They really need to add a "Fire Select" button to this game. Murmur would be ssooo much better if you could swap modes on the fly. Not to mention the AR's and Pulse Rifles as well. (Leave stats alone, just let me swap fire modes)

Found this on Reddit, figured you guys would like it. --------------------------------- http://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/2rhgrm/weapon_damage_explained_with_science/ Hello again fellow Guardians! I originally posted this on the Bungie forums but there, they seem to care more about flaming each other than actual Destiny information. So here we go! My first Reddit post EVER! Also, check out my second Reddit post ever about super energy modifiers here: http://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/2rhijl/increased_super_energy_modifiers_explained_with/[1] There appears to be some misinformation out there regarding weapon attack/impact & how it relates to damage, especially on higher level enemies. The following data was collected to shed some light on the highly arbitrary damage mechanics hidden within Destiny. There is a spreadsheet here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ieXn_u1nnY42x-_8V1JDk_XkkW1nviUEWgOXnbzrLEM/edit#gid=1609525585[2] with all the data I collected and I HIGHLY recommend you take a look at it both before & after you read the rest of this post. All damage was originally recorded against level 28 or 30 red-bar Hive Acolytes & Knights, but expanded to red-bar Dregs & Vandals once I determined that all take exactly the same body/crit damage. For damage against yellow-bar enemies, level 28/30 Vandal & Knight majors were used. THE RESULTS: The damage output of your character does NOT increase as your level surpasses that of your enemy. Example: facing a level 30 enemy, you will dish out the exact same damage per shot as a level 30, 31, or 32. Your damage per shot decreases as your level drops below that of your enemy's in the following manner: (% of max damage) Equal/Above: 100% Minus 1 Level: 68% Minus 2 Levels: 55% Minus 3 Levels: 48% Compared to a guardian of equal or greater level to a given enemy, your damage decreases as follows: (% less damage) Equal/Above: 0% Minus 1 Level: 32% Minus 2 Levels: 45% Minus 3 Levels: 52% So if you have a level 29 or 30 on your team fighting Crota, they're going to be dishing out about half the damage than that of a level 32. Attack DOES increase weapon damage in a linear fashion against enemies at or around your own level*. As a level 28+ facing a level 30 enemy, a 331 attack weapon will do ~15% more damage than an identical 300 attack version. *Against low-level mobs using high-tier weapons, damage seems to be calculated purely from impact. In addition, weapon damage is scaled down significantly to prevent us all from running around with low-impact, high-RoF assault rifles and one-shotting everything in patrol. EDIT: Here is some freaking AWESOME info about weapon damage from /u/Ketchary [3] : "Saying this to spread the word in a related topic, and because there's very common misinformation about it. Note that I have personally extensively experimented alongside another person and used calculations to find the following conclusions, using a crazy large number of weapons between 90 and 331 attack. Damage difference due to Attack can easily be calculated. For a weapon doing damage against an enemy that doesn't cap its attack, (Attack of weapon - Rarity modifier) / Damage dealt = constant. This rarity modifier is 80 for exotics, 60 for legendaries, 40 for rares, and 20 for uncommons. For some reason these rarity modifiers are only correct for Lv20 weapons, though. This means that, for example, a 331 attack exotic weapon compared to a 300 exotic of the same name will have its damaged scaled precisely according to: (300 - 80) / weaker damage dealt = (331 - 80) / stronger damage dealt This means the 331 will do 14.09% more damage than the 300. Interestingly, a 331 legendary will actually just do 12.92% more damage than a 300 of the same name. This means it is slightly more significant to get a 331 exotic than a 331 legendary. Also, there is misinformation about attack cap on enemies. The attack cap of enemies is not as simple as Level * 15. Actually, that formula is only applicable on enemies of level 16 to 20 (240 attack to 300). The attack cap increases in increasing increments. Against Lv1 enemies it is roughly 98, and increases by 8 per level up to 138 on Lv6 enemies. 