Nature walk and alligator tour: The rest are taken on the grounds at the Discovery Museum Holding a live alligator was really cool. They are squishier than you'd think, like they aren't really muscular but their skin is hard. They didn't feel like I thought they would, and they are really strong when they try to twist out of your hands. Seeing them blink with the clear eyelid is cool up close, too. It was one of the highlights of the trip.

Everything's set. We're rolling out as soon as my wife is ready. First off, Holiday World for their Halloween light show. Afterwards, driving about 1/3 of the way and stopping in Tennessee for the night, then on to Hilton Head in the morning. I'm glad we went with South Carolina instead of Florida. Weather.com says SC is going to be beautiful this week, northern FL is going to get rain most days. WHEE!!!

Doing it routinely makes you a target. If you wouldn't staple a hand full of $100 bills on your belt out in the open, why would you hang something of similar value there? That's just asking to be robbed. Carrying openly allows you to be ambushed and eliminates your ability to ambush. You no longer get to decide when to act. You no longer have the element of surprise. Do you know that it takes about a second for someone to recognize a threat and then act upon that information? That's why I worked so damned hard to get my concealed draw under a second. I've got a 0.15 second advantage vs the average human even if they are staring right at me but don't know I'm a threat yet. That's an eternity in a gun fight. WTF would I give that up for open carry?

Everything is set up for the trip. We got a good deal on a vacation condo, weather.com says weather is going to be nice, and now the only thing is driving. I has excitedness.

It looks like South Carolina to the beach. Our offer on a vacation condo got accepted today, just have to call the owner tomorrow to finalize everything.

Fall break is fast approaching for my son. I took some time off and we're setting up the trip now. Epic photo journal to come. Or something.

I watched "Balloonman" today while I ate lunch. Not bad. I'm interested to see how the story progresses, but am not really hooked on any of the characters yet. The cliches of the cops are just a bit much for me. I don't know how to do spoiler text on this forum, so I'll refrain from further comment.
