  1. This book will help you understand why Sega failed, Service Games: The Rise and Fall of SEGA https://www.amazon.com/Service-Games-Rise-Fall-Enhanced/dp/1494288354 I used to have a copy, but can't find it. There is another book, Console Wars, that is also amazing, I have it and can send it to you, if you want
  2. It was the hardware side that tanked them. Specifically the Dreamcast. And you would be wrong, those are gaming companies that I used to absolutely love that went bankrupt because of bad decisions, and bad PR. Its sad you don't actually recognize the names, but that should also tell you something about them.
  3. Sega is a great example of a hardware company failing through hubris, but its a bad example of a gaming company that failed through hubris. Instead use THQ, Westwood, Broderbund, or Hudson. Regardless: Sega boasted without being able to back it up. They didn't nearly have the holdings that EA has now. Let alone the holdings that Nintendo had at the time. (Nintendo has been around since the 1880's. Not even kidding here, they are a fascinating company to read about. It would be like me walking into an MLG tournament and boasting I was the bestest FPS player EVA!!!!!!!!!!! Sure I play FPS games, sure I am decent at them, but I am laughable next to everyone else.
  4. Datto's thoughts on this: Just posted 20 minutes ago, figured I'd pass the link onto you guys for discussion. Here are my thoughts: Let's remember that Curse of Osiris was most likely already 85% done by the time Vanilla launched. Bungie didn't have much time to alter this DLC from Vanilla feedback and make long-term changes...even though that's what I feel like a lot of people were expecting. They can't pull entirely redesigned systems out of their ass in only a month. No, Curse of Osiris isn't going to fix the endgame. Or introduce a brand new engaging new loot system. No, Curse of Osiris was not meant to bring back a new weapon format, a dozen new mods, and strike specific loot. Those kinds of decisions are made when the DLC is first being developed, not 4 weeks before it is launched. They developed this DLC while building off Vanilla. Vanilla showers us in loot, so that's how this DLC was meant to be as well. Did it turn out that is what we needed? No. Is that what they had? Yes. I'll still take the feedback changes and QoL updates they were able to put together rather than sending the whole thing back to the drawing board. There's still The Dawning to look after for, and if it's anything like Destiny 1, we can expect a pinch of fresh content there too (and unlike Curse of Osiris, this content could be much better adjusted to feedback). --------------------- More thoughts: The issue in D2 isn't "lack of loot". Loot comes in at a pretty generous amount. The issues with loot are: gap between common, uncommon, rare, legendary and exotic gear is almost non existant - Leads to a sense of "non-progression" when you do acquire higher rarity gear loot quality is minute - armor is meaningless and weapons are too bland and unappealing in terms of performance weapon layout is illogical - this is felt a lot in PVE and leads to boring PVP to watch and experience there are no exotics that are trully worth chasing - and now that you'll even be able to get them faster, even if there was, you wouldn't need to chase it Armor and how it functions within the gameplay experience is very lacking Lack of unique loot items like lost sectors/strikes/patrols/mission exclusive weapons or armor pieces instead of weapon reskins over and over again If they bring back some exotics, then do us a favour and bring them all back and all legendaries and all the other stuff so that we have so much different stuff to chase and get that we have a reason to grind the game and collect it all
  5. Here is the other thing Most people think when they read a company lost XX amount of money that that money is actually gone Its not. No one went into EA's bank account and grabbed $3,000,000,000 from them This is an estimated valuation based on how much EA stock is out there, what the priced move to, and if EVERYONE that owns EA stock were to sell immediately. Maybe you guys know this already, most don't, most think about it in terms of themselves. If I were to say I lost $300 dollars, everyone would know that my bank account was short that amount of money. When talking stocks that is not the case. Stocks are bought for long term. Thats why its called an investment. The chances of EA even bothering with a Share holder call, or Board meeting over this is minimal. If the trend continues for a full quarter, then yes, people can start feeling better about themselves and jerking off over EA's "failure"
  6. They have been shamed so often in the past its not even funny. They don't care. They have been voted worst company of the year, 4 times at this point? More? Keep in mind, their stock is down $3.... thats it And its trading at $106 which is up from $12 where it was trading for the longest time. The vocal minority is all we are here EDIT: EA stock is trading at $105.72, Up $0.22 for the day LOLZ
  7. I don't care, Today is Wednesday
