SEASON 3 IS FOCUSED ON IMPROVING THE HEALTH OF THE GAME, BUT WHAT DO WE ACTUALLY MEAN WHEN WE TALK ABOUT THE GAME’S “HEALTH PROGRAM”?

Having come a long way in the past months, when we sat down to conceptualize Season 3 we had one goal in mind: longevity.

Xavier Marquis, Creative Director of Rainbow Six Siege, used the metaphor of house shopping to illustrate the reasoning behind the game’s Health Program: “If you’re looking to buy a house, you check the pipes, the foundations, and everything else. That’s because you’re planning on committing to this place - to this game. As core gamers ourselves, the goal was and always will be to build a solid home for our Siege players, a place to come back to because you can rely on its precise gameplay, and well, because it grew on you—and with you".

Community feedback on the Forums, subreddit, and social media has been critical to designing the Game Health Program for Season 3. The health improvements include animation clipping, replay system, exploitable glitches, and anti-cheat. You read that right; we will soon be deploying the first integration of an additional anti-cheating system to our game: BattlEye.

This cheating countermeasure is at the heart our Health Program. BattlEye is a client-side anti-cheating system that prevents players from loading the game when detecting cheats. We’ll soon be in position to share the exact launch of the preliminary integration of BattlEye (Beta).

To heighten the well-being of your game experience, we also improved the Kill cam accuracy. We tweaked a few things to make the replay camera as accurate as possible from the perspective of the player.

Another major Game Health improvement for this season is the dynamic clipping for skinned objects. This reduces greatly the amount of body parts leaking through walls and shield.

These are just a few of the major improvements to the health of the game. With so many of you playing our game every day, we truly want that experience to be the best as possible and for the long term. Looking to the future beyond Season 3, Marquis wants to reiterate that “Siege is designed to last for years”.

RAINBOW SIX SIEGE – OPERATION SKULL RAIN RECRUITS BRAZIL’S BOPE OPERATORS

Rainbow Six Siege’s Operation Skull Rain expansion is coming to PS4, Xbox One, and PC on August 2. As with previous Rainbow Six Siege expansions, Operation Skull Rain includes two new Operators: Caveira and Capitão, both from Brazil’s Batalhão de Operações Policiais Especiais (BOPE). The new Operators will be instantly available to Season Pass holders, who will have exclusive access to them for the first seven days.

Caveira is the defensive Operator of the two. As such, she possesses the “Silent Step” skill that enables her to sneak up on enemies to immobilize and then interrogate them to reveal their teammates’ location. Her arsenal includes an M12 and SPAS-15 for primary weapons, a PRB92 as a secondary, and Nitro Cell C4 and Barbed Wire for gadgets.

As the attacker, Capitão carries a tactical crossbow that can fire asphyxiating bolts that burn oxygen within a certain radius, as well as micro smoke grenades that can mask positions and team movements. Capitão also has an M-249 and PARA-308 for primary weapon options, a PRB92 for secondary, and frag and stun grenades rounding out his available arsenal.

Operation Skull Rain will also have a new map for teams to do battle. Set in a Brazilian favela, this new map supports exterior shell destruction, making it Rainbow Six Siege’s most destructible map to date. The new map will be free for all players.

Finally, the development team will also add several tweaks and improvements to the overall Rainbow Six Siege experience. Perhaps the biggest of these is the addition of a Tactical Realism custom game mode. By popular request, the Tactical Realism mode prevents players from marking enemies, allowing only the timer, compass, gadget, and weapon panels to be visible in the HUD. Additionally, there are no kill confirmations, and more realistic magazine management will be put into play. The idea is to push players to rely even more on their teammates and communication for information on enemy locations and kill counts.

A new angled grip attachment and a new surrender system will also be introduced in the update. The angled grip makes the transition between hip fire and ADS much faster, creating a faster-paced style of combat. Meanwhile, the new surrender system makes it possible for your team to surrender during a ranked match with a majority vote, but matches can only be surrendered before the third round.

More details on Operation Skull Rain will be revealed during the Season Two Xbox Pro League Finals livestream on July 30 at 3AM CET.

It does sound great in theory but I don't think it will overtake ranked. If we have 5 on one day we should try it but we would struggle like fuck to tell people where we and they are.

"There they are!" "Where?" "There! By the thingy!"

I am seriously struggling to resist the urge to buy the seaon pass. This game just gets better and better the more I play it and the support is on a whole different level. This is certainly not what I'd expect from Ubisoft so it's a really pleasant change.

Think I'm the last one left without the season pass now! But considering how many of you have it I'd never get to use the new operators anyway!! Really happy they're continuing to update the game in this manner, this game will have some serious legs if they carry on

Was going to get on for some games tonight!

It shouldn't take long now Rich with your wizzy internet! I'll be turning it on when I get home as it shouldn't be a superbig download.

Ok so the new operators are good. The interrogation thing is a gimmick which I suspect is going to fizz out very quick because you not only have to injure someone without killing them, but be able to interrogate them without being killed. That said it is a very rewarding tactic so if you pull it off, the payoff is excellent. The crossbow dude is excellent, I can see him becoming a firm favourite.

The new map is brilliant, really love it. Need to learn it more but the initial feel is very positive.

Some cracking games last night, I really seemed to find my mojo for a bit and then it died towards the end of the evening but it was a blast. Love playing this with you guys.

While in her stealth mod you cannot kill anyone, even headshots with the pistol.

Does it decrease her damage?

Not sure Rich, I believe the damage is the same but it just codes her lethal rounds to trigger DNBO.

Ahh i see, that's pretty cool, just so it's not majorly over powered.

I feel that Capitão is over powered, you don't even have to aim it at the person and they die in seconds. Rob, the other night i watched you place one on a wall next to the dude in the house and he died almost instantly. I say this but no one else seems to think it's over powered.

Only thing with capiTAO is that he's super vulnerable in that crossbow mode.

In what way? Sorry should have read more in depth on this, just skimmed over both ops but never saw his crossbow being this powerful.

So his crossbow is super strong if you are going against a group of defenders that is dug into one location. But to aim, and change to your rifle takes a little time, so you can't really aim up the perfect shot in the heat of battle and hope to live through it. I tend to scout where they are with a drone and peak around the corner firing, hoping I hit around my target.

I've been killed more times than I've killed someone when I have that crossbow out.
