What is, in your opinion, the best Bond out there?

For convenience's's sake, I'm only starting with Sean Connery, since it's the time when Bond films really took off.

I got to go with my main man Pierce Brosnan.

The man just oozes Bond out of every pore with sharp wit and deadly sophistication.

I can even excuse the cringeworthy "Die Another Day" because of the greatness of the rest of his catalog.

I'd need to rewatch a bunch of them to make an honest assessment, however, I grew up with Roger Moore. He was bond during my impressionable years. Daniel Craig leaves me with a resounding meh feeling. He seems more serious action guy than, cool and suave.

If you decide to put your dick in crazy, be ready to change your phone number and relocate.

I like the way the movies with Craig, just not a huge fan of him.

He's not Bond.

He's just a random action hero.

I sure as hell would enjoy his movies alot more if they were associated with something else.

/I really hope the "James Bond is a code name" theory is true, that'd make James Blonde a dark chapter in the Bond legacy.

Connery made Bond but I liked the Roger Moore films best I think. I loved much of the Moore era humor and the varied films. Connery was a real class actor and undertook the role in scintillating fashion. He really set the benchmark. I loved the fact that despite this; all the Bond actors made him their own although Sean gave the most accurate representation based on the books I feel.

Dalton and Lazenby's films were all really good but they didn't have a fair crack at the whip. Didn't really miss them after they departed though.

I loved Goldeneye and Tomorrow Never Dies with Brosnan who was a brilliant Bond but TWINE and Die Another Day were quite frankly terrible films particularly the latter.

I've warmed to Daniel Craig now although there isn't much of a Bond feel about him at first and still isn't. The films have been pretty good particularly Royale and Skyfall even though that film was beyond crazy (check out cinemasins if you haven't seen it already)

Sean Connery is the true James Bond IMO. The best by far. Roger Moore would come in a close 2nd for me, then Pierce Brosnan, then Daniel Craig, and that sissy-ass Timothy Dalton is a shame to the entire Bond franchise if you ask me lol. By far the worst Bond ever...hell I'd even put George Lazenby ahead of Dalton (you younger guys can google who that is because most of you probably don;t remember him ;)

BTW I'm a HUGE Bond fan. I've got all the Connery/Moore/Brosnan ones on DVD. Actually have watched about 4 Bond flicks just the past week alone, they have been showing a ton of them on some of the late night cable channels lately.

Plumbers Crack, you better get you a$$ back in here and explain yourself.

Hold on there friend, Lazenby over Dalton?

I don't think you've ever seen On Her Majesty's Secret Service! xD

Dalton was the most serious and darker Bond, and I quite frankly enjoyed his entries (especially The Living Daylights). I've even heard his portrayal is the one that was closer to Ian Fleming's source material.

Oh yes, me too.

I remember sharing the grief with you over Skyfall. x)

Ho! The blasphemy! It hurts my little heart! x)

TWINE is one of my favorite Bond films ever. Why do you think it sucked?

But yeah, Die Another Day sucked huge pelotas.

This is funny

I must be too much of a Bond fan because the only one that made me cringe was the snowboarding part and when Jaws fins love with the deaf girl. x)

Dalton to me was just was off par for what James Bond is supposed to be. He was way too skinny and frail looking, was fugly as hell, and looked like a 10 yr old could probably kick his ass. On top of that I always thought he was a pretty poor actor to start with, so yeah, he was the bottom of the order for my taste in Bond's.

I'm still not a huge Daniel Craig fan as Bond, but he did redeem himself quite a bit with his performance in Skyfall. I have to give him credit for that one.

@Datte

I dunno why I didn't like TWINE; I should have as it had Denise Richards in  it also had some pretty good set-pieces but it just didn't grab me in the way I wanted to grab Dr Christmas Jones's boobs B)

You've all forgotten David Niven as Bond in the original Casino Royale

Nobody can say Dalton / Craig / Lazenby are bad Bonds, because Niven set the bar so low. Compared to Niven, everyone is a good Bond.

You can't count that as a real "Bond" movie because it wasn't actually part of the James Bond series. That was a spoof / parody movie with peter Seller, and Woody Allen. Counting that as a part of the true Bond series would be like counting Space Balls as part of the Star Wars series lol.

I’d like to participate in this thread but I haven’t seen all of the films. I watched Dr. No last night as a kick start. It was well done for the time.

I started getting interested in watching them all when I briefly watched 1974 - The Man with the Golden Gun on TV. I refuse to watch movies on TV so I can’t wait to watch up to it!

I have seen Casino Royale & Skyfall. Even though I really enjoyed Casino Royale Craig’s sucked in cheeks and duck face lips disqualify him from consideration in the running.

I’ll vote when I’ve done the research.

deterioration- have you seen "The Spy Who Loved Me" (Roger Moore) yet? If not let me know because when I was building up my Bond DVD collection a few years ago I mistakenly bought that movie twice so I have a DVD copy of that I'll send ya free if you want it. Long as you don't live a billion miles away lol I don't think you do though.

No, and thank you! I do appreciate it but I'm all set. :)

OK so I'm through 1963 From Russia with Love and 1:28:xx into 1964 Goldfinger. My girl fell asleep last night.

FRWL was pretty boring but I'm liking Goldfinger. The movies are starting to get more and more of what I thought Bond was about (a spy with cool toys and a bad ass car who gets it in with all the hot bitches where and whenever he can) ^_^

There are a few 1 liners so far but I really laughed in the beginning of Goldfinger when JB spun the ho he was kissing on around so she gets knocked out then fights and throws the attacker and a fan into the tub only to finish up with "Shocking. Positively shocking.

O also there was a worst music in a bond film thread here, I think, and I want to nominate the Goldfinger score/theme. I think the ba ba ba's are supposed to be like the music is saying Goldfinger but it keeps reminding me of Moon River.

Love that line from Goldfinger...

"Do you expect me to talk?"

"No Mr. Bond, I expect you to die! :) "

Overall great movie with a, yes, a so-so opening theme. x)
