Diddums there must have been times in the last few weeks of mayhem when you must have thought 'why did I bother?' I'd just like to say thanks for bothering , the place is really important to me. You're running round sorting all the crap out, i am sure many of us really appreciate it, I know I do .

*momentarily comes out of retirement* Here's my opinion on these matters. I did not come here to have more 'freedom' and I didn't think any of us did. We came here because Auptyk was a massive cunt and the admin basically admitted he didn't give a shit about the community. That's why we're here, not because people wanted more freedom in what they could say. In general, I don't think people need to be censored; I believe the mod/admin's job is to keep things stable, not necessarily nice. It takes understanding your members and the situation. It takes diplomacy. Sometimes you'll get it right, sometimes you'll fuck up, but it's better I believe than trying to institute a strict set of rules and being naziesque about enforcing them. For example. Lepercolony and Spectre go at each other pretty intensely at times (as have Spectre and myself). However, knowing both of them as I do, I know that they can both take it as well as they can dish it. I know that neither of them will cross the 'line' and by golly, the argument will be interesting. I know that Cal, Tam, Adam, Euan, etc. like to bust balls and that it's all in good fun. I know no one's feelings are being hurt (except maybe Euan's but who cares) so let them do their thing. Not an issue. Now, where we run into problems... I watched as a young and naive forumer posted in the political section about how Obama would help the economy. I knew what was coming and said as much. Then McNasty arrived and tore into him. Had it been me or lepercolony or any number of other people, it would have been fine. Unfortunately, the person on the receiving end of McNasty's rebuttal was sensitive, young, naive, clueless—quite simply, they were in way over their head (but well-meaning in their original post). This was not a discussion amongst equals and nothing besides hurt feelings was going to come out of it. The point is that it is not so much about what is being said, but who the parties involved are. Some people can be allowed to duke it out, others must be shielded. This is moderating, literally, moderating personalities. Propping up the meek and blunting the strong so that all can harmoniously coexist. Let people run wild and eventually only the dominant personalities will remain, which is fine if that's what you want. It's not what I want.

Thank you but I'm not blocking anyone. In the interest of prosperity I'd like you to know don't hold any ill will against you. I just hope you'll handle your business differently in the future. If you don't agree with me tell me. I don't need an intelligently typed story to let me know I'm an asshole. I'm aware.

That's fine. Everyone disagrees. We all have our moments and our arguments, but certain folks aren't able to address these as civilized people and that's where I get annoyed. Posting PMs in public to prove a point is also just being petty. You know who you are. Don't let it happen again.

I've tried being nice, I've tried being polite, I've tried subtle hints, and people are still arguing. Enough is enough. From now on, I expect people to start using the report button if posts annoy you. I expect to see reports every day, and I expect people to either learn to have a civilized discussion, or you will be shown the door. I worked my fucking arse off to get this place to where we are today, and unfortunately giving people the freedom to say what they want results in nothing but arguing. This is now being revoked. I'm on red alert. You've been warned. Keep it civil, or I'll crack the whip.

First of all I want to say to Dave I respect what you have done here and are trying to do. Unfortunately there are all kind of different people here and what does not affect one person may affect someone else and it's really none of anyone's business what people take offence to. I would suggest that anytime you post something imagine saying it to someone face who's 6 inches taller and 80 lbs heavier. If you'd have the balls to do it then then it's probably ok to do it online. The biggest problem with online is you can be a total asshole to someone and not have to worry about them or their friends giving you a good old punch in the mouth. Ignore only works to some extent because people will quote people when they reply and those peoples posts will then appears in posts from people who's post you might want to read. Also it becomes quite evident when people are either making fun of you or berating you in a group so doing it in an anonymous forum is rather cowardly anyways.

i dunno . . . i think what you're trying to avoid is having issues between members affect other members who have nothing to do with it. you have guys like Mike who don't want to read it (obviously he's not the only one, just an example from this thread), so their activity-level goes down. that's bad (although i bet you could make an argument that this shit boosts traffic a little too, but whatever). issues happen. no amount of policing will prevent that. what we can prevent is spillage into the forum-at-large that taints the experience for everyone else. spillage has consequences for other forum members who don't want to be subjected to it, so spillage should also have consequences for the culprits (temp bans, whatever). settle it in PM and then either use ignore or don't use ignore. done?

the problem on the old forum wasn't censorship, it was basically one dude who wasn't kept on a short enough leash (but who ultimately meant well . . . kind of a shame). i liked the rules about civility then, but i'm also enjoying calling people on bullshit when they're being bullshitty now. and problems still come up, rules or no rules. we've seen that. if you want to set up a system where you're saying if you do _____ then your punishment will be _______, i say go for it, couldn't hurt. that said, i think a lot of people migrated because they didn't want a babysitter, and you were one of them. for my part, i'm happy to keep disagreements and issues in PM. where they belong. where they don't bother anyone else.

