Riff Machine 2,105
It looks like Sony as well as a Tencent subsidiary have bought shares in From Software. 14% and 16% each. Also, Netease has bought Quantic Dream for an undisclosed amount. Who will be next? I'm still shocked Sony hasn't tried to buy Square Enix yet. Tencent, Sony Collectively Acquire 30 Percent Of Elden Ring Developer From Software WWW.GAMEINFORMER.COM The Kadokawa Corporation is still by far the largest shareholder, though. Detroit: Become Human Dev Quantic Dream Acquired By NetEase WWW.GAMEINFORMER.COM NetEase first invested in the studio three years ago. J4MES OX4D 10,033
China getting its claws into more technology brands or a greater share is terrible news for gaming and for the safety of users. I am shocked From Software sold themselves out especially after such a successful year. Give it a few years and these investments will result in majority holdings or even full takeovers and then bingo, everything funds China and users will be forced to install more driver level kernel-based software to run games which puts their device at risk of read-malware. Sony are on their last legs in this industry - we just don't see it yet. They've had so many acquisition opportunities go begging and they don't bring anything new to the table aside from a powerfully overpriced device that has very little games. They are also letting major home-brands go to their neighbors which is unforgivable and quite embarrassing.
