It's always fun to hear family traditions of habits for the holidays. Since Bethany and I moved to Texas we rarely celebrate Christmas. Having 70 degree weather in December sucks the feeling right out of us.

There's not really a place to cut down your own tree either here.

So looking forward to moving to Minnesota and having Christmas with her family. They will hand out gifts and before you open it you have to say something nice or a personal memory from the current year about the one giving you the present. It's fun, being an only child my holidays were always so quiet. I love how close and how big her family is.

Wife makes a proper cooked full English breakfast including fried bread.

We normally have dinner together later after getting rid of any children but this year will have dinner at sister in laws.

Rest of day spent like most others her watching her shit me doing my thing...ps4 or TV of some description.

For us it changes somewhat every year depending who and where we go to celebrate

We always go to Christmas eve service, usually as close as midnight as possible

in the morning we open our presents (wife, son, daughter and me).

Then some years we celebrate with my dad and his wife, my brother and his family and our family. Everyone takes turns hosting Christmas so it's never quite the same. For example my sister in law will invite her family when they host but not my wife's family. Same goes for us.

Then sometimes we go to Toronto (where my wife's family lives) and one of my in laws will be hosting.

There is always a big Christmas dinner and at that point the gifts are minimal because there are just too many people.

Boxing day then depends where we are. We get together with the family that we missed on Christmas. Who hosts changes every year.

In order to be able to see everyone we seem to have 4-5 Christmas dinners.

The planning is also getting much more difficult since the majority of the kids are now in University and working. The only day off my son is getting this year is Christmas so that affects our planning.

There's a lot of running around and weight gained.

There's always turkey, ham, minced meat pie and lots of baked goods.

Everyone contributes to the dinners and usually brings something.

And every year we seem to have to drive in one snow storm

This year Christmas will be different since it's the first one we've had since mom has died. We are going to try to keep it the same but doubt that will happen.

Christmas eve we will go to my dad's and do stuff with that side of the family. Mostly finger foods. We have the same food every year but only on Christmas eve. Open presents, sit by the fire, laugh and joke. Typically my brother is the pun of most of the jokes, especially this year as he has knocked up his girlfriend.

Christmas day we will wake up really early since the wife won't let me drug the youngest kid so he will sleep later Probably up around five. We will fix a big breakfast complete with sausage gravy, I know you're jealous Gary. My Dad,the in-laws, brother in law's family will come.

That night my wife's family will come over and we will have a traditional Christmas dinner and exchange gifts, make fun of my stupid sister in law. Pretty much the same thing we do every year. That's what I'm hoping for anyway.

Who's the worst to pick on in your family? Or can everyone handle the heat?

I love planning, but holy crap that's a lot of holiday action.

Yep that would seriously do my head in!

I just like to see it as a holiday from work but this year I will also take the kids to see their great grandad as my daughter says it may be his last xmas.

Yep,

It gets harder when you try to please everyone and people are getting older.

My dad and his wife are in their late 70s, my inlaws are in their mid 80s so we are all aware that there are a limited number of Christmas left.

It's not a particularly relaxing time.

By the time it's over, we have to do new years :)

That's usually with friends

It's Summer time over here for Christmas so my day involves BBQ's and outdoor games.

We start the day opening gifts with my immediate family (mum and sister).

We then go to my Aunty's house for lunch and have a BBQ while playing darts with my uncle.

We then usually go to my other aunty's where all of the family comes. There is the staple Christmas ham and pavlova as well as many other goods.

We spend the day playing backyard sports and if we go to my grandad's house we have done quad bike racing before. I don't see my uncles and aunty's too much anymore now that I am older so it is nice catching up with them.

However this year we had our Christmas dinner a few days ago because of people not being available Christmas Day. So instead this year after lunch we are going to go back home and my older sister who recently moved out of Auckland is going to come visit and we'll just chill at home.

I'm excited for this year though because i actually had a decent amount of money that I could spend on gifts for people so I will feel nice giving back to some of my family.

We ate all thick skinned. You have to be in this family. My wifes family is the same. Assholes and shit talkers.

My sister in law is an easy target. We think she is partially retarded
