I can understand them wanting to broaden their appeal outside of rich old white dudes but this new marketing campaign and car is unlikely to be the way

NEWS.SKY.COM

Jaguar's boss says 'we want to be bold and disruptive' as its new electric car, which is expected to cost more than £100,000 when the production version hits the market, was unveiled at an event in Miami.

This will probably be a Bud Light 2.0 moment but probably way more damaging.

For anyone that didn't see the original promo

I mean, where the fuck is the car? The logo is hideous too.

And this is the brains behind it all

If you gave me a million guesses, I'd never even think it was a car let alone Jaguar.

I guess guys your next purchase will be a Ferrari instead lol

I didn't know Jaguar had new cars, I do now, you've advertised them for free 🤪

I’m more of a Porsche man myself.

People that watched the advert didn’t know Jaguar had new cars either, you’re not the only one.

Well this was expected

Jaguar's European sales tanked to just 49 cars in April 2025 after a divisive rebrand and EV pivot. Can the iconic...

it’s amazing how normal people could see this happening but corporate marketing executives couldn’t😂

49 cars sold in one month globally has to be a record low!

Yes, definitely the woke advert.

Couldn’t possibly be they stopped building Jag’s 6 months ago so don’t have the product to sell.  But I guess that doesn’t fit the anti-woke agenda or make clickbait headlines.

That's funny because my local Jag dealership which I pass 10 times a week has a forecourt of about 70 of them and they ain't shifting. There is nothing clickbait about it - their sales have dried up and that's from their own press release. Just because their lines may be stalled doesn't mean there aren't tens of thousands of cars dotted around for sale.

I’m not saying sales haven’t stopped.  I’m saying it’s clickbait as the headline is Jag sales decline after woke ad then article goes on to explain the decline is a trend long before the ‘woke’ advert, dealers not having stock to sell and no new models to drive interest (though there are other factors too).

If ‘clickbait’ offends, how about sensationalist then? Why is it a surprise that a company saying we’re going to stop selling these products then has poor sales of said product?  Where’s a shocked pikachu when you need one.

There’s something funny about your anecdotal evidence for the numbers of cars when I know precisely how many they are.

These types of articles are designed to stoke or play up to people's fears or prejudice and I suppose some amongst us are more easily manipulated than others 🤪

There is plenty of stock to sell - it's just not selling and to shift the blame on shipping and production is nothing more than a corporate cope. You can get a brand new pre-brand Jag cheaper than ever now but they aren't selling and people can bury their heads in the sand about the rebrand being not to blame, but that is clearly an aggravating factor. Jaguar was alienating its customers and brand identity long before the advert was published anyway, when a full compliment of stock was being manufactured and shipped, so it's clear this is a long-term problem and the rebranding is a culmination of everything in the last 18 months.

At my dealership, you can get as 74 plate XFR for £24,995 brand new and it's not selling. Two years ago, the same vehicle was £36,000 and people would bite your hand off at that price. So despite a surplus of stock and a 25% markdown, there doesn't seem to be much demand and this is up and down the country. I very much doubt we'll see a 10,000% influx when the new range is available and I doubt that's what customers are waiting for.

Corporate cope 🤣 a few more phrases like that and I'll have a full house on by bullshit buzzword bingo.

From the article you posted: "The absence of new models, with most petrol and diesel cars phased out, has left showrooms barren, amplifying the damage." Or "With global sales down 46% from 61,661 in 2022 to 33,320 in 2024".  Almost like the article is pointing out the decline started happening long before the advert and the lack of cars is also a factor.

So either

- You only read the headline before posting.  In which case lol.

- You're now actually arguing against the article you posted.  In which case lol.

- Or you're trolling.  In which case lol.

But assuming one of the first two.  As much as you go on about plenty of stock to sell (when there isn't), most of the stock is the less desirable cars/configurations/specs - yes there's significant discount on them but in reality, no, no-one was biting hands off for an XFR, because even in its time not many people wanted a supercharged 5.0L V8 car.  Mentioning in it's time, leads on to the next factor, none of the Jaguar line up had a refresh recently so the cars they're trying to sell are 'old' - sticking to the XF as an example, that got refreshed in 2020 so even buying new today, in design/infotainment/technology it's a 5 year old car.  Also throw in that no money is being spent on marketing Jaguar - before the re-brand all the adverts got pulled and there hasn't been any since but, for example, you still see Land Rover / Range Rover adverts.  You also have to consider that JLR have been paid for the cars you're seeing - normally not selling the cars would lead to overstocking problems, which normally isn't good, but since none are being built, there's no risk of that.  So if it's slow selling the small amounts of remaining stock then that's for the dealers to worry about.

I'm not saying the re-brand and advert haven't played a part - it's hard to quantify but they may have.  But to lay it all at the feet of advert/re-brand is comical when there's plenty of other factors too.  Though I'm sure you'll just dismiss this as cope again or some other BS.

The initial decline in the last few years originally stemmed from the knock-on effect from Covid. I'm not saying the advert is responsible solely for a 97% reduction in sales, but this rebrand has been in the works for some time and the figures are comparably shocking compared to other manufactures operating in the same climate and legislation. There is a huge quantity of new stock unsold at probably at 30% less than the typical entry rate and the rebrand is likely a huge factor in people not going out in droves and securing what is left before the new roll out. People are not solely queuing for their electric cars when the rest of the market is flowing with your typical diesel/petrol standard. My local VW sells between 9 and 10 new petrol cars a day still, yet Jaguar can't crack 50 up and down the country in a month, despite having an overflow of stock. My local dealer is like a car park. The cars are all for sale, about 40 of them are 24-25 plates and models that were £40,000 and going for under £30k comfortably. There's no firesale, there's no limitations, they just can't shift them.

All these new cars coming out are practically outdated by design anyway, but when your flagship model is going for the same price in the luxury market as a Seat Leon and £3k less than a Polo, then questions have to be asked of how they got to this state. My guess is that the alienation of its customers and values after the turmoil of Covid had, and then the published rebrand reveal, is a huge factor and I'm willing to bet that they will struggle out of the gate and will likely have to sell off part of the company. The most likely explanation is customers that were awaiting the new range have seen it and have shopped elsewhere before they even land and haven't looked back, not even taking an XFR for £12k less.

So if Jaguar re-launch and sell 20,000 new cars at £115,000 each then it will be a huge success but with the lack of interest in the last 5 years and new dead stock they can't even give away, I don't know where the market is.
