Anyone used these in the US before? They've really blown up on social media but mostly for the wrong reasons. They primarily specialise in the selling of retro consoles which they claim to have cleaned, restored and tested. However their prices are usually 3x what you'd pay on the likes of eBay and in many cases, the consoles have not been touched at all. The words 'ripoff' and 'scam' seem to be most associated with them and some of the goods they've even issued to content creators have been of abysmal standard. Some examples:-

Yet what they put out on the likes of TikTok shows them dealing with each order with precise care and attention. Most of the time you can't even get a real controller with the machine either because they are selling those separately at an insane rate and then instead give you some crappy 3rd party one with your $400+ purchase.

I bought a Pokemon Yellow GBC from them with a great experience. Here's my thing on the social media shit, these are collectors' items and with eBay you run the risk of getting fakes. The pieces I have gotten from them are in good condition and working well.

I'd say they're pretty decent for people not that into video games. They're a tad expensive but that's only because what your buying has been restored to a good quality.

I'm not that keen on the dis videos about them, I find a lot of them are by 'collectors' and that isn't their market I don't think.. more for casual gamers.

I see both sides. I think the anger is a little bit much from the youtubers as there isn't as much wrong with them as they say there is. However, I do have a problem in people thinking they can make an extremely large buck out of gullable buyers that are more likely to be casual gamers as you say @James5497 because they won't know none the wiser. A PS3 for $400, even refurbished is quite mental, but if people buy them then they won't stop what they're doing.

Out of this I think the least DK Oldies could do would be to update their wording somewhat to reflect what you are purchasing. Most of these products worked so the videos for me should've been focused on clarity on their wording more than anything. Oh, and also they should be very clear about Official and Non-Official equipment. I'd be devastated to receive that shite non-standard controller in the first video for over $400. I suppose the difference with me is that I know what i'm looking for.

More generally speaking, I'd argue that game pricing has been severely inflated for a number of years now across the board, not just DKoldies, and stops the small percentage of us that love all games to play them and not re-sell them on. Its so incredibly difficult to play on all the games we can find these days on older consoles for an affordable price.

By YouTubers. They've made collecting Pokemon Cards for TCG play or the standard hobbiest insufferable, collecting retro games, you name it. They're pissy about the prices they helped create..

The point that a lot of these YouTubers are making is that DKOldies claim they clean and/or refurbish the consoles which justifies their 3X cost price compared to rivals and the general market, yet in many cases including normal customers, there is huge evidence that they do not always do this and in some, the machines are internally damaged on top. They make all these TikTok's showing the utmost care and attention to these alleged orders yet what people receive and the way it's delivered is literally taking the piss.

YouTuber's can burn money on things like this for videos but if you were a normal person that spent $450 on a classic Xbox that was delivered in a bashed up box with the console protected by bog roll and the machine wasn't cleaned or even tested, then you'd feel very hard done by, bordering on scammed. There's not many places you can buy machines safely, especially with places that offer a comprehensive 'specialist' service and guarantee so when they start half-arsing it or not doing things by their book and charging triple, it's kinda sad.
