The original is an all time classic, and old as hell.

 

I'm going to watch Cohh's preview videos on it and hope to myself they have made a great sequel.

 

It's had a lengthy and complicated development though, which often leads to disappointment, so we'll see...

 

Due out end 21 October I believe.

Great to see they have a release date finally. This game was cancelled and then rebuilt from scratch and all this must have happened before the pandemic because it feels an age. Not expecting much but anything half decent will do.

The game itself looks fucking class, so these stupid pricing practices may well be a case of shooting themselves in the foot. As much as I now want to play it, I'll be awaiting a sale before I buy it 🙃  Congrats to the bellend marketing pricks 👏

It does look good albeit I have kept my expectations in check just because of everything that has gone on with it, between that and Battlefield maybe I am just getting old 😄

From the 2 hours I've seen of the game its clearly very different from the original, but still, it looks well done and a game I'd like to play.

 

But yeah, will have to wait a while to see what happens with ridiculous day one dlc...

The developers here are more known for their walking simulators so hopefully they'll be able to deliver on RPG mechanics. Having just played their Still Wakes The Deep game, they certainly know how to build a world and tell a story but I hope the core gameplay has some substance. 

 

Not sure why the original game wasn't simply remastered from the ground up though as there would've been many takers for that and the development wouldn't have been half as borked.

Some good news on this game came out yesterday and they've confirmed that all clans will now be available in the base game at launch. I'm very happy about this.

It launches on 21st October and may well be a (rare these days) day one purchase for me.

If you do please keep me updated, I want to buy it but have Fifa and Battlefield as purchases soon so I can probably afford another biggish game at a push so will take a bit longer seeing what reviews are like on things before picking one (or maybe pick up a new retro title).

I've watched several reviews now and sadly this has gone from a day one purchase to maybe when deeply discounted in a sale, which is a shame. Seems its more an action adventure than a RPG. What a pity. At least my modded standalone version of the original is still playable. 

Modern RPG-wise I may finally pick up Dragons Dogma 2 but will see.

Yep, totally agree. I have read that the previous team working on it had been making it more like the original but when the Chinese Room devs took it over they got rid of all that simply so they could put their own mark on it. What a shame.

I have watched a couple of videos and people are actually saying good things about it with particular praise on the combat I am still leaning towards picking it up as I want a sizeable RPG to play.

 

A lot of the issues are that it's nothing like the original, but in all fairness the original came out so long ago any sequal was going to be very different from the original.

Its not an RPG, its an action adventure game. There's a limited skill tree and opportunity to make decisions which all lead to the same place and have no effect on any outcomes in the story. If that's an RPG in your world I'm sure youll enjoy,  as the combat is supposed to be decent true enough.
