So, support from Microsoft for W10 will end in October and no further security updates. They're basically forcing everyone onto W11, at which point, once everyone has got it, they'll probably release W12 🙃

My mobo is from 2019 and won't support W11, so I'm pretty much screwed. I do need to upgrade my CPU and GPU too but it's all ridiculously expensive right now...

yeah the options you have kinda suck now, you either stay with windows 10 without security patches and all that entails, pay for the extended support or move to linux and if you are playing comp games with kernel level anticheat or need specific software like adobe, office, autodesk etc you are out of luck

Been using Windows 11 for over a year now and it's just so plain and boring, I don't think there's any feature that stands out. Only time anything pops into my head about it is when it's doing an updated on shutdown. Other than that, Microsoft may as well become the new Apple and release a new one every year for no reason.

What sort of features are you expecting for/ from an Operating System?

i7 7700k, 16GB RAM, GEFORCE 1080, 240GB SSHD, 2TB SSD

I think he was saying there's no noticeable difference or improvement upgrading from 10 to 11.

Anything to justify the upgrade other than a change of the default colour. If something is in rigorous development for 6 years, I expect to see results other than colour change and taskbar arrangement. Windows 7 was revolutionary in functionality and appearance, and Windows 10 provided a strong framework for app integration and virtual reality. I was expecting Windows 11 to lead the way in AI development and tooling but instead it's still focusing on needless features from 2009.
