I knew the name had been bought awhile back, but just found out they were cranking out Indians again.  I *love* the original Indian bikes.  The french curve front fender is like sex on two wheels.  Since I sold my Victory I've not had a bike, and I'm unlikely to drop the coin for a new Indian, but they sure look sexy.

Gotta agree with ya Doc on those fenders. Those are just super sexy fenders. They could have done something better with the bars though IMO. The bars are a bit plain looking.

I would like to have a bike, but I just don't trust people on the road these days. With the way people drive these days I'm worried enough with 4,500lbs of steel around me, I'd be totally paranoid if I was on a bike.

This is the only reason I don't own a bike.  I used to ride dirt bikes, 3-wheelers, and 4-wheers as a teenager and loved it.  But, there's no way in hell I'd trust the drivers around me enough to ride on the highway.  I love the feeling of being on a bike, it's a rush, but not worth the chance of someone not seeing me and getting smeared all over the road.  Nope.

But, yeah... those Indian bikes look reeeeally nice!

I loved to ride when I lived in a more rural environment.  Here in the city, yeah, the traffic sucks ass.

Same here.  I used to live out in the country where I could ride w/o a care in the world, but now, in Fort Wayne... no thanks.

Riding in the country would be really enjoyable. Gotta be aware even in rural areas though as well. My buddy Bob that I use to fish with all the time got really heavy into riding about 2 years ago when he bought a Harley. He puts on these rides for a group of riders and on the last one a couple months ago they were going through a real rural area on a two lane here in Northern Michigan when a big dog that the owner lets roam free ran out right in front of one of the riders in his group. She ended up going down at about 40mph (no helmet) and passed away from a head injury two days later. Gotta stay aware at all times when riding.

I never did group rides.  First off, if I wanted to talk to people I'd take a bus.  Second off, you lose awareness and room for evasive action.  I firmly believe riding alone is safer in a rural environment.  On the Interstate, the extra visibility of a group may change that.

Not wearing a helmet is stupid.  Period.

They do rides from one place to another, this one was "Hell 2 Paradise" (both cities in Michigan) and they stop at burger joints and landmarks along the way, so I can see the appeal in that.

He said the doctor told them it the way she hit the ground a helmet would not have made a difference, but I certainly think it couldn't have hurt, better than not having any protection at all. I personally think not wearing a helmet is one of the stupidest things a biker can do IMO.

I get it.  Some people like the social aspect.  I enjoyed the solitude.

I've seen plenty of motorcycle crashes, some a helmet would help and some they wouldn't.  However a lack of a helmet has never helped anyone.  One of the most needless death I've seen is a 15 year old on a moped who struck a mailbox.  She caught it right by the temple and probably wasn't doing more than 20mph.  I escorted the ambulance to the hospital, one of the fastest escorts I've ever done, but to no avail as she died on the table.

There not my type of bike as I'm from the UK but I could see how they'd be great to cruise the states.

I've been taken out on bikes and had my own crashes but I love riding, ridden all over UK and a lot of Europe with a group of mates and alone, the only thing other than injury that would stop me is draconian speed enforcement.

You only live once I feel better to think I'm glad I did that than I wish I'd done that.

Oh and helmets only compulsory protection in UK.
