I watched a few videos last night and I can see how it would be fun, but I just don't think it's my thing.  I may hang onto it and see what becomes of it since it's still early access.  I heard the developers had 3-5 players in mind when creating it, so I doubt I'll really get into it much.  I haven't really been a social gamer in quite some time, probably since CoD / Destiny 1 days.  I'm around people all day at work and then at home with my family.  As an introvert, games are my time to have some me time.

Graphically wise I was worried because I'm not the ultimate fan of Minecraft, but I appreciate what you can make in it. Valheim takes a Minecraft element with the graphics to a degree but they've enhanced them so if you look from the ground to the sky its a blend of all types. Something to enjoy and not really in any other game. Also, Rich @tronic44 made a very valid point the other day as for us its not much about graphics, but how animations work. Take a cutting a tree down. When you cut it down, if it falls into other trees the mechanics mean that it can knock other trees down too, in line with how you would think it would be in real life.
 
Building stuff is just so quick. No waiting, just get the stuff and build it with the Hammer. The snapping, once you understand it, is one of the best i've seen in a game that compensates for the uneven ground and other elements around you.
 
You don't play these games do you Tommy? DayZ is a survival but a way harsher scale and in fairness is about you surviving than surviving to create your own village/world. This is a chill game too so some people may want something more intense (although it does have its moments!).
 
I think the game goes into another dimension because we have our very own server so we're all working together to do stuff and explore but genuinely mate, if you ain't gonna get your money's worth, no harm in getting a refund whilst you can.

The first one got me through a tough time and I've just been in love with the stories and the characters ever since

Just a quick note to the community regarding server behaviours.
 
1. Boss fights only take place via community calendar events.
2. Password is not to be shared beyond FG.
3. Don't be an asshat, at least to other FGers 
 
The server can't be rolled back or saved at present, so any fucking with these rules equals a permanent ban.😇

There’s a Personal Progress Report section where you can document your progression on games etc, might be something you’d be interested in.
 
There’s a lot of us loving Valheim at the moment, so will no doubt bump into you on that.

In case anyone hops onto the FG server for Valheim... Below is my map so far. @TurboR56Mini  and I have scouted a majority of the first coast. He has build up the Black Forest Base (after we killed the troll hanging out there) and Outpost #2. Outpost #1 is still bare. Outpost #3 may be in the north area on the coast between the northwest dungeon and Base HQ. Depends on what we do tomorrow. I'll post new maps as I explore more.
 
Things to note:
We have left various basic armor, weapons, and an assortment of other items at HQ (and a few things at the outposts). All items that have been discovered are at HQ. There is another Troll near the northwest dungeon. Bring a team... with tons of fire arrows. This is how @TurboR56Mini  and I killed the troll at the Black Forest Base. (You're welcome. It's now less terrifying to wander into the Black Forest) Black Forest Base is decently equipped. We still need to upgrade the workbench to level 3. Outposts #1 and #2 only have level 1 workbenches.

Weelll Shiiiiiiit!  I guess I've got to get it now haven't I.

This game is brilliant, wish i had more chance to get on it.

I built my first raft yesterday to explore this island across the water and I immediately got it wedged between two rocks on the shore before I even managed to set sail😎

I must say the first play yesterday was really good fun with @phil bottle and @tronic44. It has much more of a chilled survival game vibe than other ones. Graphics are strangely pleasing - mainly because some parts have a slight Minecraft feel (don't be put off MC haters!) but in others there's some truly amazing views. Just looking up at the sky is incredible.
 
Building wise, the snapping takes a little time to get used to but as soon as you work out the Hammer is used to craft and build stuff you can make things so quickly.
 
The combat feels fairly simplistic but I think it could become a little deeper as you go further into the game. I don't think its the game's main focus if i'm honest so i'm not too bothered about it.
 
The map looks huge!! Lots to explore and discover. Theres also random Rune Stones stuck in the ground to read that gives you extra hints and tips along the way. Nice little touch.
 
What else? It has exploration via the Seas! We didn't try it yet but the thought of building our own boat and exploring the map is definitely something I can't wait for!
 
All in all, a great initial start and definitely has legs in it for 15 squids. Lets hope more things to craft as we get into it more. Some streamers are also raving about this a lot too over recent days.

It's a lovely game and I'm looking forward to playing more. Particularly getting in a ship and going to do what Vikings do😁
