  1. Doc, Chad and I saw this on facebook. We thought it was pretty interesting, but we're also really curious what you think of it? Does it seem like something that would actually be useful and make a difference? Or more just a really nice idea?
  2. Congrats to her and your family!
  3. Heard a clip of the new song this morning. I... just... *sad face*
  4. Thanks for sharing this. They are brilliant and frightening, but really show the resilience of humanity. The house in pictures 9 and 13 is the Canadian D-Day Memorial House. The family that's owned it has had it since before WWII. After D-day it was only of the only buildings still standing. Seeing pictures at the Juno Beach Centre (which is right next to it), it's astounding that it was still standing.
  5. Is there really any difference between Vegemite and Marmite? If I like one will I like the other?
  6. All I want to know is if I get to a wolf as a companion or if I get to ride one instead of a sparrow.
  7. Was up at my parents' over the weekend because of wedding shower crap (yuck). Ended up watching a few with Mum. American Ultra - Kristin Stewart was actually not as terrible as I expected her to be, but her hair is still always greasy looking Tangled - because DISNEY The first 15-20 minutes of Hail, Cesar - just... no Kill the Messenger - was alright, but did space out a bit and don't remember half of it Been a while since I've actually sat and watched a few movies. Still trying to catch up on some TV shows.
  8. I always just assumed it was some alternate version of Sweet Tooth.
  9. Smart kid to recognize that he isn't ready for something like that. Hopefully he has a good couple days so he can get that out of his head. What about Kingdoms of Amalur: Recokoning or Fable? They have a more cartoony art style and are more-or-less open world (not as much as Skyrim). Though, Fable would require a 360. Also, you can rub tummies with people in that one, but you don't actually see anything other than a blank screen. This made me laugh. Hope his face is alright.
  10. A friend linked this to me a couple days ago. It's pretty interesting. I remember reading a thread in r/books last year related to this in regards to what people "picture" when they are reading. https://www.facebook.com/notes/blake-ross/aphantasia-how-it-feels-to-be-blind-in-your-mind/10156834777480504
  11. I've capped, but haven't finished all the missions yet, nor have I bought the season's pass (yet), but I'll keep playing. Story is a big deal to me in a game and I enjoy the story here. I enjoy all the clips and eavesdropping on people in the buildings. I find this a far scarier game than any jump scare type game simply because it's probably very realistic of what would happen in a RL situation like this. I just wish I had a crouch and jump option. And the cover system pisses me off sometimes. However, there's nothing quite as satisfying as shooting a Cleaner in tank and watching him explode.I may have issues...
  12. Chad was looking at this last week. I tend to get our mods through the steamworkshop, but I want to get nexus mods now because of this.
  13. Excuse while I go change my underroos.
  14. A friend lent me a copy of an animated Dr. Strange movie a couple years ago and I loved it, so I was excited for this trailer. Now I'm meh. I'll probably see it mostly because Rachal McAdams is adorable.
  15. As in Cookies and Cream flavoured ice cream? Damn right! GET IN MA BELLY! Then make me regret that decision in half an hour.
  16. Cookies and cream Oreos. Oreo flavoured Oreos? Why? Zero sense.
  17. I... I don't understand... are they having some sort of muscle spasm? Is it Tourette's?
  18. If it's a sport Chad will watch it. He had MLB subscription thing last year, and being that I was sitting beside him knitting most of the time I started paying attention. Low and behold, I enjoyed it! He got me interested in baseball, I got him interested in roller derby. It's a good time.
  19. I settled on Below Stairs by Margaret Powell for my next book and started on Saturday. It's a non-fiction, sort of autobiography, of a woman who worked in the kitchens in houses starting in the 1920's at the age of 15. If you've seen and enjoyed Gosford Park (and apparently Downton Abbey) then it's a bit like that. It's especially interesting to me because my great-grandmother used to write for the Acton Freepress up here. Basically her articles are the early 20th century version of a blog. She wrote it for something like thirty or forty years, including in the 20's, so it's really interesting to see the lifestyle differences between a English kitchen girl and a Canadian farm wife.
  20. We have threads for movies and music, what about this medium as well? So, what cha reading lately? I've been reading The Shadow Over Innsmouth by H.P. Lovecraft. I've been enjoying everything I'm reading of his, but it's a bit strange for me to be reading and seeing the words on the almost as often as I'm visualizing what's going on. Normally I'm basically watching a movie in my head. I'm blaming it on how long ago it was written. When I'm done that I'm either going to start The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins (book for fitness group bookclub), Below Stairs by Margaret Powell, or Tangled Webs by Elaine Cunningham. I haven't planned that far ahead. New Saga came out this week as well as Darth Vader. We're picking those up after work, so I'll be devouring them as well.
  21. Jerry Espenson from Boston Legal is another TV character with Asperger's.

  23. Ugh. I was recently trying to read Tom Clancy's Red Rabbit (#3 chronologically in the Jack Ryan series, but written in 2002) but had to stop for this reason. Too many damn Russian (and American) last names that all blurred into one. Normally I keep a list notes when I'm reading a book with a billion characters (i.e. anything by Mario Puzo) but that didn't even help. *book flip* I'm out.
