No we used just Vanilla MC If I do this with something like forge, then I will actually make it easier on everyone and setup some sort of modpack. So all you do is download it and you are done

If you get more into the RPG aspect of things, then you really need to jump in on Community Builds and stuff. Flying solo in them is rough. Even turning the level down to Easy, I sill die a lot with some of these mods. But that being said, it is possible to live near folks for mutual defense, and still fly solo. Having one main town for everyone to base from does help.

I don't know how many of you plan on checking this out, or playing it on a consistent basis, so I am going to go with the assumption that all of you will be. (If I go with the assumption that none of you will be, then I will make the server how my son would want it, and then most of you will get bored) Server 1.8 from Spigot gives us a few choices here, but if we go to 1.7.10 then we have about 5 times as many choices. I don't know what direction I will go yet, so bear with me.

If you want to play 1.7.10 version, the Backpacks mod that uses Forge is actually amazing. I can't lie. I have been tooling around in Resonant Rise while I work on this next server, and it is in that. It works perfectly. I don't know how it combines with the Barrels mod though.

They sort of pseudo imply it with Ragnar's use of the Sunstone, but what he was actually doing, historically, was using it to Navigate the open waters, and go straight across instead of down the coast, and then across the channel.

No, the Vikings had been raiding, what is now England and scotland, since around 700 ad. Ragnall (Ragnar in the series) just did it better, from further away, and actually attempted to control the areas, instead of raiding and leaving. The vikings started hitting France from the Coast around 800 ad or so. He did it better without following the coast the whole way, which was what they typically did. They most definitely knew it was there, they just picked a better route which saved time. (And what he is created with) Personally I can't wait for Lagertha to break out on her own, because historically, she is a pimp. Not to mention Ragnalls sons are fucking badasses, and when Ragnall is executed, they lay waste to pretty much everything they come across in England. Danishnet.com has some amazing articles about all of the historical figures. EDIT: I skipped past your point about the Jarl haraldsson, and you are absolutely correct. Personally I hated how they portrayed his willingness to kill the Blacksmith. That shit would have NEVER happened. Smiths were a protected class for the most part because their skill was so heavily relied upon.

ThunderDevil for the win! And yea, they could do this, pretty easily actually. All the weight is on the client end, the server just has to be able to store and send the GUID for the Color. Also, I wish Weapons were able to be shaded
