Seems that Sony, Steam and Amazon are offering no questions asked refunds on No Man's Sky. It was either this or a worldwide lawsuit I'd imagine against Hello Games for false advertising in which everyone would be entitled to their money back anyway if the claim won and that looked a certainty with the mounting evidence against the dodgy developers. This move will keep the lawyers at bay and anyone that keeps their copy is seen as accepting the game at face value but either way; shocking but highly expected and embarrassing outcome that was just deserts for developers dishonest on a level you wouldn't even see from the likes of Ubisoft http://gamerant.com/no-mans-sky-refund-542/

Wow, they really fucked up badly didn't they. Did they think no one would notice?

Fair play to them giving refunds, they must be pretty pissed off themselves.

I've just applied for a refund.  This game is an absolute joke.

They are coming out with significant free DLC (called that out on another thread) and trying to move on. I feel it's another Division - Great concept, Poor execution.

Mind you, this is only from the outside, if the game significantly drops value I'll pick it up and try it out.

It's an indie title that is worth £12.  The shit they said it would do, and what it actually does are oceans apart.  I don't see the attraction of 18 billion planets.  If it's procedural generation, they only need to have as many as I can visit in a typical games lifespan.  I thought you would be able to meet people and find social spaces, form trade alliances and all sorts of other stuff that is almost a requirement of a space game.

I'm glad I dodged a bullet on this one. I though there was something fishy when I couldn't exactly find the plot and gameplay details 1 day before release. The fact they advertised one thing and gave another is utter bullshit and the only nod to that is the refund route.

Such a shame as it had such a good concept. I'd have much preferred to have seen the game delayed even further if it finally launched with all the details we wanted. Another waste of a "AAA" title.

However it might be a cool little game to pick up for a tenner or so a month or 2 down the line

They are trying to keep people on board with the 'promise' of 'significant' DLC but even some of this doesn't even come close to what was originally supposed to be in the game in the first place that they have still yet to acknowledge why such features were absent. The upcoming DLC is just a desperate attempt to save face to the few that's left on it and the ultimate kick in the teeth is that it would likely be paid DLC despite Murray originally saying that there would be none http://www.gamespot.com/articles/no-mans-sky-could-get-paid-dlc/1100-6442663/

So not only were users ripped off and stripped of key features; the new ones that could appear in DLC form just as filler might even have a price tag. All the 'free' updates so far have just been fixes but proper content which should've been in the base game will cost the user even more and they still likely wont get anything that was originally outlined up until July 2016.

These developers are complete and utter scum and Murray is a prized cock and people should be entitled to get a refund no matter what. If people want to retain the game then fair enough but if they want any meaningful content; it'll cost them even more than the outlandish £40/$60 they paid in the first place. The fact Murray is a proven liar on countless occasions really makes me hope that nobody pays these bastards any more cash and that they are brought to some form of justice.  Not even Ubisoft or EA have sunk this low and Hello Games have not only been naive but they've been deliberately deceptive on a ridiculous level.

Jeez all the years I've been into games I can't think of buyers ever getting a refund before, this game must have been REALLY bad. My Nephew and I talked about this game before it came out, now I'm glad I didn't get it.

The same thing happened with Pokemon GO, being that you simply did not get what was advertised. They didn't have a leg to stand on for a rebuttal.

Hi Chris,

Thank you for your email.

We have reviewed your refund request for your purchase of No Man’s Sky.

We are aware of comments online from some players expressing disappointment with the release features of No Man’s Sky. During the development process, the game changed and evolved based on thousands of hours of user testing and feedback on what worked and what didn’t to bring you the best gameplay experience and the most fun. Hello Games made choices during this development which they believed would provide the best experience for the players. No Man’s Sky was intended to be something unique, vast and inventive, and we feel Hello Games have delivered that. They are also working to ensure that No Man’s Sky will continue to evolve and benefit from new features over the coming months, and as such, we are not making any exceptions to our standard refund policy.

We are also aware, and regret, that some players have experienced glitches upon initial release. However, since then, Hello Games have been working hard to release a number of patches to address those glitches. If you continue to experience problems after downloading those patches, we’d recommend you report your experience to Hello Games via email at feedback@hellogames.co.uk so that they are aware. As there is a rolling program of patches (with the next patch expected the week commencing 5th September) we will also not be making exceptions to our standard refund policy on these grounds either.

As per that refund policy, any games, game add-ons, season passes, in-game consumables or PlayStation® Video titles that have started being downloaded or streamed are not eligible for a refund.

As you have already downloaded No Man’s Sky, we will not be issuing a refund for this purchase.

You can read our full PlayStation Store cancellation policy:

https://www.playstation.com/en-gb/get-help/help-library/store---transactions/payments---refunds/playstation-store-cancellation-policy/

If you have any other questions in the future, feel free to drop us a line.

Thanks

^ that is some serious bullshit. So they've basically referred to the policy now Hello Games are releasing patches!? They can't apply the policy retroactively or futuristically so that is a ludicrous move by Sony support. Bit strange that last week they were issuing refunds regardless of how many hours a user played let alone the the fact they downloaded it and now its a brick wall for people as these free updates are on the way. What a joke! That still doesn't account for all the missing features that were lied about and there's no word if these will be included later on in free updates or within the paid DLC that Hello Games weren't doing but now are...

I'd consider contacting Trading Standards or the ASA for some advice on this and they are probably already aware of this situation.

Worth a try I guess.  If they'd have said, "hey, we get you're disappointed, have a £5 voucher"  I'd have been cool with that.  But I can't even sell the fucking thing.  So guess I get to play it FOREVER.
