I just wanted to start some conversation about this game. I know a lot of us are aware of it, and it is tipped to release this year with an as yet release date. I'm cautiously intrigued by this game. It's an EA version of an open world shooter which is supposed to be a Destiny killer. My concerns are over whether EA are able to deliver a game which will bring value back to gamers rather than screwing gamers over. I have a loose hope that they've learnt from the crap around Battlefront 2 and everything that went wrong with that. I guess I could be wrong, but it still looks like an interesting game, and if executed properly by EA it could very easily become a Forever Gaming mainstream game. I'll use this thread to post updates as they come out, and maybe closer to release we can make more of featured post about it, but for now I'm happy for people to update with what they know, discuss how they feel about it or just generally blast EA...

I'm not really sure to be honest - I think it has some limitations on amount of cars or something? If it doesn't then fuck it, send the copy back and stick with the free version. I guess I could stroll on over to Mr Google and ask him for you.

This is the kind of thing I was on about - having visibility of who characters are utilised best in which areas and which to pick from. I know it's a bit basic but for example I'm happy to sit in the section of flanker because two of my preferred mains are in there, plus I'm happy to get better at Tracer and Reaper too.

I know what you mean and a lot of it does come down to individual skill which comes from experience, but what I'm trying to say is that it's hard to measure what or whom is letting the team down if you have nothing to measure it against - for example defined tactics, etc. Also every match is probably different because the lack of definition in how we approach matches - so is it a case that we're changing characters during play when actually we should be looking at our approach instead?

I also found that a few people seemed to have an opinion on which mains I should be using for that specific round without necessarily knowing what I'd be better at, and that list seems to change every time I play with you all on comp, depending on the scenario (usually being that we're losing quite badly). So, either we define a team structure and we decide what kind of mains people need to specialise in, or people shut up and get on with it when we're losing, rather than asking people to change to a different main? Bitching over

Maybe the way forward with this is actually defining how the team structure should be to work to our best advantage, rather than everyone telling us who their best mains are? It seemed the other night that notwithstanding I'd said who my best mains are, they weren't necessarily what the team needed.. Can someone give an outlay of the requirements in terms of which type of characters need to be in a team, and then we can at least all work to satisfy those requirements with the mains we develop further.

Sure the OW champ (Stretch is it?) can book a few more sessions where we work on these things as a team. Getting regular play with people you're used to playing with is key as well. Also I need a new headset. Not prepared to spend £50+ though when I already have very good headphones.

Sure, but I think it's circumstantial. When I talk of someone actively managing the team, I'm only on about pre-booked comp play. I don't want to detract from the fun of this game, and I do agree people need to be able to go and do their own thing. However, in the circumstances where we want to see if we can push ourselves as a team, during times we've booked specifically to do so, then much more tighter controls and tactics must be enforced. All other times, by all means, it's shits and gigs.

Agreed we need captains and those people have to own a large amount of knowledge of the game. They need to co-ordinate the attacks and people need to listen.

You know, the thing about this game isn't knowing so much what your own character is good at or needs support in, but actually knowing the details of every single character. Only then can you properly support your whole team both in what you're doing to survive, and also what you're doing to ensure that you use your own character powers to provide the service your teammates need to fully utilise their own abilities and quirks. That's a lot of reading. A lot of fucking reading.

Yeah Winston is my go-to, but I'd like to still get good at Genji. This is really what I'm aiming for when I jump - just to generally cause chaos without dying. My problem is at the moment with Winston is I'm not getting back out quick enough to stay alive.