138 attack is conveniently the attack of Husk of the Pit and the lowest level of Hive on the Moon is 6. I had forgotten how it increments between Lv6 and Lv16, so I'll edit that in this post once I find my old document." Thank you Ketchary!!! Critical hit multipliers for the following weapons are as follows: Assault Rifles: 2.5x Pulse Rifles: 3x Hand Cannons: 3x Scout Rifles: 3x Sniper Rifles: 5x Fusion Rifles: 2x (Shows white even though it's a crit. Credit to user /u/tenyardington [4] for this info! Thank you!) Shotguns: 2x? (still iffy about this, it's pretty damn hard to get just a single pellet to score a crit) Machine Guns: 2.5x Credit to SXII Psifour (thank you!) for the following info about critical hits: "technicality the crit multiplier is actually calculated as a bonus which is then added. Mathematically it comes out the same in most cases, but it matters for a few perks and may play a bigger role in the future." This means that critical hit damage isn't calculated as (base damage * X), but instead (base damage + (base damage * [X-1])), with X being the crit multiplier listed above. This has implications in weapons with perks modify critical hit bonuses, such as the one found on No Land Beyond (even though it's currently bugged...). Enemy majors (yellow-bar) take 10% less normal damage and only 50% crit damage. Since crit damage is calculated from normal damage, they actually take less than 50% of your weapon's regular crit damage. i.e. A scout rifle that deals 100/300 normal/crit damage to red-bar enemies will do 90 normal and (90 * (3/2))=145 crit damage to a major The Hive Disruptor perk found on CE weapons increases damage against Hive majors in the following manner (and no, I sadly do not have Black Hammer yet) Swordbreaker: +399 damage when ~10 or more pellets land on target and is not affected by the 10% damage drop to majors Light of the Abyss: +399 damage when 6 beams land on target (or is it on a cooldown?) and is not affected by the 10% damage drop to majors Song of Ir Yut: +399 damage on a 1 to 2 second cooldown & IS affected by the 10% damage drop to majors. All the numbers spewing out of the enemy with this thing make it difficult to pin down what the hell is going on The Nightfall burn modifier increase a particular weapon's elemental damage 3-fold Weapons of Light increases all weapon damage by 25%, and 35% with the Illuminated buff (Thank you /u/Mad-Slick [5] and /u/McRon_I [6] for this information!) The Focused Fire perk on Suros Regime increases damage by 33%. The SUROS perk damage increase is inversely proportional to the number of rounds left in the magazine and increases exponentially. Check out the linked spreadsheet and you'll see what I mean Enemies in Destiny are horrible test subjects and frequently kill you while you're trying to record data I was also planning on doing an analysis of the "oracle disrupter" perk found on the old (but still amazing) VoG weapons, specifically how much extra damage it does compared to similar weapons without the perk. Alas, I became frustrated with the bizarre findings... UNTIL along came chrisw41g with a link to a Reddit post explaining everything! Here's the link: (Turns out it's very similar to the Hive Disruptor perk) http://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/2lenpw/oracle_disruptor_and_what_it_means/[7] And here's another link by the same Reddit user with some additional VoG weapon data: http://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/2lfu7v/math_atheons_epilogue_is_handsdown_the_best/[8] Thanks again chrisw41g! Thank you all for reading! -CaptainKev91 EDIT: Thank you all for the support! I'm loving all the ideas for future studies, keep 'em coming! So far, I'm thinking: Damage received from enemies at varying levels & defense (this is REALLY tricky, since it would be nigh impossible to control for either level or defense throughout the tests since they're so closely tied... any ideas?) Does increased melee attack speed mean a faster sword attack? Taking into account RoF & reload speed for the total damage output of various weapons (I have a feeling that this value will be constant throughout a specific weapon type) I'm on vacation (huzzah!) until next Monday so I've got some time to burn on more experiments. Let me know what you want to see!

