  1. Don't feel bad Doc I have no idea what the kids now a days are talking about either. Come to find out per my Niece over the labor day weekend with her...I am not cool because I thought "snakebites" were something to avoid (turns out its pierced lip) ...wearing no shoelaces is now cool (how I have no idea) and the fact that I think kids are crazy paying big bucks for a crappy thin china made t shirt just because it says Holister on it was my major faux pa I made this weekend lol
  2. Few various pics from the Au Sable over the long weekend. Next trip in less than 2 weeks is a bit different than the normal for me. Rather than staying at my cabin and fishing Mio, we'll be fishing out of Gates Lodge and fishing for two days in Grayling. Been a number of years since I fished/explored the upper river in Grayling, but looking forward to trading in the "trophy waters" for some of the more classic water of Grayling on this upcoming trip.
  3. Good to hear things are going well. Hope the year stays enjoyable for you there!
  4. No keyboard, just an Atari 2600 joystick
  5. Best way to start is to start with a tree that will do well indoors under a grow light. You don't want to start with an evergreen of any sort because they need a dormant period in the winter and are a bit harder to keep alive when you first get into it. Believe it or not the best one to start with is to go to Walmart and in the garden section they carry two types of bonsai trees at most all Walmart stores. One is a ginseng ficus (not a fan of those) and the other is a Fukien Tea tree. Get the Fukien Tea tree. It is very hardy and will do very well inside, plus it only costs $10.88. Here's the thing though. Walmart sells them in plastic pots with potting soil and little pebbles glued all over the top of the soil. If you leave it in that it wont last more than a month or two at best. Bonsai trees need a VERY quick draining soil that is made up of quick drying properties such as a mix of crushed lava rock, sand and even kitty litter. Also the plastic pot is not good for them, they need an actual bonsai pot that is shallow, has drainage holes in it, plus has holes for wiring the tree into the pot. My suggestion for getting started is before you buy the tree, get a bonsai pot and some bonsai soil. After that then I can help you with what you need to do next such as raking the roots out and trimming and repoting and pruming/wiring etc etc. This is a good bonsai pot right here for a good price. It has a lot going on for it such as being unglazed, has two drainage holes as well as multiple wiring holes http://www.ebay.com/itm/Oval-Yixing-Zisha-Bonsai-Pot-11-x8-5-x2-/141038592206?pt=Planters_Pots&hash=item20d68e20ce

  9. I've only ever taken Creatine and back in the 80's Joe Weiders Protein powder. Is there a reason you take all those you take? Just wondering because I'ver been thining about starting back on a plan of some myself but wanted to see what was the "good" stuff to actually take now a days.
  10. Great stuff bud. Let me ask ya, you take all the suppliments you listed?
  11. Off topic...Love the new avatar dude! Great movie.
  12. Man I need to get a new keyboard, the letters are wearing off on this one from being so old and it's typo city in my posts lately lol. When you get a chance to post some stuff shoot me some info on what chest workouts you do because that's where I want to focus on in my program when I get it started.
  13. True words there, I found that out as well. When I start walking/jogging after about a week or doing it I find myself doing it sometimes 2-3 times per day. Yet if I slack off and doing do it for a week then it takes me at least 2 weeks to get back into the swing of it. Yea it was about 150lbs I lost when I had that thread going. Started out about 400lbs and over the course of 7 months dropped down to 248lbs. But with all the walking and exercise I put about 10 lbs back on which I think it more or less muscle in my legs from all the leg work outs I was doing. So right now I'm about 258lbs (6'6"). I would like to drop another 25lbs and then work on my upper body more to gain a few more lbs of muscle in the chest and shoulders.
  14. Lookin good bud. Need to get some sun on that lilly white chest though lol I won't comment too much though about how ya look for fear of Tommy taking it to the "out of context" thread and making it look like some sort of man love thing LMFAO I've been doing good the past year as well. Still been able to keep the 150lbs I lost off and even allow myself a few treats here and there. Just have to get back into working out though. I'm thinking about putting a bench press back behind the wall in the basement shop so I can work out a bit between rod work in the shop maybe.
  15. I love that movie. Have it on DVD and watch it a couple times each year. Best comedy duel ever IMO. "You mean I'm not white?! this is a scandal! Why didn't you tell me this before?!!" LOL Love old school Pryor
  16. See Tommy I told ya it was a common mistake lol It's an enjoyable thing to do is all. It takes years to ever master it and then to actually get a healthy thriving bonsai tree it takes years of patience and dedication to keeping the tree alive, trimmed and growing properly so it's almost a form of living art.
  17. Don't feel bad, you'd be surprised how many people I talk too that actually think it's a species of tree. Pretty common thing actually.
  18. Starting this one back up. Whats the last movie you watched? Me...today I worked in the shop all day so I watched two movies... "Caddyshack" & "Gran Torino".
  19. Bonsai translated means "tree in pot". It's a style of growing a tree by manipulating it's growth so it stays small, not a species of tree.
  20. Since we lost the old posts thought I'd start a new on on my Bonsai. And now is as good a time as any because I just finished another new one today. This one is a spruce that I collected from my property up north by my cabin. Just finished trimming/pruning/potting and starting to train this one. It's very young right now but it has a really nice trunk on it that should be really sweet looking in about 10 years.
  21. too be able to...
