Ok my biggest tunnel yet is nearing completion running from ~ X = +983, Z = +1138 to the railhead at X = -364, Z = -19..... yeah, that's a shed load of blocks, even if you don't include the dog legs, rises, dips, etc!! Looking at the advice given by Bart, this tunnel is 7 blocks wide x 3 blocks high What I need to know now is the layout across the tunnel? There shouldn't be a problem with mobs below ground as there are torches on both walls on every other block. I don't know if I go past anyone else's base who may want to use part of the tunnel? Should I come full width to the surface or just 2 or 3 wide? I'm itching to start laying tracks so any advice would be appreciated. Greboth, I know you're going to do the main terminus near the spawn so I'll just put a temporary platform etc there Feedback per-leezz!

  4. Update...I've found the extremity of one end of the obstruction at X = 124, Y = 6 so I can carry on for now Bart...thanks
  5. Okay..I've surveyed the surface from the spawn and it appears that I can't break anything between X = 124 and X = -77...I haven't gone across country (North by view) to try it

This is turning into a nightmare....at the 7 block wide tunnel face I've gone quite a few blocks either way (definitely a total exceeding 16 blocks which I believe is the spawn protection) and on one side I came to a cave, which seemed to offer a way past ...nope! Couldn't make a lot out in the gloom (couldn't put a torch on the wall!) but it seemed the walls and floor just can't be broken! Any ideas guys?

  8. Weirder on the surface.....can't dig in a greater area....didn't measure it, but can dig okay at my place. I tried deleting my profile and restarting the game but that had no effect, so possibly it's not me? Also, as well as not being able to break blocks, you can't attach to them either
  9. If it happens again today I might go up top and see what's there....perhaps it's an "anti-Tommy" measure!
  10. Can anybody help? I'm on coords X = 126, Z = 40, Y = 15 and I'm trying to break through a vertical wall of blocks. The pick axe animation works, you get a glimpse of the next block then the original block reappears. I can break blocks on either side wall or the floor or ceiling OK but not vertically straight in front of me. I've tried restarting the game but that doesn't do anything. Anybody got any ideas?

  20. A hardware telated query....I seem to be struggling a bit in game after I've teleported a few times or have been playing a while. Actions become "laggy" until it becomes unplayable or just freezes. A total restart of the game from the launcher cures it. I've got a 4 Gb memory stick in the laptop, I've changed the memory value in the launcher to "2" and reduced the render distance to 10 (whatever that does!) Would I see any significant improvement in game by swapping the memory stick to an 8Gb version? I couldn't sell it to Mrs P with the "it'll speed everything else up" argument as the only other thing the laptop is used for is word processing so I need to be sure before shelling out ~£60 Thanks guys