My titan will be all set then, everything he has, except Murmur, is all kinetic damage. Sadly my Warlock is fucked, only Hawkmoon is Kinetic for her.

What does No Burn mean?

I can totally explain the box...... Also I think D3 would have more play value than the others; but I am not 100% as I don't have DA:I

So this is something of a sleeper. I never heard anything really about it coming out until about a week before the release date when Adverts were spammed across IGN. I am not that far into it, but so far the work that Namco/ Bandai put into this is pretty impressive. I will post more as I play, but right now its actually a ton of fun. The moves and combat remind me of Dark Souls/ Demons Souls. real fast: There are 3 spell styles, Offensive, Defensive and Middle ground 3 Weapon/ combat Styles, Dual wielding (Rogue), Sword and Board (Knight), and Hammer! (Cleric) so far I have done Middle ground Knight and Mid Ground cleric. I am about 2 hours into each playstyle and they are way different from each other. At this point, I would say the game was worth the 60$ my wife bought it for, but I need to play longer to really decide. The story is odd so far; I need to play more to better explain it

This is what I ended up going with. Thanks for all the advice you guys. I love Voidwalker and spam Axion Bolt as much as I can when I play this alt. the really funny part is this alt is now better equipped than my Titan.

Congrats man! -
For my Warlock, I don't know what to pick here. I currently have two Yellow pieces of armor Voidfang Vestments (Fully upgraded) http://www.destinydb.com/items/1398023010-voidfang-vestments#1.cMmueJY8/tab-comments and Claws of Ahamkara (Just bought from Xur when trying to get titan gauntlets.) http://www.destinydb.com/items/2927156752-claws-of-ahamkara#1.czxhdOH8 The rest of my gear is meh to be honest, and I am about 150 rep outside of Level 2 Warlock rep, and a commendation. So I can buy anything, so I am trying to sort out what the best upgrade path would be. Should I stick with the Chest piece and just shard the Arms, or should I buy the Faction Chest piece and use the arms? Should I just bank both? What do you guys think? Here is my actual character if anyone wants to see my gear http://www.destinydb.com/guardians/playstation/2305843009240517785-cirathorn

Anything that helps me have fun in the game I am all over, just need to know a few days in advance to set it up

Let me know when there is a flawed, or Derp style VoG raid being formed please

I paid Blizzard for 30$ a month for more years than I care to admit to. I paid SoE 30$ for about the same length of time I paid Mythic the same for about 3 years... Destiny will never be to a point that any of those MMO's are at to be able to justify even 5$ a month subscription. Maybe the next iteration of the game, but even then, people won't pay it for a console game. PC game, though, sure, totally. I hate to see folks leaving, but hell, I stopped playing 2 weeks ago it seems now. I might try to get a new AR tonight though, idk

