  1. http://fox59.com/2014/07/05/impd-officer-shot-on-east-side-passes-away/#axzz36bsx4FFb Perry Renn. He worked the shift that split middles and lates when I worked that area on middles. We used to call him "Squidward" because of the way he talked. You'll be missed.
  2. I look. I just don't have much to say.
  3. Not really. I did it, but it was never a high priority in my life. It was something I had to do, learned I enjoyed a bit, and then moved on pretty quickly due to expense and other priorities taking precedent.
  4. People bitch about two things. When things change and when they stay the same. Video games are WAY THE FUCK BETTER than they were for the original NES, yet they cost pretty much the same. A premium NES title was $50-$59, basically what one runs now. How much content did you get in those "complete" games vs today's "incomplete" games? You can get a lot of those games for free now on your phone, and when I was a kid you'd have shit your pants for free access to Tetris and the like. If the market doesn't like the model, it'll die. Easy enough. For me, its like getting the game at a discount, though, and then if I enjoy it I can put more money in. If I don't, I can exit with only sunk costs and move on to something else. I bought all the DLC for Skyrim because it was awesome. I bought none of the DLC for The Last of Us, because I don't care enough to spend the cash. Neither game was unfinished, both were very enjoyable in their original state. I could just get more for the one I liked.
  5. Nope, like many of my personal possessions, they were lost to the ages when I went overseas. I enjoyed it, although I couldn't afford oils outside of class and didn't like acrylics much so I quit.
  6. I know. i did a little bit of painting in school for my required art classes. Stretched canvas is too expensive, but the canvas panels are "real" canvas and can easily be framed, should you choose to do so. Most folks won't know the difference to look at it.
  7. Yup, he got careless. Don't point guns that are mechanically capable of firing and something you don't intend to destroy. "Loaded" or "unloaded" is irrelevant, because its too easy to make a mix up. If it can mechanically fire its a lethal weapon and should be treated as such.

  9. Blah blah blah technical words. When do we get to see alien baby makers on canvas?
  10. Great deal on an AR-15 if anyone is looking to buy: Complete lower for $139: http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/ar-15-05/lowers/psa-ar-15-complete-lower-blackhawk-edition-no-magazine.html Complete bolt carrier group for $89: http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/5-56-hpt-mpi-m-16-bolt-carrier-group.html Charging handle for $25: http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/ar15-m16-charging-handle.html Complete upper with a rail for $309: http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/ar-15-05/barreled-upper-assemblies/psa-16-m4-premium-quad-rail-without-bcg-or-charging-handle.html -OR- Complete upper without rail for $249: http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/ar-15-05/barreled-upper-assemblies/m4-premium-16-cmv-chrome-lined-stripped-upper-without-bcg-or-charging-handle.html The only other thing you need is a rear sight. A Magul folding rear is about $55 on that sight. Fixed sights can be had even cheaper. With shipping, you'll still be out the door at under $600 for a good quality build AR. This is not a build gun where you have to put the springs and levers in yourself. The "assembly" is of complete components, just like you'd put the rifle back together after cleaning it. Yes, I ordered one. It's supposed to take a while to ship, so it may be a bit before any review.
  11. NOW do you see why I laughed manically while playing my little rolly polly boom machine?
  12. Yeah, I like the frags. Its a nice way to hit "reset" and escape if a bunch of mooks get too close.
  13. I did not think "mustache". Looks like a virus with a baby maker in need of a shave.
  14. Just as a heads up, I'm not going to update this daily now. I've gotten all the low hanging fruit, so to speak and my improvements are in the hundreths of a second now. Cold draw was at 1.43 yesterday, and today was my son's birthday so I was busy with him and then work so I didn't get my half hour in.
  15. Yeah, any of the weapons that spool up for a higher RoF or DPS are helped out tremendously by his resistance to stagger. The beam assault rifle works great, too, especially with a good ammo passive like inferno. I never saw the Hawk missiles do enough damage to be worth the lack of weapon passives, especially since they don't recognize when there is a wall between you and the opponent and will routinely smack into walls and ceilings, wasting the shot.

  17. Yup. I read Belgariad a long time ago, I think while I was still in the Army. I don't remember a lot of it, but they were good. I may revisit them at some point. I did the same thing with the Sword of Truth series as you did with WoT. I read the first two and then said I'd wait. I've never gotten back to them, either.
  18. At its most simple level, its a rebellion against a cruel and uncaring dictator in a fantasy world. The magic is based on metals. Allomancy is the the ability to ingest certain metals, "burn it" inside of you, and get a supernatural ability. Most people can't burn metal. Some can burn one metal and get one power. A very few can burn all the metals and are called "mistborn". Each metal does only one thing, and its alloy does the opposite. Iron will let you push a metal object for example, while steel will let you pull it. So, someone who burns steel could hunker down behind a wooden shield and draw all the enemy's arrows, and someone who burns iron could push them back at them, or "shoot" coins. Physics still applies, so if the object is heavier than you or can't move, you will either be pulled toward it or thrown. So, iron would let you "fly" up a wall if you pulled on a fixed piece of metal on the gutter. Steel would let you "fly" if you pushed off a coin on the ground, but only in straight lines. That's why mistborn are so powerful, they can combine the powers to do things. If you just pushed off a coin and landed hard, you'd hurt or kill yourself. Mistborns can burn pewter to make themselves tougher to counter act that. Someone who only burns pewter can make themselves tough and strong, but has no way to counteract gravity or intercept metal projectiles. The nobility have almost all of the allomantic power, but a few halfbreeds in the peasant population also has it, and they lead a rebellion. DON"T RESEARCH IT, JUST READ IT. ITS AWESOME.
  19. That's why I had so many characters. Mace/Shield Orc, stealthy assassin cat guy (forgot their name), magic caster, etc. etc. Its why Skyrim is so awesome. Its like a pack of games in one.
  20. I finished "Mistborn" in 3 days. I'm so glad I reread this book, its just so...satisfying. Its like no other piece of fiction I've read, its truly a masterpiece. I'll finish out the series, then its back to the economics books I downloaded.
  21. Dunno. Here's the article I lifted the photo from: http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/lifestyle/2014/06/cow-photographed-on-roof/
