Anon the Nine is prolific leaker of Destiny news months before it happens and apparently he hasn't gone anything wrong yet. Haven't read the link but I do know he's suggested that Europa is the new planet where we'll all go in D3 and that it has Open World PvPvE experiences.

 

Essentially, Patrols like you have today but instead of seeing randoms just in your instance, these could be Guardians of Light where you could be using Darkness Classes that could kill them along the way.

 

A really interesting way to take Destiny and can definitely see that happening if you follow the story and lore.