Saw this on Reddit, Since I haven't done that place yet, this was all new to me, so I wanted to share it with you guys -------------------------------- Hello fellow guardians! After many VoG runs i find that while most people understand the mechanics just fine, they miss a fair amount of little things that can make a big difference. Confluxes About half way into Left and Right Conflux phase 2 Minotaurs will spawn in the middle followed soon after by Minotaurs on the left and right sides. Anticipate this and make sure your heavy is ready. The Left and Right Conflux phase last longer and is more difficult that the three Conflux phase. So dont be discouraged if your going into this phase with people down. Oracles The oracles start to generate health when the spawn, the longer they are alive the more heath the will get. Its best to get damage on the as soon as they spawn. Templar Fight Relic Holder The relics best attack against harpys is your heavy attack with no jumping. Just spam the smash button its one shot to kill a harpy and the animation is pretty fast. The relic holder must wait until just after the oracles die (or the cleanse) to use his super. This ensure all people are able to get damage on the Templar. The relic holder must announce that his super is going out. Say something like "Here it comes. 3, 2, 1 super then use it this allows people to set up properly (more info in an upcoming tip). If the Templar does not use his ritual of negation then you can not die by being marked. You can time your supers right before he does it and you will be just fine. Everyone Else Try not to kill many of the harpys. The relic holder need the super energy from the kills. Obviously dont let your self die but I think you understand. As the relic holder is shooting his super you can sneak in a rocket or a grenade before you get detained. In most cases he will announce that its going out. Once you see him use it immediately shoot your rocket or throw your grenade then switch over to take out the shield thats probably coming. Gorgon Maze & Jumping Puzzle (Fun Tips!) You can make it all the way down the alternative path from the Templar room with out jumping at all. Moderately hard to do but i find it fun. You can also do the jumping puzzle without jumping once your on the very first platform. As you enter the room theres a ledge off to your left. From there you can get to the very first platform that spawns then you can run from platform to platform all the way down. No jumping! There is also an alternative path and set of platforms that will lead you to atheon. The same ledge on the left as you walk in has a cave above it that will lead you there. Gatekeepers Its best to get someone on top of the Plate that opens the portal before the gatekeeper dies to get it up as quickly as possible. Level 28s and above can solo a portal in normal so long as they have a good weapon set. In hard a level 29 could do it but its difficult its best to be 30 plus. Anyone who is inside a portal at the moment either gatekeeper dies will become marked. So if you have someone come in with you have them help you till hes at a sliver then wait for them to get out before you down him. This is useful for 2 reasons. 1. you didnt have to cleanse him, 2. hes now outside helping. As soon as the relic is picked up inside the portals the center conflux will spawn. Someone needs to move forward at that moment to hold it down. Usually 2 people. However some are able to solo it so long as it dosent take long for the rest of the party the get there. As the relic holder There is usually a Minotaur outside of the portal downstairs as your walking out. Destroy it! Once everyone is out side you need to put 2 people up on the front stairs and 2 for each portal, put your relics on either portal. Not sure why but most groups seem to worry too much about the front stairs when thats not where the danger is. The best attack against Praetorians is a jump smash followed by the rapid smash with no jumping. Atheon Relic Holder On Mars side do not jump towards the Hobgoblins. Just walk down towards them they will not notice you until your pretty much on them. Works almost every time. On Venus side use the jump smash followed by rapid smash with no jumping on the Praetorian same as the gatekeepers. You will only need to do 2 cleanses. the first one right after you kill the mobs. The second in the middle theres a little round plate i direct people to. Your aiming to get out of the portal and to the center as they are killing the last 2 oracles. You need to call out time so people know when to get out. Call 15 secs, 10 secs, and at 5 secs tell everyone to get out. wait until 3 secs and then move. Everyone Else You are able to tell which side the group has been teleported to from the out side by looking at the mini map. When they are on mars the will appear in the bottom left of the mini map. And when there on venus they will appear on the upper right of the mini map On Mars side there is no need to help the relic holder kill the hobgoblins just wit for oracles. On Venus side give the Praetorian a rocket, a grenade, or half a clip then get on oracles immediately. You must stay near your oracle buddy at all times so the relic holder gets the clenses at the right time. the most important being the second cleanse that should happen in the middle just before you start on the last 2 When coming out of the portals the side you are on is the direction you need to turn when you walk out. If your on the left side (mars) turn left. The right side (venus) turn right. If you are going to be putting up weapons of light you need to make sure your getting center early. No time to waste. If someone is using weapons of light make sure you time it so you are jumping into his bubble and them walking forward into the relic shield. Do not use rockets inside the relic shield!! Do your best not to knock into the relic holder inside the relic shield!!! When the relic holder calls 5 seconds you must get out!!!! Start shooting supplicants as soon as you jump away from the center platform!!!!! TLW There isint one you should read it a lot of good info here. Thanks for reading if i have missed something pleas be sure and let me know ill be happy to add it. Edit Additions! u/SiLeNtKiLLEr68: At Templar if the relic holder is the same level or higher then harpies then R1 (slash/light attack) is the best since it's way quicker then heavy and still one hits the harpies u/zzap2010: I lower my rocket velocity during the Templar fight so I can fire it off before I am detained and it will get there right after the relic holder downs his shield. The relic holder must tell you when he is about to fire and after he fires off his super or you will just waste your rocket.... Not sure if velocity matters much, but it seems to work for me. u/NPLer: Some other tipps: Atheon: The relic holder can use his super inside the portal to destroy one oracle. Or even drop the relic for a few seconds to help with shooting. Just make sure to announce it, so people won't freak out and take the relic away from you. Gatekeeper: After you get the first relic out and one person has to go to middle: make sure that this person goes to the very end of the stairs. You can shoot the minotaurs from behind and it gets lots easier. On that way, you can solo it easily. If you destroy the gatekeeper in the first portal make sure to grab the relic as fast as possible and make your way out IMMEDIATELY. Don't wait until you can cleanse yourself. Have seen some people who wait for that, so I wanted to mention it. You can move faster in the air, if you spam melee button. If you defend the conflux at the gatekeeper part with the relic: make sure not to push the minotaurs through the portal. They will spawn at the conflux and sacrifice themselves, if you do that. u/c45c73: If you have Ward of Dawn, rather than jumping out of the middle platform, have the Titan throw up another Ward. It's a lot safer. u/RainForest8241: During the Atheon fight as the relic holder if you time it right and get out of the portal before oracles are down, run to center, as soon as they kill oracles times vengeance pops up and you have your super, you should have enough time to hit him with the relic super before throwing up the shield before Atheon starts shooting at everyone in center, I do this nearly every time. u/TatTater: Lots of time, if the minotaur/praetorian is on a slanted surface, they can become invincible to all attacks from the relic (excluding the super) for a bit or they will regenerate health and even come back from the dead. This is why the minotaur in the right portal is such a pain to deal with.
