my shit pushed in on the main one as I jump into a system and get borked by 3 ships.... As of last night, I'm now a Ranger! I've also sent up my first tiny mining outpost for aluminum. Will be doing an Iron one next. I think I'm running on ultra on a 3080 and it's not nearly as hot as playing 7DTD so I'm happy with that. It really feels like an ultra-extended space fallout which I'm good with. Still trying to figure out the mechanics as there is some automation and factory production in the game too. Lots to figure out! Up to 3 ships at the moment too.

The peasant launch was 1am last night and I played the Xbox version until 2.30am. I liked it.

My Steam version is currently updating and I'll be on that this morning before the sun forces me outside to sit in the park 🙂

Peasant launch 🙂. I was not going to get the pre-release until I saw it came with the expansion. That, and it let me play a day and change early after my long weekend so I said fuck it, will be buying it on Steam for the mods anyway! I did see @Bluebear playing quite a bit, no review, no word, no nothing... tisk tisk Nick.

  9. First 8 hours in, it's fallout in space but better. The gunplay is far superior to Fallout, the planets are beautiful, been to a few. It will be slow to start off and many many things seem to be locked behind the skills tree etc. I already found a random ship while dicking around on a planet, immediately stole it and I'm now flying around with the bodies of my enemies in the cockpit! :). So far it's fun and engaging but first thing I absolutely fucking hate is Bethesda's inability to support 32:9 resolution. It's 2023 and this should not be a problem to run a 5120x1440 resolution, especially in a AAA tittle.

Reviews are slowly drifting in and it's not looking too good from the big boys. 75% on PC Gamer and a 7/10 from IGN and Gamespot so far. These are perfectly good scores however this game was supposed to be the masterpiece across the board that justified Microsoft's acquisition of Bethesda and it being the huge console seller to bring Xbox closer to Playstation. Early indications suggest this isn't gonna be it although review scores are largely subjective and should be taken with a pinch of salt. Regardless, I expected a bit of a better media reception.

It's silly to think this will sell more Xbox consoles to me as it's not "exclusive" since it's available on PC. Unfortunately we don't understand what words mean these days. When it's PS exclusive, it really is! Like GranTurismo. You cannot play it on any other platforms. I'll be playing Starfield on PC because fuck Xbox. To me, 10/10 I would spend the money on a PC and play whatever I want vs buy a new gaming system. As long as Xbox is tethered to PC, it will never be exclusive or match PS.

  11. It's a Bethesda game, using that knowledge, it seems like it's much better than typical for them. I'm also one of those gamers that got platinum on NMS in the first year when everyone was bitching and moaning, I also played Fall Out 76 when everyone was complaining, and others. Not being satisfied is based on your own expectations. Folks with untenable expectations will never be happy playing anything. I'm stoked for sure, delaying the game was the right move.

  12. Do you really care to walk around a planet? Seems ridiculous to judge a game based on something the developers never actually said. It has been confirmed that you can land anywhere with drop pins or something like that. I'm of opinion that you can't make someone happy no matter what if they get pissy about not spending years of real life walking around a planet in a video game. Those type of people just want to see the world burn.