That's a solid line up for sure, Pat. Nice choices. So you don't care for Ash, Soraka, or Garen? I love all three of them I haven't played Tryndamere yet, but he looks like an absolute beast in this game. Udyr is supposed to be a really good Jungler, I've never played him, but I've seen Heiman do really well with him in the Jungle. I'm surprised to see Master Yi that low on your list too. He's really good if you get fed early. I like playing him Mid lane, but Top is fun too. Thanks for posting those man, I love seeing what others think of different champions.

  25. Lovely! I did get the bounty for them! 2 sniper shots as they were hiding behind a damn garbage container. The two of them in a heli chasing my heli was epic though! Yeah got an invite from a friend to survival, if you make it all 10 rounds it's 20k right in your pocket. No worries about killing me. Wasn't sure if you would see me or not and after you killed me I did try to gas you xD

I have 12 Here's the order - Warwick (Jungle, I seem to play him well most of the time) - Tryndamere (top) - Nunu (Jungle or support) - Corki (mid or bot) - Tristana (mid) - Annie (mid) - Udyr (top, disappointed with him in Jungle) - Master Yi - Alistar (I don't play them much pass this but you wanted them listed) - Ash - Soraka - Garen I need to get Nami, she was really good. I need a good support champ that I like and she was tops for me. There are some good lower tier one but I didn't end up liking them as much as I did Nami.

  28. the people that think its serious are even funnier First of all, John Cheese you as a dad made an grievous mistake of letting your 11 year old son play GTA V even after knowing it has high level of violence, offensive language, sexual content, drug and alcohol abuse and other vices. When a game is rated 'M', its not for fun, but to let people know that anyone under 15 years of age is incapable of digesting these vices. Now your son getting frustrated at not being able to complete a mission, this action is completely natural and common among kids. This behavior has been seen when a child fails to balance the lego bricks or playing cards while making tower. It has nothing to do with GTA V's tough mission. Our brain tends to ignore the visuals and sounds that are repetitive. You hear a song for first time and you'll notice slightest change in beats, but after hearing the song for 10 to 15 times, brain ignores it. Similarly for visuals. Your son's brain started ignoring the on coming traffic after repeatedly playing it. Thus he was crashing it. Being a dad you should have distracted him with some outdoor game instead of scolding. Your son is not a thief neither is his action regarding the iced tea wrong. He is a child spare him the accusations. A child won't care about things he like when provided in abundance, he'll notice it when it is reduced. If your son didn't ask where the extra iced tea came from, its not some robbery, he just didn't care and drank it. Now calling him racist is again wrong. If you want your child to use right words while addressing a person, give him good books to read and not some offensive game. Improve your child's vocabulary so that instead of using racist terms. Anyways, you Americans have overhyped racism, I am Indian and western guys in our countries call us the brown guys, we don't take it as offense. We have accepted that we have brown skin, what's bad about it? You don't decide what skin tone you want in your mother's womb... Now back to the point, you could have asked your son to name the character instead of accusing him of racism. If still after knowing his name if your child calls him so called racist term, 'black' then you can accuse him of racism. Now the last point, I think you should teach your child that if anything or anybody scares you, instead of cowering you should fight against it. From what you have written, I stood on chair to make myself look tall, I am sure you must have been bullied heavily when in school. I don't think GTA V made him murder the spider. Maybe he himself got scared and acted spontaneously or better... he saw his dad in trouble and saved him? You know what John Cheese, if you think that games like GTA V are harming your kid, then keep him away from it. Don't blame the video games please, they don't say, 'Hey kid look, this how you hold knife and this is how you stab'. They are purely intended for entertainment for those people who can differentiate between reality and virtual world.
