  1. Hey Doc, Thought of you when I saw this. Not sure if you saw it or not but on the latest new episode of Stan Lee's superhumans the other day they had Jerry Miculek. He put six rounds into three targets (2 rounds per target) in .8 of a second from the holster draw. It was pretty incredible to see.
  2. Just watched Kick Ass and Kick Ass 2 today. The first one was pretty decent in a weird dark comedy sort of way. The second one I thought was a bit lame.
  3. I love almost all Denzel's movies, he's just an awesome actor, this latest one looks like it will be yet another good one from him.
  4. One of my fav characters in any movie was "Blaine" (Jesse the body) in Predator. Blaine was just too cool and my idol, so, it was too funny when my buddy Mark whom I'm going fishing with this coming week stopped over tonight and after seeing my new hat told me I looked like Blaine from Predator. I took it as a compliment lol.... Blaine... And my new hat (with the Blaine lip) lol... LOL
  5. I was absolutely shocked when I heard this earlier. Celebrity deaths don't usually phase me much. Not that I am an uncaring person, but rather because I don't care to follow celebrities and the life they lead does not appeal much to me. There have been a few celebrities deaths that have bothered me over the years though, mainly John Ritter, John Denver, Steve Irwin (Croc Hunter) and now Robin Williams. I really liked Robin a lot. Losing him is like a part of my childhood dying because I grew up watching Mork & Mindy and Happy Days, then all his movies. The memories of watching "Mork" while sitting at the table eating a grilled cheese for lunch and drinking a red pop while doing it seem like just yesterday. Extremely sad, but as shocking as it is, it really should not come as a complete shock. He had recently went back to treatment for alcohol abuse and depression and I know all too well how the throws of that addiction can utterly destroy your mind & spirit. I just wish someone close to him would have seen how bad it must have truly been before it came to this. That's one thing us alcoholics are good at though, hiding things and not telling anyone how bad things really are. Odd thing is I actually just watched "RV" for about the 6th time yesterday and was thinking while I was watching it how there are just some comedians that will probably never be matched, and he was one of them. Great loss, thanks for all laughs Robin and Godspeed, you'll be truly missed
  6. Just finished up this DIY filter for the 130g koi pond I just put in last week. Quick run down of what parts I used are as follows... 2.5g bucket with tight fitting lid 730gph submersible pump Hose Matrix pond media Filter floss Light diffuser section Basically it works as a bottom draw canister filter where the pump draws in water through all the holes drilled into the bottom of the bucket. It then flows upwards through the matrix pond media and then the second stage is the filter floss for water clarity.
  7. I saw this last week. All I have to say is ......WOW. I am not easily impressed, but OMG what a good movie, I was very impressed. MUCH better than the first one IMO. Great flick, I'd for sure go see it again. Very well written and acted.
  8. Yep Koi are actually remarkably cold resistant. They just need over 2ft depth (this pond is 30" deep) and a hole to offgas the natural gases which I will do with a small heater to keep a hole ice free.
  9. Started working on a new larger Koi pond yesterday. Got it dug yesterday and now starting to take shape now after another full days work. Lots done today with rock work and plantings around the pond. All that is left is to build my own filter which will run off a 730gph pump, add another bag of rock around it, paint the waterfall gray for a more natural look, then seed it with media and add some koi.
  10. Sorry for the delay, been swamped since getting back and really not using the computer near as much as I use too these days. Kind'a got use to not wasting time online while on vacation and spending more time doing other things. Here's the rest of the pics from the trip though. Hope you guys enjoy.
  11. Tons of pics to share....enjoy the start
  12. That's awesome bud, I'm glad to hear it. Just keep a goal in mind and keep working towards it. Do you have a specific weight you want to get too?
  13. Just got back from 2 weeks fishing vacation yesterday. I figured I would gain a few lbs on vacation but with all the pre trip working out, biking and hiking on the trip and all I actually lost about another 5lbs while on vacation. I'm now down to 248lbs so that's 152lbs total weight loss now. Lightest I have been in close to twenty years now. Above pic is from Saturday, last day of the trip. I'll post tons more in a new topic as I get them resized.
  14. Not long now, probably leave early afternoon tomorrow so won't be on the site much now after this afternoon. Should have a bunch of pics and videos to share when I get back. Take care guys, someone remember to feed and walk Dave while I'm gone so he doesn't mess on the floor
  15. Today's weigh in is 252lbs. So 147lbs total lost now. Been feeling real good lately and getting closer and closer to my goal of about 220 which for my 6'5"-6'6" height I feel is about ideal for me. More than likely I will probably gain a few lbs while on vacation for the next 2 weeks, but long as I don't splurge too much I should be fine and back on track to my goal when I get back home.
  16. I don't even know what to say to that garbage. I know by this stage nothing people say should surprise me, but sometimes the sheer lack of intelligence of some people just amazes me.
  17. Boat is all ready for 2 weeks on the Au Sable. Been working on it a lot the past week. Washed/waxed/lower unit lubed/bearings packed, added spare ignition battery, modified the rear casting deck fixed a wiring issue as well as other things. Ready to go chase some trophy sized smallmouth and pike now.
  18. Bought a cheap used Mountain bike today off CL and outfitted it with about $80 worth of add on's to use as a means to ride to spots along the river at times when I don't take the boat out. Then once back home after the trip it'll serve as another means to some good exercise.
