Cancelled!

Developer Sports Interactive says the 2025 edition was "too far away from the standards" fans deserve.

What a total cock up from Sports Interactive.

I would say it's a shame but it's a bit like Fifa in that it does not really change all that much so missing out a year won't matter too much. I can only think they have spent time actually trying to implement something and it has yet to work and in turn it has held up the rest of the project.

A whole new engine, the game is in no state to release to the public.

Apparently they wanted to add woman's football leagues as well.

I think people will be disappointed, but at least they will miss a year.

Unlike Fifa or cod, they would just roll that shit out anyway.

Sega will be pissed at all the preorders cancelled and refunds on FM25.

I was actually thinking about picking it up, as I have been out of the FM series for a about a decade.

I liked all the old school championship managers, premier manager, LMA Manager etc.

Sega will definitely be fuming especially with the licencing costs they are shipping for what will be nothing this year! They'll also be furious that there isn't a contingency plan in place i.e have an annual update on the side, which they can charge a smaller amount for but at least it'll keep money coming in and people happy. Konami did the same for their final paid eFootball game before they transitioned to a new engine and a F2P model and that worked pretty well and they were also honest about what was going on and what would be in the final product. Definitely should've been in place especially with the amount of high-risk changes and updates they were doing for FM25 and you just can't get away with delays or non-releases in annual franchises.

A rare but extremely costly mistake from SI games. Not a travesty for the community though as a database mod update will do the job but it's disappointing none the less.

You should pick up Fm24 with the editor mod and download the retro databases from TheMadScientist. Currently playing an arsenal save that started in the 1998/99 season. Brought in Gabriel Batistuta, a 19 year old Ronaldinho, a 20-year old Nesta and I’ve got Kaka, Robben, Ribery, Eto’o and Vidic in my academy. On the 3rd season atm having won damn near everything 2 yesrs in a row. Current team is attached. Also brought in a 16 year old Lahm who’s already rated at 2 1/2 stars

That team is absolutely unreal, no wonder you won everything.

Yeah I should of picked up Fm24, was on sale not that long ago.

Decided to wait a couple of months for the new one instead.

It was like £17 on steam a few weeks back, then went back up to £45.

Now although I can afford it, but it is the principal of it. 😜

Current best is 40% off at Indiegala which is just shy of £27

That will probably be the best price we'll see for a while as I expect retailers and the publishers will keep it quite high after the cancellation news. Even CDKeys are charging £29 now!

First season was rough, Keown, Adams and Seaman have been great for me, but Dixon and Winterburn were both 32+ when I started so they needed replacing. Seaman hung up his gloves after 2nd season so Van Der Saar only just came in. Sadly I had to sell Bergkamp as I had too many strikers and also had some issues with homegrown players… Shevchenko was a steal at 23, already one of the best in the world but he was still at Kyiv and they accepted bloody pennies for a man that should have set me back 100+ mil 😂😂 Batistuta is in a league of his own though even as he is about to turn 32

I'd rather sometimes these annual games took a year out to make significant updates and changes so it feels more of a reason to buy the next game. Still never good to say you're releasing it and then bin it completely.

That's a great price, glad you posted it.

Very tempted to pick this up.

Apparently the game is also being removed from sale this month so this could be last chance saloon to get it as well at a discount.

Yeah it's a beastly good price, I've missed out on it a couple times already recently.

Mainly because I was just gonna wait for 25, but we know how that turned out. 😅

To be fair steam should have 24 at 20 quid on the nose until 26 comes out. Just out of respect for the recent run of events.
