Do not watch Leave The World Behind on Netflix.  It pulls you in early, makes you think there's going to be some good story here, and then absolutely nothing happens.  Its dumb as fuck.

The new Mission Impossible is fantastic.  Free Solo about Alex Honnold is also a 100% watch

Never thought I'd see it in a top 3 but nice call out.  My brothers and I dressed as the Blues Brothers for Halloween one year back in the 90s.  The reverse backflip is still one of the funniest things I've ever seen.

@techno I also crushed S5 the past 2-3 days.  This was one of the better seasons IMO because it got away from all the teeny bopper drama stuff.  It's still in there, but not as bad as other seasons.  I can't get enough of this show it sucks so much ass but it's also awesome at the same time.  Sort of reminds me of The Ranch on Netflix.  Just awful but for some reason I couldn't stop watching and that didn't even have nostalgia going for it.

I saw it last week.  It was a decent movie but nothing to go out of your way for.  Took forever before the plot actually went somewhere and it had some OG ghostbusters vibes, but overall it was just ok.

Ahsoka is having her own show

Hopefully with a new actress.  I don't know what it was about her but it seemed really amateurish the way she delivered her lines.  She sounded like a little teenager with no emotion, or overly fake emotion.  When I first heard her speak her first line I literally did a cringe face.  It didn't match what I was expecting at all.  After that the whole interaction just felt empty and fake to me.  I loved that episode but that was a pretty bad casting I think.  I'll take any star wars spinoff I can get but man I hope they find someone else.

On another note, when the jedi showed up at the end and I was like hell yeah, it's going to be Rey!  Then Luke appeared and I was like wait, WTF?  TIL this series doesn't take place after recent sequels lol.  Overall it got much better as it went.  I'm still bent about how much the Mandalorian sucks at fighting and still gets his ass kicked at least once or twice every episode, almost dying every time and getting saved by the skin of his teeth.  Why can Boba Fett show up and go full jedi on those storm troopers like a badass and all we get to see is Mando getting shot in the armor a bagillion times.  Everyone else is a badass fighter in this series except Mando and I can't get past it lol.

The Mandalorian

I've been a big star wars fan since the beginning, and I'm enjoying this series but to be honest it's getting overly redundant and I'm frustrated that they haven't progressed the main story line at all.  Every episode is the same thing - goes to a new place, someone needs some help so they go fight some big boss battle, they win and then fly to another planet.  Oh, and this "mandalorian" who everyone is scared of because they're such amazing warriors gets bailed out seemingly every episode by someone else.  He almost dies, someone else comes in to save him.  Every single episode is like this.

I just want there to be more of a point to what I'm watching.  He's been "delivering" baby yoda almost the entire series and he's no closer to that goal than he was in the 2nd episode and we don't really know anything more beyond that.

I think I might be one episode behind as I haven't checked this weekend, but that's how its been for me so far

Diddums' Music Thread

Yeah can't complain too much.  It's like Groundhog day over here and I've gotten pretty tired of it so I bit the bullet and joined the golf club in my neighborhood a couple weeks ago.  Guy that lives across the street is a member and he has his own golf cart, so we go play and get nice and hammered and then drive the course to get back home so no worries on the 5-0.  Getting the kiddos into it as well and played a few rounds with them.  We also finally got our travel trailer hooked up with 30 amp power at the in-laws farm back in March so we've been spending a lot of time camping out there which has been a life saver with this COVID isolation stuff.  They have 50 acres out in the country and our camper is in the back portion of their land so we have about 10 acres completely to ourselves.

Beyond that, riots and shit are happening everywhere over here right now and it's not looking good tbh.  As if we didn't have enough BS to deal with due to COVID.

Started watching The Expanse. @Bluebear mentioned it I think recently so when I noticed it on Amazon Prime I thought I'd give it a go. Really enjoying it so far.

The Expanse is so damn good and it gets better and better every episode and every season.  I tell everyone about it.  I found it a while back after hearing some astrophysicist on a Joe Rogan podcast and he was drooling over this show.  Definitely in my top 5 all time.

