  1. http://www.destructoid.com/activision-completes-buyout-to-become-independent-263467.phtml Activision Blizzard has officially completed its buyback of $8.2B worth of shares from Vivendi, technically making the software giant an independent entity. Now, the company is majority owned by public shareholders. While the transaction was originally brokered in July, a shareholder attempted to stop it by filing a lawsuit in August. Yesterday, the Delaware Supreme Court overturned the original ruling that halted the deal, thereby completing the process. Of the $8.2B, Activision purchased 429 million shares for $5.83B. Additionally, an investment venture led by company CEO Bobby Kotick and chairman Brian Kelly bought 172 million shares for $2.34B, although it's unclear how much each personally expended. With regard to the deal, Kotick optimistically said "we open a new chapter in the history of Activision Blizzard. We expect immediate shareholder benefits in the form of earnings-per-share accretion and strategic and operational independence. Our audiences and our incredibly talented employees around the world will benefit from a focused commitment to the creation of great games. Our shareholders and debt holders will have the benefit of an energized, invested, deeply committed management team focused on generating long-term, superior returns and effectively managing our capital structure." http://www.joystiq.com/2013/10/11/activision-completes-purchase-of-itself-from-vivendi/ Activision's buyback of $8.2 billion of its own shares from Vivendi has been completed, the publisher announced today. It was just yesterday that the Delaware Supreme Court overturned a September ruling that halted the purchase, which followed a lawsuit by an Activision Blizzard shareholder in August. The shareholder alleged a "breach of fiduciary duties, waste of corporate assets and unjust enrichment" on Activision's behalf. The publisher's purchase from Vivendi amounts to 429 million of its own shares for $5.83 billion. Additionally, Activision CEO Bobby Kotick and Co-Chairman Brian Kelly purchased 172 million shares for $2.34 billion in a separate transaction. Activision is now officially an independent company, majority owned by its shareholders. "The shares Activision Blizzard purchased in the transaction will no longer be treated as outstanding, leaving the majority of the remaining 690 million shares in the hands of public shareholders," Activision noted in today's announcement. Activision said yesterday that it expected the purchase to be completed on October 15. The transaction came about four days ahead of schedule, as someone must have sprinted to the bank this morning.
  2. I'm planning on being online for quite a while on Monday night. We are leaving for vacation Tuesday afternoon so I'm staying up late Monday and playing LoL, then sleeping in on Tuesday. Won't be on much this week at all. I really hope to see some of you guys online Monday night.
  3. Cassidy. How are you doing man? I hope your family is doing alright with everything that happened. How are these videos coming along? I know at one point you said they were done, but that was right before everything happened. Hope you're okay and I hope to see these videos soon.
  4. Absolutely not. Playing the previous ones will mean you have a better feel for the controls, game mechanics, etc.; however, you're not missing out on any deep story plot or anything. Like the Irishman said, there are cameos and references, but nothing that will hurt your experience, only add to those who have played them.
  5. Wow man, this sounds absolutely amazing! I love the RPG element. The town thing sounds very interesting too. I think a Norse theme would kick ass! I know someone who will be installing Minecraft again this week.
  6. My daughter is HUGE Monster Inc. fan. I enjoy watching the DVD w/ her as well. I've been wanting to get this for her as a Christmas gift.
  7. Check this out: http://workshop.chromeexperiments.com/stars/
  8. Nope. I have barely been able to play. Other than playing with you and Jason, that's it. I feel like I've barely scratched the surface of this awesome game. I'm okay with that though. I would be so pissed if I was a high level, with a house, and some nice cars and lost it all. I'm pumped about that 500,000 we are all getting though! I just need to look up guides on hookers now.
  9. Oh okay. Cool. I don't even know if I know my log-in and password! crap... I need to get this sorted. A while back I went from yahoo mail to gmail and removed my yahoo account completely. I've been having problems with things that are linked to that account. I hope this isn't the case.
  10. It's all good man. I didn't mean to sounds shitty about it. This post was just like deja vu for me. I guess I know why now. I am having a hard time understanding what text based game is. I could google it, but where's the fun in that? Anyone care to share their experiences in this genre?
  11. I won't be back on until Monday. If you see me on this weekend, I'm at work and rarely play. Sometimes I just adjust my builds/runes/masteries. Or I'll be testing things out in private matches, so if I ignore your invites... no offense.
  12. I'm interested. I miss Minecraft. I'll need help setting it up again, Sennex. I should still have that file you sent me. Maybe this week we could Skype/TeamSpeak and get it set up. No idea what Towny is... need to look it up.
  13. Wow man, that's a really tough situation. Especially the part about your dad helping with your son. That's tricky. Have you ever talked to your mom about it? I wish I had some advice for you. I'm just hoping to learn something so I can deal with my brother better. He's the same way. From my experience, people like that are very hard to help. You can't help them because they don't want help. They want to live their lives without consequences. These types of people seem like they've always been babied by a parent or grandparent. My brother has always been bailed out of trouble by my entire family. He's the baby of the family, so they've always looked after him. He's never learned how to deal with the consequences of his shit choices because he always has a safety net. They become dependent on everyone else and never learn how to grow up. At least that's how my brother is.
  14. Yeah, I hit submit. I'm going to try again here in a bit. I don't need to be on the PC that I want to download the game to, do I? I'm at work. It's definitely poorly done. Why was it taking foreeeever to refresh to the next category to vote? Was that just because of high traffic or something else?
  15. I'm having some issues too. I voted. Signed in w/ Facebook, but then it sends me back and says I need to vote. The link they provide sends me to my voting results/choices, lol. So... yeah, I voted. Not sure what to do. Then when it says to log in, it says the wrong log in, same problem as Mike I guess. Hmmm... this is weird. I really want Civ5
  16. I still want to do this. When does it end?
  17. ZIGGS!
  18. Yeah man, that was fun. Nice games today, Pat. We need to get a party of five again sometime.
  19. temp unavailable high traffic?
  20. I'll be on. I want some revenge on you guys. I'm tired of getting last place in every race!
  21. Anyone? Dave... you said I should be able to bump it all the way up, but when I move it up at all I end up w/ a black screen.
  22. Wow, that's pretty shocking.
