They are. When you are hitting the war priest you get a crit with the sniper, not so with the fusion. Just more dps with the sniper.

Yeah, the quests for the gunsmith require old shit. I know I needed 2 legendary sniper rifles dismantled for my hunter, so check those class specific quests out. Save some elemental primary guns for patrol, I know I've seen x arc weapon kills for a bounty. Primary makes that fast. G-horn still rapes in patrol. Otherwise just save stuff you like for pvp I guess.

Think there is a perk you need to select as well. Can't remember for sure.
