  2. Tuesday morning my Niece was very upset, "timmy" the red ear slider turtle I bought her back in Feb died. My sister said they found him upside down with all his legs and head limp and hanging out of his shell. My niece obviously was very upset. My sister picked him up and he was completely lifeless, she said she poked his little leg and nothing, he was limp. So she put him in a box and sat him outside behind the house. My Niece went to school and then when her dad got him they were going to burry Timmy in the back yard next to the little Koi pond. My Niece wanted to see him one last time so they opened the lid of the box before they burried him.......Timmy was standing up on all four legs staring at them Needless to say my Niece started crying again, this time tears of joy My sister swears he was dead, she said she shoke him and poked him and no response from him. His head/tail and all four legs were hanging limp. I looked online and actually found where this happened to someone else a few years ago. I guess when he flipped upside down he basically drowned, but because a turtles respritory system is so slow that they are not actually "dead" for some time after drowing. So sounds like when my sister took him out and sat him right side up in the box in the backyard, the water in his lungs must have drained out and he came too. They went and got him a turtle dock to replace the rock that was in his tank plus filled the water higher so that he can right himself if he ever flips upside down again. He's been doing fine now for the past 2 days since this happened. He's a tough little SOB

  3. Y'know what? I'm just wrapping up my night shift so I'm tired and emo, but I can't help but think how awesome it is that we've come this far. This is truly amazing. Had you asked me three years ago if I could ever see this happen, I would've laughed and shrugged it off, and yet here we are today, people travelling hundreds, if not thousands of miles by planes, trains and automobiles to meet up for a good time. Strangers, from the internet. People that have never met before. Think abotu that for a moment. I hate tooting my own horn, but Clive, you can suck my balls. This wasn't all me, but I like to think that I played a fairly large role by saving this awesome community to begin with. This was all Dave's idea and a cracking one at that, so Dave, thanks for this. Thanks to those of you who have paid / helped pay for tickets for others, and thanks to those of you who are coming down, this is going to be an epic weekend and one I have looked forward to for a very long time. I wish you all a safe journey, drive safely, wear your seatbelts, and don't do anything stupid. See you all tonight.

  4. Well maybe an argument can be made for The Walking Dead being fresh. O Jesus Christ I just readt Zombieland was/is a TV show. Ummmm... I'd also consider Breaking Bad; it's not a great show, it has its moments, but the idea of a teacher cooking meth to make money for his cancer treatments and to ensure his family a comfortable future if he dies is pretty fresh and keeps me watching. There are a few others but nothing really forcing you to think. I agree almost everything has been done or re-invented but within the moral and ethical TV world boundaries. And the argument can be made that all the foundations of story telling from then until now can be traced back to folktales. Meaning everything has already been done/copied/retold. EG: Hero's journey, motifs, magic objects, helpers, foils, forbidden love... on and on. If you have some time to kill check out Guillermo del Toro interviews from Pan's Labyrinth. They're on the DVD I can't find them online easily. He explains what I'm typing about; he's big into folktales. Perhaps. I blame it on middle America. Everything is geared down to suit their Bible belt brain capacity. Anything with a monster is demonic anything with side boob or a dudes ass is porn.

It's nice to see not only the fish and the passion you put into them, but also that you're meeting what I can only assume to be very nice people. Very nice uncle Steve, very nice.

  14. Thanks for the offer. I'll just try to let people know when I am on. I'm so Intermittent it's not even funny. I don't hate it no. I wouldn't say I love it either. What I do like about it is that it works well for intermittent schedules. Jump on, play for 30-40 minutes and jump off again. Can even do that during the day between conference calls and meetings. I typically end up working from 7:30 am to about 8:30 pm with a lot of "dead" time in between because of the various time zones so having some entertainment during the day helps. I'm in the eastern time zone. Jungling if you start off well is pretty dam effective. Kill the first buff and level already, kill the next (usually wolves), regen some health, go mid and help a bit there and up 3 levels. Go wraiths, Gollems and next buff. Go bot help some there and often a champ is there to assist or kill. Recall and get better gear (about level 6 at that point). I got to try a few other champs to do it. Xin Zhao seems pretty dam good at it also.
