Palle 491
So my brother has a new Acer laptop with Windows 8. Recently it installed automatic updates and suddenly it's stuck in a boot loop. Now we can't do a system restore because the password he entered for his account won't work. This is what the screen looks like Also there's no DVD unit so there's no option to re-install from a disc. What now? Diddums 4,346
Turn the laptop off completely by holding the power button down for a few seconds. Turn it on again and keep tapping F8. You might need to hold down the FN key when you do this. It should present you with a boot menu, when it does, select safe mode. Boot up, and shut down properly, and try booting up as normal.