  8. The list was shit, and I refuse to suck Bungie cock to make them feel better about "fixing" what they should have never broken to begin with. Nothing in that list was inspiring. I don't care about heroic strikes, we all knew they were coming anyway. Masterclass Weapons? When we still have only 3 options for armor in the game? Fixed Exotics? Really? PVP and PVE are still merged as far as stats go. Ranked PVP? Bungie needs shit or get off the pot. Embrace MLG or Story based games. Don't fuck around and try to do both edit: This is probably going to be an un-popular opinion and I need to see it in action before I obviously make a final decision but the masterwork slot is probably the most disappointing thing on here for me personally. The weapons should be completely roll-able / modifiable or its just adding an extra node that everyone will have the same.
  9. That doesn't really make sense, you can leave the starting area in about 3 hours. Everything you griped about could have been remedied/ learned/ explained easily in that same amount of time. Did you skip the cut scenes? Maybe play with the volume muted? Not read anything on screen? To put it in terms of Witcher 3, you made it as far as the initial dream sequence in the game, Raced Ciri to the sparring area, turned off the game and then compared it to a totally different game. I'm not trying to change your mind or anything, I just don't want others to come along, read what you posted and miss out on a game that is honestly better than any other RPG I have played since Witcher 3.
  10. Pretty sure we played totally different games. Espicially with your reference to Shadow of War. You didnt' pay attention to the Lore of the Medjay either if you don't understand why the side missions are popping up. The game definitely explains it. To each their own
  11. From Reddit: https://np.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/7elin7/the_state_of_hawaii_announces_action_to_address/dq62w5m/ Chris Lee here - I'm the one in the suit. My staff just told me someone apparently found this youtube upload before we had a chance to finish putting it together, but I thought I'd leave it up and just post here to explain that this fight can be won if people step up. This fight is about protecting kids, protecting families, freedom from exploitation, and the future of entertainment in this country. People are more powerful than they think. While we are stepping up to act in Hawaii, we have also been in discussions with our counterparts in a number of other states who are also considering how to address this issue. Change is difficult at the federal level, but states can and are taking action. Even so, elected officials can't do it alone. They need your support and you can compel action wherever you live by calling and emailing your own state legislators and asking them to act. But don't stop there. Call your allies. Call your pastors and teachers and community leaders. Ask them to call your state legislators as well. Their voices are politically powerful. I believe this fight can be won because all the key bases of political support across the country are on the same side. The religious community, the medical community, the education community, consumer advocates, parents, even many business leaders and local chambers of commerce. This is a fight that unites everyone, even the most polarized conservatives and progressives. Doing something is a political win for Democrats and Republicans alike. And frankly, we don't need to change the laws in every state - we just need to change a few and it will be enough to draw the line and compel change. These kinds of lootboxes and microtransactions are explicitly designed to prey upon and exploit human psychology in the same way casino games are so designed. This is especially true for young adults who child psychologists and other experts explain are particularly vulnerable. These exploitive mechanisms and the deceptive marketing promoting them have no place in games being marketed to minors, and perhaps no place in games at all. Your future is whatever you make it, so make it a good one. You have the power to get involved and decide this and the choice is clear: stand up now, or let this be the new normal from this point forward.

  13. Yes, yes it does.

    Yes Via the FG App
  17. It plays better than Banished to be honest I really enjoyed that game, but I was always bothered by some of the mechanics, this one is simpler in some areas, but because of the attacks by dragons and raider, it changes it up and makes it more interesting
  18. Its a PC game, its one of the other Early Access games I have ever been excited for. Not trying to be weird, but the game genuinely puts a smile on my face whenever I play it. Its a $10 purchase on steam or gog

    Redwoods

I stumbled across some redwood saplings in a dungeon. I immediately replicated them, now I have three of them near my house. They are super rare finds, so if anyone wants some let me know and I will share. Each sapling is only 32 emc, you need a 7x7 square to get one to grow. Sometimes it can take a whole MC week which is like 2 hours, other times its a matter of minutes. Best results happen with a 9x9 square, and you will get saplings left over I will warn you, they lag the server on creation, and god help anyone that wants to chop one down. The server will most likely kick you as it updates those chunks. (This also happens in Single player sometimes, its the server doing it, not an over-zealous admin)
  20. Right! I forgot how much damage they do... its going to take forever to get the dig area workable
