Ever had one of those weeks?

Recommended Posts

Ok, so here's the story so far.

It's late in the working day last Thursday I've been in since 6am and am starting to realise that I'll have choice but to come into the office on Good Friday to get straight before having a week off.

Sure enough I go in and get most of what I want to get done sorted only to get a call from the missus saying the bath tap had come apart in her hands and she couldn't get it reconnected and working, I shoot home sort that and then go back to work to finish off the last few outstanding bits of work.

Saturday, came and went not too bad as went to see Catfish and the Bottlemen in Sheffield, good time had by all.

Sunday morning (and this when it all turns to shit) the washing machine completely packs up on us, it's 15 years old and was well past it's best. We go to the local Currys and it's shut! Ok we'll go back on Monday. We get home so I say to the other half I'll quickly go to the bottle bank then call in at the local Tesco Express up the road on the way back and get some wine.

I can't get in the car park as it's heaving so park on the road. Did the shop starts the car checks the mirrors pulls off and bang I hit a chuffing taxi! I managed to cave his rear passenger door in and beat the crap out of my front offside wing and bang the steering about! While also realising that my MOT had run out at the beginning of March while I was working the US and I just haven't had a chance to get it sorted since I got home mid March..........oh shit!! Thankfully I'm told it's not a deal breaker and my insurance should still be good, hopefully.

Monday, go back to Currys buy new washing machine can get it delivered Weds great, they'll unistal the old one and install the new one!  Didn't for one minute figure on the tap for the cold water feed for the washer being broken so they deliver the washing machine on Weds but tell me they can't install it because they are not allowed to fix broken plumbing!! Car gets picked up late Weds afternoon and have now wasted yet another day waiting for other people, starting to get really pissed off by now.

Thursday, sort out the broken cold feed tap for the washer, install new washer come to run it and the waste feed isn't seated correctly and get water everywhere. Just phoned car repairers to see what the damage is and if they can repair my car. It's still being assessed but if it can be I can get a loan car tomorrow.

So I'm now nearing the end of my week off which has been a complete and utter waste of time. Waiting for deliveries, pick up's, no car.............and still a few more days to go before I go back to work.

Feel your pain Mark!

Had a week off last September which had a car crash at the beginning (the other car, a Mini, ended up on it's roof) and a smash in the wife's car at the end in which she was sitting in it , engine off but seat belt on thankfully when she gets hit at about 30mph by someone who "didn't see her". She refuses to drive now she was that shaken up!!

Hope the insurance/MOT issue is resolved OK

All good they are fixing my car as of Monday, get a loan car today, washing machine installed and working well. As for the bottle bank that;s where I get hooked to a large Vodka after a week like this!  :D

Container for recycling empty glass bottles Doc :)

Ah.  I was considering a liquor store as a possibility.  :D

Uber, glad its getting sorted for you.  Just remember "regression to mean."  The shittier any given time period is, the more likely the next time period will be better.

Quick update, got a call yesterday telling me my new offside front wing should be delivered next week and work will start on my car as soon as it arrives.

Also had a call from my insurance company telling me that one of the passengers in the taxi I hit has put in a personal injury claim, watch this space!

Now I thought fender was what we call the bumper

I'm going to guess the bumper is the same.  The horizontal things across the front and the back to reduce or eliminate damage in crashes.  They used to commonly be chromed steel but are more likely plastic of some type today.

Fenders are the body panels over your front tires.  Quarter panels are the same thing but over your back tires.

Since you probably call them "flib-jimmies" or something equally Monty Python-esque, the doo-dads that let you in and out are "doors".  :D
