You can build on as many islands as you want and have multiple bases. But, you can only place down 10 fast travel points (not counting the ones that the game just unlocks for you in important locations) so just keep that in mind. In my solo world I’m keeping my original base for now, I might tear it down and move it later, I dunno. On the FG server we have starter bases set up but have moved most workbenches and resources down to the FG Cove where we (mainly Carl, La and John) are building something on a much bigger scale. (I just farm resources like a madman 😂)

Last question, I know you can go to other Islands, so does it make sense to build up on your starting one, or will I end up abandoning this one for a better one later? I don't really view this game like Enshrouded, or Icarus, where you can get away with having one base, but it could be. IDK Boars, Drowned, and Dodo's are still kicking my ass, but I can whip the shit out of crabs

Caves may not be affected by it, just seen a video where someone placed it as close to one as possible, I think other resources do get affected by it though, so check before you move it

They do if they are outside your bonfire range. I think it takes 6 hours though

Do resources respawn? I doubt it, but I know some games have it. I have a ton of seeds for trees and peppers, but I ran out of clay and copper in my cave.

So they just announced yesterday that the next biome, the Ashlands, will be released in anout 6 months time along with a load of new stuff. There will also be a smaller update soon, no date given, to fix some things and improve stuff as well as adding more building pieces. Here’s hoping we get triangular foundations! So I’m 65 hours into this now. Just unlocked the 3rd biome and I’m working on getting the big bad mother Frigatte. Been grinding silly amounts of resources for that and also for the FG cove that’s in the works. Helped @RenFengge @Tar-Eruntalion and @TurboR56Mini beat the first boss so they could unlocked the 2nd biome, the brig and more crafting starions and recipies. We also finally found the rapier of a thousand cuts 😅 Instantly ascended it and fully upgraded it as the bleed effect is so damn nice to have.

setting up new PC now, and grabbed it. Should be done by tomorrow morning. I have like another 50$ in my steam wallet if there is something else I should get

I'm building FG Cove on the server and I'm always out of wood. We've dumped thousands and need thousands more! But it's dope and everyone will have a room in the "big house". Glad you are liking it, man. Since the characters are transferable, when you want to join, you will be at the level you are.

So ya. This game is good. After the raging success of Arc Raiders and my inexplicable sudden loss of interest in it, I've been looking for something new to play, with trusty old WoW plugging away in the background, and this is it. It even made me order a new GPU as my current one ramps the fans to 100℅ randomly and then just sits there trying to air-dust the whole postcode. The graphics are good, the combat is very rewarding once you suss it out, the exploration is like nothing else, the crafting and gathering is well balanced unlike some games which will have you chopping down entire forests just to build one fucking door (*cough* Valheim). I've only just finished up the first island and got the first ship, I'm now just exploring the various POIs on the map to get some XP. Really enjoying it, and just when I thought I'd got the boars sussed, the game throws those charging fuckers at me. Cunts.
