I see Activision have formed their own movie studio now with Skylanders coming in the next two years and a Call of Duty movie expected for 2018-19. Could be interesting and hope they do something along the lines of Modern Warfare as that would be vintage.

Modern warfare would probably make the better movie. However I suspect they would go with the latest games in order to cross-promote.

It's a difficult sale in my opinion. There are plenty of different war based action movies out there. You really don't need the CoD brand to make a successful movie

I think it would bring in a lot of money.  Like you said, there are already a lot of war movies out there.  But, most kids aren't interested in history or true stories.  I think this would sell big time on the name alone.  Every teenager and early 20's guy would be all over this.  It could be a garbage movie (and in my opinion would be), but it would sell tickets just on the brand.  I don't think it would be a difficult sell at all.  Easy money, shit movie.

There's good material to work with from the Modern Warfare game, but I have zero faith that they'd do it right.

COD 4 Modern Warfare would have made the perfect opportunity for a movie as it was so unique and brand-appropriate but now the franchise has moved to a more futuristic, fantasy and spectacular backdrop; they'll probably go all Hollywood on this aspect and showcase as much CGI as possible. MW would have the best narrative but the way the series is positioned now; it's all about crashes and bangs more than a quality story. COD 4 wont ever be forgotten as a game but I think the time has probably passed for it to be relevant for a movie nowadays which is a shame.

CoD4 was the only CoD that had a memorable campaign. I remember the mission One Shot One Kill like it was yesterday. That shit was awesome.

That was great but the one attacking the air field on W@W was one of my favorites
