This is an example of the "Towny" claim system. The upper left red block is one full 16x16 chunk The large outlined red block at the bottom is 4x chunks. Inside this red "Town" I can control if Mobs spawn, if other players can /Warp to me, or if other players can build/ Destroy/ etc.. Basically its your "Town" to do WTF you want I can edit this picutre if you guys can't read it, but this is what the towny controls look like. Town size 8/8 means I have claimed my 8 chunks. (This is just for testing. You guys can buy more chunks or merge Towns, or create nations etc... All give you more chunks to play with) This is a pic of me getting paid for killing a zombie. The ideal spot for you might be a desert to be honest. Also, I have added in the ability to /set home, and to /warp to various places. One of which will be spawn. That way you guys can always get to the spawn point, and then back home again. Also, with the Chest shop I am setting up, there will be a market place for you guys

Map of what the new Landscape looks like, The red Box is the world border. The total land mass is 6000m x 6000m (3000 m radius around the spawn point, which is the globe, in the center. As you can see its been pre-rendered. I actually thought this was going to break my PC LOL

We don't really want to exclude folks from playing, and at some point I think it would be cool to allow "others" to join us. So that being said, as cool as it was to do all the work I did; that server is now scrapped and I am building a Craft Bukkit server. The good news for you fluffers is that it means you will only ever have to manage the mods you want to play with on your own end. [Essentials] - 100% configured needs to be tested again [Towny] -Allows players to purchase blocks of terrain to build on. Player controls all permissions inside the block (Within reason) - 99% configured [McMMO] - Adds in several skills and rewards that just make the game a shade more fun to play - 99% configured Configured but needs more Testing:[Vault] - this is a wrapper to help link all this cap together. [Chest Shop] - Player driving economy. Got to much dirt? SELL IT! Need Cobble? BUY IT... etc Unable to Test until we have a Server: [World Edit] - Plug in needed to stop griefing and crap- Unable to test until we have this on an actual server [World Guard] - Plug in needed to stop griefing and crap- Unable to test until we have this on an actual server [Log Block] - Plug in needed to stop griefing and crap - Unable to test until we have this on an actual server Removed[Grief Prevention] - At this point I am pulling this as it is causing me more problems then its worth.

Sidenote: so, I burnt down the spawn today...... I forgot to turn off the doFireTick game rule, and when I released the lava to flow around the spawn tower, it burnt most of it down...... I am repairing it now, but am leaving the one remaining structure that I was able to repair, because it looks cool. Its a giant spiral staircase that goes from level 38 to 93

Random thought: What we could do is play with the setup we have now, and test the waters as far as how long people plan on playing and contributing and what not. When Minecraft 1.7 comes out everything will change. ( I seriously mean everything, that version will be tits out AMAZING) We can at that point decide upon the direction to take and what mod pack to use.

There is a lot to it, and the Forge Essentials documentation is horrible, I wasn't even able to figure out how to give my son permission to /fly in his own world. If we scapped the setup we have now and went pure Bukkit, then the I could do all of it without an issue. Its Forge plugin system that breaks it apart. Not sure if you guys know this or care but here: There are two plugin code bases for Minecraft Bukkit - Think Windows OS Forge - Think Linux OS MCPC is the mix of the two. (See above posts on why I don't just jump to using it.) Bukkit is great for what it does and because it was the first code base out there, it has the most documentation, the most variety of plugins, and more people are familiar with it. Forge is harder to use, but the mods get insanely detailed and once you can get them to work, you will never stop using them.

That depends on MCPC. If MCPC gets updated to Minecraft 1.6.4, then figure a week or so of testing. (This is an approximation, it could be a few days, it could be longer) Without MCPC being updated, I would need to start from scratch and go back to Bukkit. The level of protection needed for a public server is just way to much.

Server spawn! So this little slice of green in the Volcano is the spawn Reverse view, with some of my construction started in it. There were two lava flows here that were covering most of the spawn. I blocked them up with glass and will reuse them later The Lava uncovered a dungeon

Doesn't matter where we advertise, the same situation arises. Neither is above the other. Regardless, lets use this sticky as the spot where we work out issues with connections and mod packs, and use the State of the Server thread for discussions like this.

It totally works better with BF4 instead of CoD

So here is the problem as it stands right now. We have always played by the honor system, we all know each other and we know not to be a bunch of dicks. We play with zero protection, and the server has zero protection currently built into it thats not based on the above. Reddit is not like that at all. Reddit is a bunch of whores that seriously get around and will infect your junk, steal your DVD's, and then burn your house down. I am 100% cool with going in that direction, BUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will need loads more time to get the server running with some sort of world border, and Block logger. Not to mention backups and permissioning. The world load grows exponentially, and other than offsetting the cost of the server, there isn't a large turn around on investment. That being said, I am okay with going down that path, and I even talked with Dave about it a few days ago, we just need loads more work first. Forge Essentials will have to be set up and explored. Or MCPC will have to update to 1.6.4. (If MCPC updates, then I can skip Forge essentials, and start using a few other Bukkit mods that I know fairly well.)

Okay, Cal I will be making a HUGE # of changes here to the writeup. Going to need time though. So, delete everything except the ZIP file you downloaded, and the Minecraft162.exe file Download the Forge installer that I have linked in my Google Drive, and then follow watch the video!

Ye,a its not an archive, its a java program. Winzip treats all JAR files as archives. Right click, tell it to Open With..... java and then you will be fine

EDIT: MAKE SURE TO REPOINT THE INSTALLER OF FORGE TO WHERE YOU UNZIPPED THE MINECRAFT CRAP I SENT YOU!
