the people that think its serious are even funnier First of all, John Cheese you as a dad made an grievous mistake of letting your 11 year old son play GTA V even after knowing it has high level of violence, offensive language, sexual content, drug and alcohol abuse and other vices. When a game is rated 'M', its not for fun, but to let people know that anyone under 15 years of age is incapable of digesting these vices. Now your son getting frustrated at not being able to complete a mission, this action is completely natural and common among kids. This behavior has been seen when a child fails to balance the lego bricks or playing cards while making tower. It has nothing to do with GTA V's tough mission. Our brain tends to ignore the visuals and sounds that are repetitive. You hear a song for first time and you'll notice slightest change in beats, but after hearing the song for 10 to 15 times, brain ignores it. Similarly for visuals. Your son's brain started ignoring the on coming traffic after repeatedly playing it. Thus he was crashing it. Being a dad you should have distracted him with some outdoor game instead of scolding. Your son is not a thief neither is his action regarding the iced tea wrong. He is a child spare him the accusations. A child won't care about things he like when provided in abundance, he'll notice it when it is reduced. If your son didn't ask where the extra iced tea came from, its not some robbery, he just didn't care and drank it. Now calling him racist is again wrong. If you want your child to use right words while addressing a person, give him good books to read and not some offensive game. Improve your child's vocabulary so that instead of using racist terms. Anyways, you Americans have overhyped racism, I am Indian and western guys in our countries call us the brown guys, we don't take it as offense. We have accepted that we have brown skin, what's bad about it? You don't decide what skin tone you want in your mother's womb... Now back to the point, you could have asked your son to name the character instead of accusing him of racism. If still after knowing his name if your child calls him so called racist term, 'black' then you can accuse him of racism. Now the last point, I think you should teach your child that if anything or anybody scares you, instead of cowering you should fight against it. From what you have written, I stood on chair to make myself look tall, I am sure you must have been bullied heavily when in school. I don't think GTA V made him murder the spider. Maybe he himself got scared and acted spontaneously or better... he saw his dad in trouble and saved him? You know what John Cheese, if you think that games like GTA V are harming your kid, then keep him away from it. Don't blame the video games please, they don't say, 'Hey kid look, this how you hold knife and this is how you stab'. They are purely intended for entertainment for those people who can differentiate between reality and virtual world.