Band of Brothers

Heroes

Lost

Spoiler

I think it has to be Hopper.  All of the people who have died on the show were visibly shown, so I think they did that on purpose to give them a storyline with Hopper.  I also think I read somewhere that he's signed up for Season 4 so that would be my guess.

Glad to hear you liked it man.  Just do yourself a favor and avoid the Stranger Things subreddit.  It seems that I'm in good company with my frustrations and I found myself yesterday deep in the echo chamber.  Now I like the season a whole lot less than I did originally lol.

Spoiler

Now that you've seen it through, here's my biggest beef.  Why the hell didn't Hopper just walk 20 feet back to the control room tower when he was done fighting the terminator for the 3rd time?!?!?!  Nah, instead we get..... "it's OK Joyce, I want to be a hero and I'm fine if you kill the shit out of me right now so I'll just nod my approval after a 20 second emotional staredown where we both come to terms about what HAS to happen even though I could have made it to the control tower in about 5 seconds".

The mall where they shot all of Stranger Things is about 30 minutes away from me.  I grew up going to that mall  but it's been a complete ghost town for the last 15 years.  All the anchor stores are gone and I think it's about 70 percent vacant.  I pass by it on the way back from my office so I walked through it last year to see if I could catch a glimpse of the set.  Everything was blocked off though so you couldn't really see anything.  I was in my work clothes which is nothing fancy, just slacks and a button down, and I stuck out like a sore thumb in that mall.  I actually felt pretty unsafe in there so I noped the hell out.

Top Gun - Maverick

Man I don't see how you can watch that trailer and not be pumped about it.  The best part of Top Gun was the dogfights and generally anything revolving around the jets.  Not so much the story because lets be honest it was mediocre at best.  This movie from what it appears is all about the jets and with todays CGI, if done right, could make for an epic movie.  Plus I really doubt Tom Cruise is going to half-ass something this iconic.  I don't think I've seen a Tom Cruise movie that wasn't awesome.  If he's revamping Top Gun, it's gonna be at a high standard.  He doesn't do anything for money or attention.  He has thetan

What a bummer.  I just started watching the Punisher a week ago.  I’m about 5 episodes in I’ve been loving it.  I thought this had serious longetivity to it.  Maybe they should just keep superhero stuff to movies instead of series.  This was the only tv show that’s caught my attention.  I suffered through 5 or 6 episodes of Iton Fist hoping it would get better but that series is just shit.  Tried Daredevil as well but couldn’t get past the 3rd episode.  I’m really struggling to find new Shows to watch on Netflix.  Pretty much seen them all by this point.

Wife and kids went to my in-laws today.  Soooooo I watched ready player one again, but this time cranked up my surround sound so loud that the picture frames upstairs were rattling lol.  Man I fucking love this movie

As far as the bad reviews are concerned, don’t even bother reading them.  I didn’t know anything about the movie when it came out.  I don’t have cable so I never see commercials or movie trailers.  I had never even heard of it until my brother turned it on.  Gotta check it out people.

Same for me lol.  I first watched it over Christmas at my parents house.  It was on HBO on-demand, and we made it through about 75% of the movie before we had to leave.  The next day I bought the blu-ray version from Redbox (DVD rental machine at grocery stores in the US) for like $6 and watched it again in the morning.  Then right after, I went to Best Buy, bought the 4k version and a 4k blu-ray player just to watch the movie for a 3rd time in 2 days.  Never done that before lol

Black panther. Terrible film one of my least favourite marvel movies. The first part was so slow I was traveling Twitter and the rest just too much CGI. Now I know we have to have it but it's just overused and in this case badly whereas I felt in Dr Strange it was done well. Think im also burnt out on over hyped "blockbusters"

A polar opposite I watched American assassin on Netflix last night and really enjoyed it, also this is how it ends which wasn't too bad either.

If you liked American Assassin - it's based on one of the Mitch Rapp series books by Vince Flynn.  I've read them all.  They're incredible.  Granted, a big piece of the story is unveiled in this movie but it doesn't take away from the enjoyment of these books.  This happened to be the first book of the series I read.  After that, I started with book 1 and read all of them.  Can't recommend these books enough.  Tragedy that Vince Flynn died recently, but you're not left with a cliffhanger or anything in the storyline because of it.
